- My local BMW Motorrad dealership were producing a video, showcasing the off road ability of the BMW R1300GS Trophy. The Boss, kindly allowed me access to the video shoot, at a top secret location!
Grab a beverage and enjoy the entertainment folks.
I rode this same bike a few weeks ago, in the road.
As I am not a lover of hospital food, I watched on in amazement as to what the 1300 could do, in capable hands(most of the time). All way above my skill set. Lots of mud and stuff.

He made the 1300 look like a 250 2 stroke, absolutely bonkers 😂
I think he has his dad’s DNA in his blood. The dealership is called Mansells 👍
Stunning demonstration of how the new big GS looks powerful and agile. That’s what the brand said at the launch, it was becoming capable and more fun to ride than the previous iterations. Thank you for the video 🙌
That’s a good looking bear sleeping behind you.
Awesome video, well done! 👍👍
Thank you 👍
Ready for the Erzbergrodeo for sure!!!
Your bike must have been in shock seeing all that, rock, water & mud. I'm glad you didn't subject your beautiful 1250GS to all that chaos.
I'm an RT rider so I like things nice & clean...lol.
I need a new suit now mines all dirty 😂
Great to see an off road test. Very impressive all things considered.👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great film and superb riding skill. The GS is a natural for Paris-Dakar type events in the hands of experts. But I think your film demonstrates that for mere mortals it's too heavy to be a realistic off-roader. The 400-single I use is literally half its weight and can bounce down a slope with very little damage (unlike its ageing rider).
Love the lower engine crash bars , not cluttering the engine but look good practical and protection . You gotta be fit as well to ride like that 👍👍💪🏼
That looked like a good time
Great riding Greg and filming and editing Paul. I did take the GS1300 for an adventure down to the Hungry Man yesterday 😂😂
😂👍
Brilliant video. It looked so light to pick up and having had to pick my 1250 up on the odd occasion I know the effort required. Roll on 1st March when I get the 1300 😊
enjoy the new machine 👍
Good video! Encouraging you to walk! I had the 1250GS low kit a while ago, and it's the only one so far that I can trust on this type of terrain because I'm short.
Suffice to say my bike with never see anything like that .. off road to me is in and out of my garage ! 😂
Impressive Rider with an impressive 1300GS👍🏻
Sure is!
Best review so for 🤛🤛👍
Thanks , if only I could ride like that!
You could do that on the 1250GS as well. Enduro Park Andalucia (for example) has access to an abandoned quarry and you do training on terrain like that. I was fortunate enough to train there for a few days on a rental 1250GS. Dropped the bike so many times going over difficult terrain and was so impressed by the durability and capability of the bike that I immediately bought one when I got back. I reckon that for >99% riders (myself included) that we are the limiting factor and not the bike when riding off-road.
I think the cost of replacement damaged bits may also be the limiting factor too😂
Much Enjoyment 👍😎
Oh yeah!
Smart bastards, now I want one even more 😮😂
Wow 😳👍💪
With all the venture bikes out there, I always come back to the GS .You are going to fall off and the GS just lands on the engine bars. Like riding a very heavy BMX
Cool video! I have a 2022 R1250GS-A I think most people use their GS for more long distance straight line on/road use. I like the utility that my bike gives me, I didn’t really get it for the off road worthyness. I’ve got 13,000 miles on it and they’ve all been long haul trips, California to Oklahoma, California to Oregon etc. Seeing the new GS I’m a little worried BMW may have ruined it for the reasons people buy a GS. I’ve gone on dirt/unpaved rutted and washed out roads, but I’m not rally racing or anything. I’m hoping to see a R1300GS-A all kitted out with cases and stuff, the bike he was riding looked like a dirt bike with a big engine.
It has been stripped back. He will be racing it on one of our local hill climbs soon...our version of Pikes peak!
@@gsd32ihopefully it’ll be recorded so we can see it too? Im curious what an alternative to pikes peak looks like. I went up pikes peak in October last year, but I think the speed limit was 10 MPH so I didn’t get to slide my GS around corners or anything like that. Slowly cruising up it with all the other tourists the R1250GS-A did amazing haha I was coming back from Oklahoma thru Colorado, Wyoming and Utah, some breathtaking views. I hope the R1300GS-S is a nice hefty large bike for long distance rides. I really liked the longer suspension pulling over in some of the turnouts on pikes peak, a couple of them I would have never made it thru in a car, the humps were so big. I had two large orange bags strapped to both the side cases. The GS is just such a useful heavy duty bike, it fits most needs.
this is our version of pikes peak, on my small island of Jersey, located off of the French coast.

