Nigel, a positive thing about Chinatowns, Koreatowns, Greektown, etc.. is that it gives people an opportunity to experience food and culture from other countries, without having the expense of traveling to those countries.
Also it's convenient to have businesses that cater to a certain demographic all in one neighborhood. Like how in a Chinatown you can go straight from the butcher to the dried stuff place to the bakery all in one block.
@@deathpyre42 and since it's normally kept to a small area, then it's not like it's going to affect the feeling of the country once you get a few minutes away from the neighbourhood, so the overall city still has a strong sense of its country
And most of the time, Asian neighborhood restaurants provide the best value for your money.
Plus they sell stuff with flavour.
I love what you said about work ethic. I had Chinese bosses for 17 yrs (waited tables in their restaurant) and they taught me SO MUCH about a good work ethic. When I started I couldn't understand what the big deal was about being one or two minutes late. After hearing "HOW CAN WE DEPEND ON YOU?" enough times, I learned. By the end, when they retired I was always 20 min early. It taught me how much better it is to be early and have extra time to be prepared for the day ❤😁
People relied on me too much in a service job, getting asked to work at short notice even when I specifically booked time off for holidays. No, I can't come in I'm not in the country! And for what? Min wage! Fuck being taken advantage of!
I hope they paid you for that extra time though. Your job isn't your life, you don't need to dedicate it to a business you don't even own.

Arriving 10 mins earlier is a good habit, don't beleive in those "extra pay" shit. Money is not always the most important thing.

In our house, the floor is cleaner than the soul of the person who refuses to take off their shoes.
Same, I grew up in a household where we didn't wear shoes inside. Guests take off their shoes. It's gross to track everything on your shoes inside your house.
Keeping shoes on can also wear out flooring or even damage it if there's small rocks or debris stuck to the shoe.
Shoes worn outside are not worn inside. End of discussion. I’ve got slippers/indoor shoes and if I’m going somewhere that I want [shoes] I’ll bring said clean shoes.

I’m a psychologist and that woman who wrote in and said that my community think that pedophila is comparable to the homosexuality is a bigot. That‘s not correct. It’s an argument that ignorant and bigoted toward homosexuality specialists and people in the Catholic Church often assert. There has never been and honestly never will be science that back any of what she wrote as pedophilia just has nothing to do with homosexuality or with being born that way. When someone makes these statements they are trying to say that homosexuality is a mental illness as well. To say that women are incapable of it is laughable. Men are the largest offender of pedophilia but women do commit it as well. If you go around saying women can’t be pedo then when a child comes forward saying their mother or aunt is doing it no one will believe and it’s hard enough to get help for victims thanks to people like this. Also pedophilia is defined in the dsm as sexual acts or attraction towards juveniles under 13 years or under. So when you talk of women screwing a 15 year old and up in high school; yes it’s wrong but you haven’t even reached pedophilia yet. We are talking people who think about children. Small ones that cannot defend themselves and should not be sexualized but protected. A 15 year old in high school can be molested against their will but they can make choices, bad ones but choices nonetheless. A child 13 and under is not consenting. No matter what a pedo says.
Attraction towards children is a disorder and is not there from birth. It is created by either mental illness, abuse, or nurture(meaning a series of events in their life that did not teach attraction to children to be abnormal) sexual abuse suffered by the abuser themselves or all of the above. There is very little to no ability to stop the attraction once it is deep rooted. Homosexuality is from birth and many have even come out as children. Or talk about knowing from a very young age that they had crushes on the same sex. The majority of studies done on homosexuality being the same as pedophilia came out of the Catholic Church and were not in fact studies but rather ignorant statements placed into papers not based off science at all and every single one of them have been shot down by the scientific community with resounding “this is disgusting and hateful”. It should be said that to make sure that they can’t just keep coming back with “well you can’t prove it’s not” a few large studies were done on this. One not to be helpful but ended up being so anyways as it’s just facts. They kept changing the parameters as they weren’t getting the results they liked and that’s bad science but it shows just how dumb and hateful this is. The studies found that sex offender towards children who were scanned, asked thousands of questions about age preferences and when they started feeling them were more likely to have strong and established feeling towards children past the age of 18. In fact it seemed to be very few that felt attraction to children when they were under 18 and those offenders were attracted to juveniles between 14 and 18 the majority of the questionnaires and many were in relationships with adults as well. So the offense was in the past and not pedophilia. However the pedophiles started noticing attraction towards 13 and under well above 18 years of age. This disproves any connection to homosexuality and the idea of being born that way. If they were just born with pedophilia they would have known when they started having sexual attractions at 11-13 or crushes like all people. It is a disorder. Let’s say instead it was a mental illness that is genetic and they were born with it(it’s not) that would still not be the same as homosexuality and it also wouldn’t be an excuse. If you are born with diabetes due to bad genetic lottery you can’t just eat what you want and ignore it. There’s consequences. The person who wrote in that completely incorrect and ignorant letter is either a pedo trying to make excuses for doing the wrong think to children or a ignorant and hateful person who feels the need to try and compare sexual preferences that are healthy and have been around as long as humans and longer. Children can’t make a choice for a loving sexual relationship. They are children. We are supposed to protect them. Not pretend abusing them isn’t a choice it a birth right. I have empathy for the perverse thoughts that happen to someone with a mental illness or a disorder but it’s a choice to act on them. Pedophiles are generally a friend or a family member to the child. Imagine that betrayal. As a victim and a therapist I can tell you being believed as a child can be nearly impossible for most children. As the family simply can put their heads around a loved one doing that. Can google doctors, Facebook warriors and people with zero education in a subject please just keep out.

American here. I think this is a regional thing. I grew up in upstate New York. I would be in so much trouble if I trekked snow or rain in the house. Doubly so if I were at my Grandmother's. We always took our shoes off.

Adoption is hit or miss and I should know I am adopted
My mom is a psychiatrist and she told me, the thing is, most (not every) pedophile was the victim of child molestation. Also, it's not something that can "stop" or something you can outgrow. But as far as I understand the best psychiatrists can do, is help them to not act on their desires. I don't know about the US or the UK but where I'm from there used to be different cathegories as well, depending on the victims ages. Because the fucked up thing is, a lot of ppl who rape underage kids are not technically pedophiles. Most often they are drunk relatives (with teens). They usually don't get caught and persecuted. It's quite common around here, and it is really like domestic abuse, hard to prove, and usually there isn't any way of dealing with them...
