you should try finishing the under piece before you cnc, the glue wont stick to the finish, but it will stick to the carved portion, try shellac, it will also seal the grain from some of the minor tearout,
Just to help you out....don't use tape it will leave a residue that is just as hard to get off as the glue....something that I found out is that if you use any simple wax on the wood before etching the design the glue wont leave any residue on the wood itself.
3-m no load sandpaper. It takes the royal out of pain in you ass. I only found out about it a couple months ago.Technology is progressing faster than I am. No telling what is out there. The no load sand paper awesome. They gots some great deals on ebay. Nice Inlay work Cheers

I did this in vectric. It was very easy. I have a set of those Amana In Groove bits now. I have a 30 degree bit that will produce much better results.
