- Angry Farmer At Rufford Mill Ford Blames CZcamsrs For A Problem He has Caused.
Today I had a wander back to Rufford Mill Ford after yesterdays disagreement with the local farmer that had dredged the stream causing the river level to drop.
I also had a chat with a local resident that was not happy about all the visitors, even though the place is advertised as a Tourist Attraction.
Please enjoy the video.

The farmer has done right for safety in my opinion. As a driver I would shake his hand.
Nah. The farmer is in the wrong. Let people be. Old hag will die soon and so will everyone. Live and let live.
Farmer was right, it's dangerous. Standing in the road isn't exactly a bright idea though. Maybe if he dredged it more without the council having to pressure him and it wouldn't be as deep, attracting the dick part of the green lane community that's blasts through.
As a driver. Bahahhahahahahhaah

@@Football.0321 oh yeh, sorry, I forgot no one has ever been run over due to not hearing a speeding car coming. My bad.
As someone who uses the Ford I am grateful to the farmer for dredging the river and reducing the water level. On another note the ONLY people responsible for driving quickly are the drivers themselves…
The farmer is probably just sick of all the smelly bagheads stood there all day. Just look at them. 😂
If the police place a dispersal order in that zone then all the problems go away
But you now have to travel 2 miles extra each way, IT ALL ADS up,
@@glynscothern3876 I don’t think it’s that much, there is a short cut via Bescar Lane. But yes unfortunate after so many years it’s had to be closed.

Only positive I can see is that this guy isn’t wasting police time which he likes to get a kick out of. He’s a complete waste of the earths oxygen.

Seems like a perfectly reasonable person. Whilst watching these videos I have often thought how annoying it would be to have crowds of knobs constantly hanging around and people racing up and down the road.
At the same time, I agree that the higher the water level the more impossible it is to go fast through it.
The higher water level the higher the chances of cars getting damaged.

To be honest, I agree with the residents given the last few months. They didn’t mind when it’s one guy videoing occasionally, but the last few months have got stupid. There’s far too many people going down and videoing, and turning it into a big gathering. The parking in some of the videos is ridiculous. Small villages aren’t used to having their roads clogged up by parked cars.

The main reason CZcams's are there is not for the big splashes it's to see folks rip off their undertrays number plates and hydro lock the engine. That's the content they want.
Exactly. That's why I'm watching! 😁
nowhere else on youtube can you see this many engines bite the dust, and without it eating into production costs!
Most people want the splashes.
Yeah I find it kinda sad. Seeing someone's property get damaged...
100% agree with the guy in the Range Rover, it’s an accident waiting to happen down there
A hand full of idiots with cameras and this dreadlocks guy is the worst he does not care only about himself he stands outside police stations intimidating people
Sort the road put them
@@Runner-Boy ? :/
I have to say am on the side of the gentleman in the Range Rover his comments are valid - regardless of the depth of the water theres no cure for mindless idiots. Lets face it would you like to live there with cars racing past your house, and the fear of an accident occurring
I understand the point of the resident, the point I was making is the level of water is causing the speed problem
@@PJAudits. “the level of water is the problem……” what absolute b.ollocks you dreadlocked twat if the level was low f.uckwits wouldn’t be bothered because it doesn’t cause a big splash (sad m.fu.ckers) and no big splash no CZcams tossers filming, they don’t slow down when it’s high they speed up you muppet
People going through deep water and sucking it into their air intakes and ruining their engines is what draws the crowds and gets views on CZcams. Lower water levels means people can drive through slowly or fast if they choose without anyone else watching or videoing . Why is higher level better ? ..it causes all this carnage and danger and destruction, and also inconvenience , expense, etc etc
So when the vehicle's go slow and you shout BOOOORING! Are you trying to encourage them to go faster or not?
I'm with the locals on this one. Outsiders are using the place as a racetrack. The cameras obviously encourage the thrill seekers. They either need a permanent speed camera there or traffic calming hardware - either a chicane or speed humps. At the end of the day this is a residential area, it's not a theme park.
Even when the road closed signs are up people are ignoring them knowing CZcamsrs are down there. There will be a very bad accident one day with the speeds they go through it at. The road is also getting blocked with parked cars & broken down cars. I've seen vids on here where it's the same 4x4s going through then turning around to do it again & again. Ask the question, "Why are they doing it?" Answer, because CZcamsrs are gathering down there.
@@asensibleyoungman2978 Spot on. There was a video where a car went through fast & nearly aquaplaned into parked cars. How can they say that they are not enticing all this when if a car owner refuses to drive through they start booing & shouting " Boring"?
Another vote here for the farmer/people who've dredged the stream. This dreadlocked catastrophe is a wrong'un if ever I saw one.

