Damaging a fairy circle is a huge thing in Celtic Mythology and Bad Things happen to those who do - in many stories the person who did it gets kidnapped by the Fae and imprisoned in their Otherworld as punishment, which is probably where the Doctor vanished to. There's also a "soul for a soul" motif in a lot of legends, so by taking the Doctor they released the soul of Mad Jack to influence the future crazy nuke-happy PM. Loved this episode!

I get it now, the curse of mad jack, the older woman was Ruby, she told all the people who got scared ''stay away from Ruby'' because she's Ruby, in order to save her self, the loop restarts each time she dies, to the point she finally made it to say ''don't step'' to her younger self at the end, which made her to disappear at the end because those events didn't happen once she saved herself.

I don't think she talked to the people -, I think that they responded to her as if she was 'wrong', like a glitch in reality which terrified people on a primal level, like an Eldritch horror sorta thing

Wow! You got beautiful eyes 😍
Anyway..... Actually really liked it loved the creepy vibe & thought it was really well written & great acting by Millie. I need to watch it again though because lots was shot in my hometown ( yes I'mWelsh) & it takes me out of the episodes

About what the older Ruby said to everyone who talked to her; I saw someone comment that the whole loop was basically a punishment by the "fairies" (or whatever force the circle was for) because she kinda laughed at the fairy circle while the Doctor, who accidentally stepped on it, was instantly apologizing. And the loop was also connected to her deepest fear aka abandonment, which is why everyone ran away when they tried to talk to old Ruby. So old Ruby didn't necessarily SAY anything, it was more her deepest fear coming to life. And then because she saves the world from the crazy Prime Minister (who was probably stopped by the Doctor in the original timeline), she gets a chance to warn her past self and stop the Doctor from stepping on the fairy circle, thus closing the loop.

The prime minister here in the UK that left is Boris Johnson, who's similar to Trump in that he lies and operates with self interest, but he's a bit less extreme than Trump at least. He resigned in 2022 and then the party in power had a leadership election (meaning only party members can vote for a new prime minister, but it's not a proper election). That's when Liz Truss came in who then crashed the economy even more because she went for capitalism on steroids, so she ended up resigning and becoming the shortest serving British prime minister in history. Rishi Sunak, our current prime minister, took over and has made the economy a little more stable but there's been tons of scandals in all of the last couple of years in the news so he's likely be leaving on July 4th (our next election as well as my birthday, too)

Get that AC on babe don’t sweat it! Love Dr Who. A great episode. As soon as Ruby read “Rest in Peace Mad Jack” she went into another timeline, doctorless. She took the long road.

    Google:
Which Welshman became Prime Minister of the UK in 1916?
David Lloyd George, known as the Welsh Wizard, became prime minister in December 1916 at the height of World War One and is the only Welshman to have risen to the role.10 Nov 2013
Moral of this story is look where your walking. The Dr needs another button for fairy circle, as in the butterfly compensator on the Tardis console.
The reveal at the end reminds me of a classic Dr story.

I really liked 73 Yards. I thought this really showed what Millie Gibson can do as an actor. I thought the stuff with the Welsh Prime Minister was cool. But something about the way this ended is extremely unsatisfying. I get the point of it being existential horror. I don't get the point of it being a closed time-loop. Because then it doesn't matter. It doesn't change the characters. No one learns anything. Also, I wish they had done more with 40-year-old Ruby make-up-wise than just giving her librarian glasses, a different hairstyle, and maybe bigger fake boobs. Where were her wrinkles? They didn’t think to give her frown lines or crow's feet as they did with Amy in “The Girl Who Waited”. It was just very glaringly a 20-year-old playing a 40-year-old. And it took me out of the episode.
