    This is one of the best “tips” you can do . This really fixed my early extension and adding loft , flip etc. This move with the shallow the club helped me a lot. Along with more knee flex pretty much have solved my shanks. Been doing this for about 3 weeks with foam balls in the garage every day.

    Love these 2 moves Russell. I see early extension in just about every golf swing I look when getting asked for advice. It's so common and causes so many issues in the golf swing. These moves will help golfers stop early extension and stay in posture much better. Cheers

    Russell, been following your advice for the past year. Did a swing change and one week hit fantastic. I Commented on this prior. You said don't give up keep trying the movement. It takes time and effort. Your thoughtful on your approach. As we self diagnose our problem, you reinforce "the sum of the parts equal the whole".
    Great video- keep up the great work.

    Just watched this and love it. I took a lesson because I notice my divots and toe hits suggested over the top movement. She had no mention of me standing up or hip getting closer to ball on down swing. She just had me feel the more inside out swing. Started video of my swing at range and notice right away that my hips were closer to ball on downswing than on backswing along with standing up. BOOM, there's my real problem. I like your over exaggerated example of hip down rotation. Thank you.

    What a great video. One of the best I have watched. As a sufferer of early extension, I try different feels. I get it, then lose it then try all sorts to figure it out again. This though is the best for me. By doing this gives me the feeling of squatting which then allows me to build pressure from the ground up through the left leg. Thanks for sharing and also that you have to play silly shots to improve. People look at you strange on the range when trying something different. It’s not all about sending bombs. ⛳️

I LOVE your communication style and your insistence on the fact it isn't going to happen by just watching A video. WE must spend time doing what you suggest. Thank you. You have helped me. I am killing my drives and irons. I shot a 74, 76, 77, and a 78, four days in a row. I made correctable mistakes in judgement, wrong iron, etc. I was consistent and compressed the ball better.

    Played 9 holes yesterday, hot and windy, so ball striking was below par compared to the last few weeks. I still had some good holes but I was a bit disappointed with some of my shots (seemed to fall back into bad habits) I know I can get more "snap" when I hit the ball in practice. So, went to the oval and worked on the main points I've adapted to, every thing seemed fine but I was still not getting those really crisp hits. So I focused on the lead hip clearing and not allowing too much weight shift.......Then I got it....I had to PULL into the lead side more and use the ground to fight against the initial down swing. I've heard another instructor describe it as the "jam jar" effect......your legs and hips are the jar and the upper body the lid, you mentally open or close the jam jar, the upper and lower body move against each other to create more club head speed and all the benefits. Maybe something you could do a video on?

  • @jeremysturgill7465

    One question. If the early hip extension is caused in a swing by getting steep immediately in the downswing and the hips are trying to rotate but you have to early extend in order to hit the ball, wouldn't simply getting the club shallower and on plane to start the downswing automatically correct the hip extension? I mean if the early extension is a correction but you eliminate the need for the correction your body tends to be pretty smart about things like that.
    I guess this seems like an ideal fix when the hips aren't working at all or only working laterally, or when swallowing the club makes the player get so stuck they can't hit the ball at all?

  • @BruceBusby
    @BruceBusby Před 4 lety +5

    Leaving your hands up momentarily at the beginning of the downswing should shallow the club a bit since you'll be turning away from it. Just a thought

    I do this think this can help people, but do think tips like this can lead to other unwanted side effects for amateurs who may not be yet swinging on optimal swing plane. If you can teach someone to get on a proper swing plane which is not easy to do, they will not have this early extension issue. This may be an intersting tip and popular topic among CZcams golf videos, but I don't think it will have meaningful long term impact on most amateurs trying to learn proper golf swing.