@ItsMe Council and police clearly do, the road is now closed to the public
Rufford used to be a bit of fun but as previously said, the you tubers have massively popularised it and actively encourage speeding motorists. The road is now blocked pretty much all the time (your car was parked in front of the no parking sign on Saturday!) Sooner or later someone is going to aquaplane into the kids who sit on the edge and that won't end well. You also say people should go slow through the ford and the CZcamsrs are sensible yet you all cheered when Ben went through it like the clappers on Saturday... contradiction after contradiction.
Well said
I agree…Very well said!
People are just really stupid and boring. Most of the people that complain about it are the elderly or rich and selfish
It's even marked on Google Earth as a 'Tourist Attraction' with a photo of a 4WD speeding through it.
Speeding motorists are responsible for their own driving regardless of any other influence, their own choice to do so. Stop blaming someone’s bad behaviour, irresponsibility and law breaking on anyone except the drivers.
I see the chaps point of view, it must be a nightmare for the locals.
Can you imagine every redneck with a 30 year old rusted Landrover making your driveway a toilet? The 6 minute videos you see on CZcams don’t give you a true sense of what it’s like there 24/7.
Imagine being so entitled that you think the english roads and country side are just for residents.
It's not 24/7, it's a couple of hours on a weekend
The entitlement of him crying I don't want to be filmed
Could be worse, he could be surrounded by new housing estates
It must be a nightmare for the residents living there
or on't t'other hand it could be tut residents dream
Then don't buy a house there, the ford was there first .
It's a nightmare living opposite a pub so why buy it in the first place. These locals want it as their own sorry it is public. So instead of being annoyed take advantage of the situation, a pub a tourist shop, ice cream parlour cream teas cafe.etc I used to live in a village like this it was great but you had some who thought it was theirs. SO YOU WILL HAVE TO AD 4 MILES TO YOUR Journeys, Time and money,
@@glynscothern3876 Make the road access only then. That will prevent the morons using the road as a theme park attraction whilst letting locals get on with their daily lives.
But its a public place

@@steve00alt70 - Look up 'tragedy of the commons'. It's a public place but there's no attempt to balance the impact on the people who live there, and who use the road in their daily lives. If you live down on the harbour you expect huge crowds to watch the NYE fireworks, but that's just one night. All these people come and hang around for days.
I would hate living there and having all the people around filming all the time. Not many who would like it, especially in a nice area. The tourist attraction is the walk, not the ford itself. The cameras are absolutely encouraging bad driving, just accept its all about the monetisation.
Anyone who's been watching these videos for some time must have noticed the more recent ones are much more uncomfortable to watch. Encouraging speeders and tools like the blue defender bully in a recent video. I agree 100% with the Farmer - someone is going to get hurt here. It’s obvious. The local man talks absolute sense. The man in the dreadlocks is a ‘look at me’ type. Local man correct. Dreadlock man wrong.
The place has descended into mayhem since people have seen the success of a couple of youtubers and want some of the action for themselves. Because the ford is no longer deep, the need for some action to film is leading to dangerous stunts and it's got out of hand. Personally, I don't get much entertainment from a big splash through a puddle - I can do that myself when it rains, so I think folks should consider moving on now and give the locals and ducks a rest.
What are the dangerous stunts?
The guys spot on with what he's saying about damming up I went down at around 6pm once for walk with my kids and I witnessed 4 youtubers damming under the bridge not saying any names but when I asked them what they're doing all I got was we're cleaning up its amazing how it rose half a foot over night in summer without rain and all these boulders and under trays appeared just under that bridge.

