@@sandwichman100 - not strictly true. it took a ruling by the Supreme court of England and Wales in 2006 to stop Met police Officers arresting and harassing foreign tourists who were filming Buckingham palace , and ordering them to delete pictures from their cameras. A power that the police have NEVER had. Even today photographers are harassed by either the Met police or the Royal Parks Police for doing something that the courts have ruled ( backed up by the Chief Officer of Police) as being totally LAWFUL.

But there is nothing legally they can do as you point out. AB was actually at the gates about a month ago!

I think you may find the hedge line is that which bounds the public to private land, the ingress into Ford (private) land is to allow truck and other vehicles to come up to a barrier /gate and not to queue on the main highway. In a lot of cases the local authority may put in facilities as part of inducements to aid the attraction of large employers to the area....they have to get there tax payers somewhere.

If the zebra crossing is on ford property too, they need to install belisha beacons to make it legal. "To be legally compliant, every zebra crossing must be equipped with two Belisha beacons". Our local supermarket had to remove a zebra crossing they'd painted across the road as it had no beacons and didn't comply to regulations.