Great watch - thank you! What tyres was he on as they looked like they coped with the mud pretty well while still being OK for the road?
Hi. They are the Metzeler Karoo 4's.
@@gsd32i Thank you - I'll give them a go!
@@combemeister The chap riding the bike is a bit insane and I rode that bike with those tyres on the rode and they felt...a bit sketchy , so possibly check the website out of varies % on/off road if they do them.
@@gsd32i Thanks very much and will do!
I'd skip the Karoo 4's as they're sketchy no wet roads. Instead go for the Dunlop Trailmax Raid, which is amazing on both tarmac and off-road.
Hi, Can you find out what suit he was has. Looks great down in the mud
It is a nice suit
bering-moto.com/en_GB/products/austral-gore-tex-btv89-eu
It's a Bering Austral jacket and trousers.
Was the bike equipped with the standard or sport suspension?
TBH not certain. It is being prepared to go hill climbing soon...so I suspect it has the sports suspension.
How did he made the bike from 1300cc to 250cc. This is some amazing skills.
"Your demonstrations are a true inspiration", but the question is: What all needs to be done in the service after such a ride?
Will we pass Chang La, Kunzum Pass, and Nathu La with fully loaded suitcases, and I still have 4000 km ahead of me without the possibility of service?
I love both the GS 1200 and 1250; I drive a GS, but let's wait for the reliability of the 1300GS.
Enjoy the ride and hopefully the GS remains trouble free 😁
@@gsd32i Honestly, I leave my hopes to the church and prepare for the fact that even the last type of great motorcycle the Germans produced was swallowed by the rule of quantity, not quality (as happened with all German cars). 😉

Sign me up for some lessons, this dude can ride :D
1 carful owner 😂
Nice to see the bike used like this though 👍
😅
what happened to the tire pressure? 6:23
he was adjusting the tyre pressures all morning for the changing conditions and the tpms had a heart attack trying to work out what was going on!
One careful owner
What jacket is he wearing?
Bering Austral jacket and trousers 👍
I took note of the license plate of the motorcycle. I don't want to buy it by accident. :D
😂
Yes, practice makes perfect (perfectly muddy!). Loved how the rider fell off but the gs stayed standing,as if to show off😂. Impressive…
I wonder what the lady on the other end of the SOS button had to say about that! All I did was drop my 1250R taking it off its centre stand and she was on to me before I could even swear.
😂
What is the message on the screen???
There were lots I think the bike was in panic mode. Numerous SOS calls were started by the system too. 😂
ah yes there is also the SOS :D@@gsd32i
Tyre pressure
Outstanding rider, definitely shows what can be accomplished on the new GS - not that this is surprising, tho. The majority of BMW GS/A riders run out of talent long before the bike runs out of ability and capacity.
Non-sugar coated feedback on the editing: The music selection is absolutely atrocious. You have a voice - use it. The only reason I didn’t click away was because of the rider.
Can’t please everyone . But hey that’s the way it goes . Ride safe 👍
Sorry to be contrary but taken as a whole I saw a capable rider who could afford to drop the bike riding around a rehearsed environment and still struggling with it while a real world GS rider worried about getting his bike dirty. What possible advantage would a £17k GS have over a £13k 890 adv R or T7 WR for this kind of riding? I love all bikes but find the marketing kidology frustrating.
No need to be sorry . The reality is a small junior sized motocross bike would wipe the floor with all these bikes including the 890adv. All a bit of light hearted entertainment and yes a plug for the GS. Way above my skill set and couldn’t wait to get my bike nice and clean , although riding kit is still splattered in mud !! Hopefully you enjoyed some of the content . Ride safe 😄
I think my reaction was to others thinking the video demonstrated how capable the GS was off-road when my camper van could have managed a fair bit of it. 😁
My comparison to the T7 and 890 was with other adventure bikes that can cover road miles with luggage as well as off road. Maybe we should start labelling adventure bikes like we label adventure tyres. A GS would be a 80:20, Tenere/Dessert X/890 adv 50:50; 690 Enduro/DRZ400/CRF300 20:80, your motorcross bike example would be 0:100.
@@webmuir Yes indeed and my skill set would be 100/0😂. Have a great week keep it upright!
Buy a BMW approved used ex-demo bike, maintained to the highest standards 😅 Great video though 👍
😂
One lady owner or our own demonstration bike road use only 🤔 I wonder how that will be described on sale 😢
Indeed😂
Jesus it takes some skill to throw around a bike that heavy..
eerrr.....where's the extreme bit?
Not sure😂
Mental note; never buy a dealer demonstrator bike.
OK. F' it. I'm buying one .
i can drive my ford escort everywhere and anywhere it went ffs and have me bird with me !!

Video ruined by ludicrous xylophone music
oh well . check out the other video in the link below . no xylophone music in that one . ride safe . 👍
The stupid music ruined your video.
Can’t please everyone . 😁
