funny during the ad i say to myself do i really want ludwig to catch me up on this, then you start w i’m not the guy for this lmao. got a laugh out of me i will be here for a moment before departing
I’ve seen a lot of people talking about Kendrick being mad about RKelly’s music being taken down and people are forgetting that he wasn’t mad about that, he was mad about the double standard that other white artists who were convicted of, or admitted to, a similar if not the same crime still had their music up on streaming platforms. Just look at a lot of classic rock (Iggy Pop, Jimmy Page, Ted Nugent) or Jerry Lee Lewis who married a minor. Just wanted to comment this because I don’t see ppl acknowledging Kendrick’s actual intentions in that situation.
He did it because they were gonna take XXXTentacion's music out of Spotify's promotional algorithm before he was even convicted of anything. His trial hadn't concluded yet, but Spotify was willing to judge him themselves, saying he's guilty enough to have his SEO ruined and his music removed from top playlists like RapCaviar.
He and his label were mainly worried that once Spotify started censoring artists (Especially starting with a Black artist) then that would open the floodgates for Spotify to censor any artist they wanted for any reason they wanted. Spotify already had a shoddy history of inconsistent moderation and rule enforcement on their platform. There was obviously also a legitimate concern that Black artists would get unfairly treated and censored by Spotify if they were allowed to have such censorship powers.
A few things that Lud didn’t mention: Drake also claims in his last 2 disstracks that Kendrick is a wife beater and nobody in Kendrick’s camp has commented on it so far, but Kendrick previously tried to discredit Drake in Euphoria by calling him a liar and manipulator, who’ll resort to lies on future disses. In “The Heart Part 6”, the title being a reference to Kendrick’s “The Heart“ series of songs, Drake also claims the reason Kendrick is so obsessed with Drake being a pedo is him being sexually abused as a child and mocking him for it, referencing Kendrick’s song “Mother I Sober“. However in Mother I Sober the point was that Kendrick wasn’t sexually abused as a child, but that the generational trauma still affected him because of the behavior and questions of his mother, who was abused as a child
Seen a lot of people mentioning Kendrick not responding to the abuse allegations, like have y'all not listened to the songs? I swear he repeats the bar about Drake making up stories on the family front every song, maybe he isn't addressing it directly but from the start the way he responded to all of drakes allegations about his family is "you're making up stories, misheard my album, and are trying to manipulate and audience". Like do you need him to say that on repeat every minute of actual diss?
@@decoy8198And ultimately, it's up to Drake to prove that Kendrick has been abusing his partner. It's also on Kendrick to prove that Drake is what Kendrick says he is, but it seems like Kendrick has been slowly providing more details on that front (naming people in OVO and what they've done) while Drake kinda just keeps repeating the same allegation

Top Dawg officially said that Kendrick has been planning this entire roll out for a while and that Drake walked right into the trap. I'm sure that on Friday after J Cole dropped the diss track Kendrick called him, said hey man it's all good but this beef is something you shouldn't get involved in (as a friend), you should politely dip out of this because it's about to get VERY HEAVY
Oh now it's a trap? All Drake had to do was not to be dumb and shut his mouth? When j Cole apologized he didn't notice a thing? Drizzys fans make a lot of excuses for the idol, bruh.....
The "how many black features til you finally feel black enough" line is also a double entendre jab at the fact that Drake got a nose job implying that he's changing his facial features to fit in with a culture that he steals from for his own personal gain without giving back to, or speaking on the issue of that community. Crazy shit
@@jakedubspeanut butter is the only thing I remember but it's wild to just say black people haven't invented anything. It's beyond ignorant, it's just plain stupidity.

Honestly doesn't even have to do with race/culture/music... The fact this escalated into beef is insane. Just goes to show how disconnected these people are from the average person's experience. Most of us are just trying to get by one day to the next. We aren't about to add more to our plate by starting beef with someone over something so juvenile.
I always start from the "bottom" up. As in, I start with a couple quick little 2 min or less vids that get me a baseline, then I move on to stuff like this to explain a little more in depth. Then I move on to the more culturally embedded for their takes, so I understand way better by then lol
Thank you for covering this. I too mostly listen to anime osts and have been perplexed what all this kendrake diss track stuffs been about lol. I'm even half white so close one.
Reminds me of that Instagram Reel where they were making fun of the beef with the Reel ending with Drake saying "I see England I see France I see Kendrick's underpants. Kendrik Lamar? More like Lame-ar"
J Cole really pulled a Doctor Strange sorcery here. Sorcerers cannot see the future beyond their deaths. And in the parallel universe where he didn't apologize, he did not see his future.
A few things worth adding imo: 1. I think Kendrick is ahead, but to be a bit fair to Drake, Kendrick was always going to win the public. Culture 100% sided with Kendrick from the start, and people want to see Drake lose this. So I try not to base my thoughts on what social media or numbers are saying, because they were always going to favor Dot. 2. Rap is really winning with this. I don’t think we’ve ever seen two giants battle over this many tracks. We’ve seen longer battles with smaller artists and big artists with a couple tracks back and forth, but I can’t ever recall this much back and forth by probably the two biggest artists in rap. And so blatant/direct too. 3. Another W out of this is the J. Cole memes ever since we realized how much these other two hate each other lmao. He got clowned for backing out but it seems like everyone agrees now that he made the right call because this is nowhere near some friendly competition.
People need to read your first point over and over again. The Kendrick glazing I've seen online is just wild. So many people made their mind up on who won before even hearing a second of any of these songs. Imo, Kendrick was up until Drake dropped The Heart Part 6. Either way it's still wide open and either one of them could win it. It's just a shame that so many people have so much bias that it makes even discussing the beef a waste of time for the most part.

