- In this video I help my brother install a Go Fast Bits (GFB) blow off valve (BOV) on his 2018 Subaru WRX. The steps in this video will work for the 2015 to 2020 WRX. The intention was to give you the detail needed to do this same modification in your driveway at home. The BOV was purchased through Modern Automotive Performance (MAP).

I’m curious when doing the BOV did you guys have to run a COBB accessport ? Or did you guys run the BOV without it and if so did any problems arise to the WRXs turbo
We didn't run an access port. We had no issues with the car and he put approximately 15k on the car before trading it.
I have the same bov in my 2017 wrx, when I have it venting to atmosphere fully, or you would say the loudest setting, car tends to jerk when shifting at high rpms, then I close it about half way and the jerkiness stops any ideas or if you guys ran into that
We only opened it about 1/2 to 2/3 and noticed no drivibility issues
FA motors use a MAF sensor so it's better to use a BPV instead of a BOV. For what u just said is happening it is because the MAF sensor reads all that air that goes through it but since ur venting it all to the atmosphere it doesn't sence it recirculating back into the intake so it starts sending more fuel and making it run rich. Run it 50/50 vent to and recirculate and you shouldn't have any issues
Checking in on the post...did u end up having to get a tune? Or are u running 100%recirculating still?how is it running?
There were no issues with the car. He did end up trading it on a final edition EVO. The 12k the BOV was on the WRX prior to trading had no issues and no tuning.
@@Driven2Compete what setting did you run it at? 50/50 or what? Since so far I've heard I had to get ta tune and I wanna make sure I don't risk anything.
50 / 50
I'm running mine after finally installing it at about 60 40 and no issues after 3 weeks 🤞🏽
@@Kanadian-Squirrel nice let me know how it goes
Can this damage my engine ? My wrx is totally stock
They are for turbo cars
@@Maxthecarguy0 all WRX are turbo cars...
Did you put a tune on as well
Just a basic tune from MAP
I just installed BOV (plug n play) on my 2020 wrx cvt and it runs good but when I’m in park and rev it to 3-4k rpm the engine slowly dies, is it normal or not?
No, that is not normal
Im still learning so what should i need to do? Can i still keep it driving.
@@rjmercado5348 you will need to adjust the BOV like I discussed in the video.
@@Driven2Compete ok sir I will do that, after that the car will be fine
I did the same thing what you did on the video but still the same, the engine slowly dies
Can this be installed on cvt?
I wondet
omg it take 10 times longer to install bov than old GC8
Never put a blowoff vavle in these cars. Makes engine run lean on and off. Put a Boomba bypass valve on and your engine will love you. Ask any tuner, bad idea
its a hybrid bov/bpv
You can always get a speed density tune and be fine
@@Roxas_DM how can I do to get speed density tune can I do it with Cobb access port
@@hectorguerra6957 contact a local tuner and they will do it through your access port.
