Slowdive is simply one of the greatest bands in music history. How a band could return after a 22-year absence and make an album as great as anything they've done, is so unfathomable and triumphant-it's nothing short of a miracle. What a gorgeous song!
My Bloody Valentine did exactly the same too somehow. Two decades to recharge the batteries... Autolux released 3 albums over their 20 years together... I guess good music takes time to brew.
@@elemkay5104 - Slowdive had their career cruelly cut short by fickle music listeners, critics, and quickly abandoned by their label, leaving their releases to collect dust in bargain bins for many years. My Bloody Valentine never suffered nor fell out of favor with music listeners, ever. For Slowdive to make their comeback took great courage and fortitude.

I still can't believe Slowdive returned after so many years and made a kick ass album. That shit just doesn't typically happen.
I never thought that the 2017 album was amazingly good. It surpassed my expectations

The intro is a masterpiece itself.
It doesn't even sound like that on the album!
The ending is far better than the album too.
The intro to "Underworld Live Roskilde Festival 1996 29/6" sounds like this intro too, but heavily distorted
... and so is that ending!
When I listen to that I think about the sharing a bed with someone you love at winter, cuddle limitelessly at the early dawn half foggy and half orange at the golden hour in the morning
The recording team for KEXP should start a production company that produces and records live performances!
They're doing live performances and kexp is in a way a production company. I love them how they are. It's their thing

Goddamn, every time I watch a KEXP live performance video I think they have the best sound engineers on the planet.
after 3 long years i can't escape from this song. I'm involved in its sadness and melancholy.
I just discovered this around 72 hours ago, never knew it existed. I can't describe how this makes me feel.
I recommend listening to the entire album Slowdive (2017). This might be the best one on the record but there are some other great tunes on it.

Rachel Goswell's synthesizer work on this recording outdid the album version. Nice and moody. Wonderful performance by an extremely gifted group of musicians.
Agree. Nothing sounds like a Roland Juno - such a timeless warm organic analog synth sound.

Agreed. Actually, though, Goswell only sang on the album. Neil Halsted did the Synth and programmed drums over the live stuff as well.

One of my younger friends passed away and I inherited his Slowdive albums. They were the later ones. Let’s just say I rediscovered them. Still got it! Beautiful noise.

This song is a masterpiece, and the live version is better than the album. Can't begin to describe how much I love this song (and album) and how much its helped me over the past few years.
This version is perfect, makes me feel goosebumps... only a few songs have that feeling.
Makes me wonder if we even deserve something as beautiful as this.

My go to band for complete serenity and music immersion of the beautiful expression of the instrumental merging with the voices snaps me out of pain, irritation, grief, panic attacks, PTSD, or anxiety. I feel stronger and relaxed and ready to face my feelings after a listen. Plus, I just enjoy their chill music. They are fantastic. I love them so.

I discovered this song live after not ever knowing who they were. This was their first song and the molly had just kicked in. It was incredible.

@@arloharnish This is what good mixing sounds like. It's really astounding how many great and widely successful muscians use sub par mixing at their live shows.
Star Roving in particular sounds muddy on the record compared to the KEXP mix.
All of them are deep into the music, enjoying themselves. Super record!

This is phenomenal.
A couple of years ago I went to see them live. This song came on and it was just perfect. I went by myself and at one point I told the dude next to me that if I was dreaming and I'd want this to be the soundtrack music. Without skipping a beat the dude responded with , "How do you know you're not dreaming right now?" I instantly melted on to the floor into other realities.

I thought their new album was great, really captured the vibe of their old stuff but with a bit of a modern spin.
I completely agree. There have been so many bands that went on a long hiatus over the years and whenever they came back, most of them seemed to want to go in a completely different direction. So refreshing to have a band stay true to their sound with just enough of a twist to make their sound more current and contemporary. An incredibly hard thing to do and a sign of genius and remarkable musical craftsmanship. Kudos to you Slowdive.

@@witko7239 Gracias por el consejo, pero mi nivel de sensibilidad siempre está muy alto y jamás una canción me ha desgarrado, todo lo contrario, la música siempre ha sido mi gran compañera, con la que he soñado, he pensado, me he inspirado, me he alegrado y también me he entristecido. Más bien son algunas personas y hechos graves de la vida que te pueden afectar y que hay que afrontar y superar. Es la vida!