Just a bit of background information, I have chatted to the farmers around this area, the local council sent letters to them and ordered them to dredge the river that goes through their fields, at cost to the farmers, so it was not the farmers just doing it. they were told to put fences up to stop people going onto the land that the farmer owns, so no more dams are made, at expense to the farmer(go to pj’s latest live stream, around 22:50 minutes in, you will see someone doing this) there has now been notices put up on the lampposts, from the council, for the locals to cut back all the trees around this area, at their own expense. The biggest gripe was not actually the filming of the vehicles going through the ford, it was the parking of cars all along the pavements, on both sides of the road and outside of the cottages, especially when there is an empty car park near the ford, I asked the council to speak about this but they declined.
Not down to the Council to say dredge the river unless they got specific permission from the Environment Agency, if not it was illegal to do. How do the Council know what effect the dredging will do to the lower areas the river runs through.

If the water level is high then people splash through. They come from miles around with their snorkel vehicles to get on CZcams. meeting that resident and hearing what he had to say was brilliant. People almost want to drive through faster just to escape the crowd and cameras. He didn’t want to be filmed and yet he managed to voice the opinion of the residents really well. There are kids and crowds hanging around and high speed water splashing .. it’s dangerous driving , and it’s also an offence to splash someone with a vehicle. I'm a local to this area & know this Ford well, For years it's been a quiet place, was just used by locals, it's not about people buying a house and being inconvenienced by it, it's about people filming all this shit and posting it on media which is enticing more and more visitors to the place, some even travelling hundreds of miles, I've seen massive queues on the A614 all wanting to turn right onto Rufford Lane, backed up to the right up to the lights at the Rose Cottage pub, then there's the other end on Newark Road on the A616, a very bad junction on a bend which has had it's share of accidents by drivers not paying attention to vehicles turning into Rufford Lane, also the Lane has a weight limit of 7.5 tonnes, yet now BIG lorries are coming, not to to deliver, but to just use as a cut through to beat queuing traffic towards Ollerton, the weight limit is there because there's a railway line bridge.

Yeah, and he was the cause of it for not dredging sooner...
Imaging booking a wedding at the mill and getting this side show.
To be honest , I am on the side of the range rover driver. If it was on the persons with the caneras door step they would feel the same.
I find it interesting that Google now lists this as a "Tourist attraction", well, that says it all really...
Good on the farmer. These weird men with cameras hanging around children isn’t right. Shouldn’t they all be at work?
As a kid we'd have a family drive out from Barnet, London sometimes we'd visit a Ford to watch the cars splashing through and feed the swans which was fun for us littluns. Sometimes the water was deep other times near dry, of course this depended on the rain fall. Bigger cars and vans would charge through whatever the level, the Morris 1000 and tiny Austins etc. crawled through. So, this is not a new thing and I suppose some drivers do play up to the cameras, though I'd drive slow and not look like a prat for all to see.
A word of warning to Ford SUV drivers, check the engine air filter housing as the Escape model from the US and assembled in Vietnam has a low-down scoop entry port. This also scoops up flood water that I found out can ruin an engine. Been there and learnt the expensive lesson.
I crossed a river in India in a morris and it never flickered, it was even floating at 1 point
"I just don't want to be filmed." Introducing the 360 camera 😂😂