It was about targeted biased censorship, not defending R Kelly specifically. Next time someone tries to claim Kendrick was defending R Kelly, know they're just regurgitating stuff from the internet.

What makes Not like Us arguably a little worse than Meet The Grahams is that it's actually a song you could hear in the club. So you're gonna have people at clubs dancing to and singing about Drake being a pdf file, a horrible person, etc. 💀
Kendrick's drones don't even have basic comprehension of what's going on. The fact Kendrick basically has to resort to conjecture, slander and espousing misinformation seeded by Drake is devastating for Kendrick. Drake told the truth. Kendrick is shorter than his wife. Kendrick beat his wife. Kendrick's best friend f***** his wife.
Bruh, how are all the Kendrick diehards talking about how you need to be so analytical to understand his lyrics and then completely fail to understand basic lines from drake 🤦♂️
@@20009152 Maybe him and his two writers (who are credited on the song, not even mentioning the ghost writers who are working overtime) need to do a better job, if so many people “don’t get it.”
I really appreciate the breakdown (it's hard to keep up when they don't stop releasing diss tracks) 👍 It's so silly to think this whole thing started because one guy said "I'm the best", another one replied with "No, I'm the best" and then it just snowballed from there 🤷 That being said, I can't shake the feeling this could be just a publicity stunt (it's getting traction, after all).
The R-Kelly point is so weird, at least the way its shared on Twitter, they retweet the headline, which contains the article that says that Kendrick felt the new thing that spotify put in place was disproportionately affecting black artists, and then also lists like 6 other artists that were going to be taken down, I really don't think kendrick was doing all that just because he supports specifically R-Kelly
@gerald957 I mean if Kendrick was outright supporting R-Kelly, the hypocrisy would be that he's calling out Drake for being a predator while supporting R-Kelly who has a history of sexual abuse
I believe his problem was with how it's a first step into censorship for artists and he didn't want to support that. If you say something some people didn't like, they could delete you from their services. So labels would've worked against their artists freedom of speech to secure a place on spotify. R.kelly and XXXtentacion are just the names everyone drops about this story since it would've most likely affected them.
@Nyahami It might have been about that, I don't know his motivations, the article was about a spotify change to take music down from people who had been convicted/alleged criminals, but the people being taken down were primarily black artists without many known white artists being taken down

W context
Just re uploads going to randoms instead of victims of r Kelly
He did it because they were gonna take XXXTentacion's music out of Spotify's promotional algorithm before he was even convicted of anything. His trial hadn't concluded yet, but Spotify was willing to judge him themselves, saying he's guilty enough to have his SEO ruined and his music removed from top playlists like RapCaviar.
Michael Jackson’s music slowly backing up into the bushes like homer

This video is funny... Intro to Rap beefs . You nailed it for your viewers
Well, Ur vid was constantly popping up on my recommended, and I have listened to like two anime songs and the only game ost i have is from CoD zombies
A few things worth adding imo:
For the third point, it’s been reported Schoolboy Q told J Cole to stay out the beef
@@djjjjjdthe heart part 6 was mid. So in my book, kendrick still up though i want evidence for his claims that drake is running a child trafficking bussiness.

For the fact check sheet: Kendrick never said he would remove his songs if R. Kelly / XXXtentacion's songs were taken down, that was Top Dawg
Yeah the reason he did it was because he felt like it unfairly targeted artists of colour.
@@iamahiphopfan3759 I get but I also wouldn’t be doing that over R Kelly. Maybe say take down “insert artist(s),” too.
It was a misconstrued clickbait and an example of poor journalism. Kendrick did not give support to R Kelly

I agree. I also fail to see how he’s hypocritical, like he’s not calling for Drake’s music to be taken down
@gerald957 I mean if Kendrick was outright supporting R-Kelly, the hypocrisy would be that he's calling out Drake for being a predator while supporting R-Kelly who has a history of sexual abuse