I genuinely feel sorry for the residents, nobody would be happy with this if they lived here, people think it's funny when it does not effect them and simply don't care about others
I totally agree the drivers are adults.
Just curious, would you count a 17 year old driver as an adult?
@@TheSebiestor I would describe a seventeen year old, with a driving license, as being capable of behaving like anyone else. Yourself?
@@Nigfis That'll be why a 17 year old has such expensive insurance .Just because they pass a test does not make them a good driver. Then of course, whats a good driver??
@@TheSebiestor alot of 17 year olds don't drive cos insurance and tax is very high..
@@TheSebiestor also when your 17 you're classed as a small adult if you acted like a child at 17 you'd get told off by an adult
Don't get why people still use this road. To get to the village of Wellow or onto the A614 you can just divert to the McDonald's roundabout, it's literally one measly mile further, 2 mins at 30mph :/
Because they wanna be famous.
I agree, I looked at the map expecting it to be the only way to get from A to B and you can easily avoid it with little time lost if any.
Because CZcams.
To his credit, it's a good thing that he has done his dredging
The guy in the rage river said he’s lived there for around 25 and stated that it’s getting worse but 25 years ago social media was not around, we just film what happens for the day then leave. I’ve been coming here years and years well before I started uploading on CZcams and people have recorded here for decades. We don't ask people to change the signs or build dams ect because it all comes back at us and we get blamed for building a dam or changing signs when we are not the ones doing that. And yes I will agree people do speed through very quickly and it is dangerous but I’m not telling them to do that or to drive up the stream. We hate it when drivers deliberately drive up the river because is brings all the stones onto the Ford and when someone drive through the Ford the stones come at us and members of the public like bullets. We don’t want to come here to cause trouble, we just come here purely because it’s a hobby and other people like to see what happens here on CZcams. But if you are reading this and you are thinking of driving through rufford for Please do NOT go ridiculously fast because you could lose control and it could be tragic for you or something much worse.
How often would this Ford be dredged, as mentioned? And how long do you think it would take to get back to those previous flood levels?
It's simply a modern day darwin awards test!
@@TheSebiestor is the first time he’s dredged it since I’ve been recording there I’ve been doing this now for over a year and a half
Very reasonable conversation.
Dredging is an obvious thing to do - why would have 18 inch deep water when you don't have to?
It must be a shame when a sleepy place like that turns into a tourist attraction.
And yes, part of the attraction has to be zooming through a 18 inch deep water (many do) and splash and drench the spectators and the filmers. Bound to be.
I should think dredging it was the natural thing to do, and it was only a matter of time.
I think people have had a good few days or more fun out of it, that's enough for now isn't it?
The camera always attracts idiots, hasn't the farmer seen our politicians?
Quite agree................ with the farmer !!
Well then your not welcome here buddie please leave 😒
The farmer is right though, whether you like it or not, CZcamsrs filming the ford does encourage the morons to speed through recklessly. You keep saying that when it's deep everyone drives through slowly, and I don't know how you can say that when there are hundreds of videos of vehicles speeding into the deeper water and immediately aquaplaning. Chap in the Range Rover made very good points.
The man in the Range Rover was only bothered about the riff raff spoiling hie exclusive village, as for not driving that way because he didn't want to be videoed is just ridiculous. No one wants to video someone driving at 5mph.
@@PJAudits oh, so you DO want people speeding through. Got it. Thanks for admitting it.

PJ I agree with much of what you say. I've seen a lot of these Rufford videos on a number of channels and never seen anyone have an arguement with a cammer. You manage to turn up and have two arguements in just a few days........
He loves the confrontation. He's an idiot
Why is it bad thing to dredge the stream to allow the road to become more usable, and save a load of cars getting ruined?
There is no doubt that having an audience does encourage some people to act differently.
THE FARMERS RIGHT IN EVERY ASPECT BUT IF THERE IS A CRASH WITH A BIG CROWD GOOD BY KIDS STANDING THERE❤️🏴
The second auditors start going after members of the public rather than supposed authority figures, you just become bullies. Not a good look.
"Auditors" - self agrandising trouble makers. The dregs of society.
I used to work as a community nurse in Shropshire where there are lots of fords. You learn to judge what depth your car can safely manage or live to regret it. A local person drowned when her Freelander was swept down stream. I drove in slowly looking at my front wheel. If the water got to half of the height of the wheel, it was time to reverse out. Most fords have a depth marker so you have some idea before entering the water. Shropshire has lots of floods too.
I live and work in the Welsh boarders, it's called WelshPOOL for a reason, there are always floods and fords and there are always idiots. Sensible drivers don't wreck their cars by speeding through standing water
Was the swept away freelander at Neen Savage Ford?
@@hagdog8582 I can't rambert exactly. It was.mid.2000s I think k
I'm an ex international trucker,
whenever it snowed on the Monte Blanc French Italian border route,
there were no IDIOTS driving/filming on that dangerous route, "just for a bit of fun?"
this ford needs, hefty speed bumps AND a traffic light, with camera, which goes RED,
once the ford goes over 6 inches in depth,
OR someone is going to end up seriously aquaplaning into a crowd of people,
(I have "personally witnessed" a 4 x4, on a Dutch motorway, aquaplane,
driving at speed through surface water a few inches deep, ending up, on its roof,
"makes yer think" doesn't it)
I just don’t get what’s “exciting” about watching these cars splash through a ford? My sympathies are with the local residents.
If the farmer wanted to disrupt the youtube videos of the ford, could he just go down there and play copyrighted music loudly? I imagine it would be a right pain getting copyright strikes
Don't need audio for this type of video, just turn all the background sounds off and put you own dramatic music on
I doubt an old farmer would do this
Wouldn't he need a music license to do that? ;-)
@@WeirdMatt I think prs would be suspicious of him broadcasting to crowds.. especially if it’s continuous
@@PJAudits Handels Water Music perhaps PJ (I'll get my coat) LOL!
Thank god it's now closed before someone got killed and yes, the cameras played a massive part in encouraging these simpletons to attempt to wreck their cars!
It’s just a car going though a puddle, I don’t see what the attraction is. Bearing in mind these puddles cause thousands of pounds worth of damage to the engines
Eh. You've just answered your own question 😂
Maybe you could expand your Splash to include scantily clad girls on the fences who slide into the water when there's an extra big Splash 😎
Greetings from Stockholm Sweden Europe 🇬🇧🇸🇪
Now that's what I call thinking on your feet buddie. Let's do it👍
Pj it’s all about content for you.
Do you think
Now the water levels are low thanks to the farmers work dredging further downstream, hopefully for the locals it will now be less of an attraction and just be like any other of the thousands of fords.
The dangers created by this ford was a combination of deep water and the CZcams publicity causing thousands of people to attend whom had never previously heard about it.
The Farmer was spot on correct.
I know three different people who have nothing in common who have had footage of the ford come on their YT feed. Assuming countless thousands within a day out driving distance of Rufford have also had it drawn to their attention by YT then that alone will massively increase the number of people going there to watch or try it. As others have said though it must be a pita for anyone living next to it.
At 1:40 there is a red car parked on the pavement.
And?
@@PJAudits Just an observation 😊
@@darrenross1807 you really think that is his car? why would he DO that ?!?
Whilst we have rights to film etc I hope we can see it is upsetting people and harming their lives, our rights do not always trump everyone else's even if it's law it isn't always right. Laws are always in a state if flux and I can see privacy laws being tightened if we keep up this modern CZcams camera in face type thing. Having said that I do love the videos!
This is the thing. Just because we can do something it doesn't mean we should. I'm all for auditing the police but I'm not 100% comfortable with the rest. People don't realise that as a society we have to self-police. In many cases we have to place respect for others before our right to do something if we want to live in a pleasant and comfortable society.
Try telling that to the authorities who stick cameras where they please in public places. If the authorities can film in public lawfully, other people should be able to. I think it would be a very slippery slope if there was one rule for the authorities and another for the public.
@@simonabbott7323 So you think two wrongs make a right. Your attitude is, 'if the authorities film me, I'm going to make things worse by filming my fellow man whether he likes it or not.' I fail to understand your logic. How is that helping us? You just become like the tyrants filming us. You're not improving things; you're just adding to the misery. It's like me saying I hate loud police sirens disturbing the peace so I'm going to get my own siren and make more noise. It's utterly ridiculous.
PJ I think you need to get a life
@@simonabbott7323 - like it or not, there is one set of rules for lawful authorities and another for the public. Sometimes they overlap, sometimes they don't. Comparing CCTV cameras to crowds of people with phone cameras egging on drivers to drive irresponsibly - I'm sorry, you'll have to do better than that.
Your previous videos make a mockery of your logic in this one.
So, in reality, the farmer is to blame for the high level of the ford and the accident the biker had, because he never dredged before it happened.
Just put humps just before the water!! Easy really.
Farmer's correct
I understand both points. I for one like to watch cars going slow and then getting hydro locked by unsuspecting people.
They could solve the problem for good by building a bridge. I'm sure the local residents were against it because they didn't want a busy roadway disturbing their peaceful rural area, but now the ford itself is doing exactly that. Or at least put up stop signs to force all traffic to stop before crossing the ford.
@@Hellstorm901 Add a tax to anyone who ever has their vehicle towed or hydrolocked engine fixed to go towards building the bridge. And like I said, adding stop signs could be a cheap, immediate solution.
