"At first I thought premixed grout was garbage, but then I learned I was garbage." LOL this is literally how I approach teaching any topic. I love it!
Haha, definitely good to have a bit of humility when attempting a DIY project
Thanks for putting your time into this video. I'm doing my kitchen counters for the first time.
@joshrg22 most definitely! Glad the video can be of use for you during your install
Thank you for your video. It helps a lot. I am a 75 senior trying to use the premix Grout.
I watched a bunch of how to videos on grouting and this one was the simplest, easiest to understand and most helpful one by far! My backsplash (first time tiling ever) turned out great! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Awesome, thank you! Glad your project turned out well and that the video was of good use 🙂
Thank you for getting straight to the point. Great instructional with very helpful tips. I also appreciate your candor mentioning you thought the product was garbage, but it was your approach!
It's a great reminder that the tool is only as good as the person using it.
I try to be as straight forward as I can on these videos. I'm a DIYer, not a professional 😅 so I try not to come off as knowing everything. Appreciate the feedback on the video and thoughtful comment!
Hey even pros can learn a new thing or two as they go!
Thanks for the response. I'm just about to start grouting and I am rewatching your video to make sure I get it right.
Have a fantastic day!
I am new to grouting. I have to regrout my bathroom. I decided on pre-mix. I watched utube videos. When I went to grout for the first time (last night). I ended up with my own method created out of responding to my own work. In the end I am doing the same things as shown in this video. Seems we arrived at the same process. One thing I will try, from this video, is applying more grout than I have been. I have been taking too long I think because I am really finessing it. I will try more course application.
Hope your project comes out well and thanks so much for sharing your process. Premix is a great product for small DIY projects
I like your laid-back attitude. This video helped me get started on my tiling project, gave me the confidence that I could do it. Thanks!
Glad the video was of good use!! Appreciate the feedback as well
Just yesterday I grouted my first backsplash using bagged grout. Wish I had seen this first. Live, watch, and learn. You have given me some helpful tips for next time.
There's always another home tile project haha, premix is definitely worth a try
Good job. You made it look easy.
Fun story: the guy that did the tile in my bathroom did good with the shower walls, but within 3 days, I started having some loose tiles and peeling grout. 6 months later majority of the tiles on my floor are loose. I’ve definitely never done flooring a day in my life, but from what I’ve gathered, I don’t think he “buttered” the tile while applying it. So here I am trying to make my life easier by applying fix a floor under all of these tiles and bought premixed grout to regrout. I’d just pull all the tile up, but I’ve already got my toilet installed and this is my only bathroom. Lol. I’m going to have to do 2 long tiles at a time so I can still use my bathroom.
Anyways, you’ve made this look pretty easy and I can’t wait to start! I’m glad you showed how to remove haze and timings because I was a little confused about when/how to clean and dehaze. I always heard not to use premixed grout, but I want this diy fix to go pretty quick and simple because I have plenty of other diy projects to do in this old house.
Enjoyed your story 😀 same here as far as I was look8ng for a way to speed up my tile project given all the 9ther home projects I had haha. Pre-mix done right, is definitely a time saver
You just made me less garbage!... thanks man.. perfect.
Haha glad to be of service, I walk so you can run 💪🏾
What a fantastic well explained video.
@bocachad2092 glad the video came across well, and the explanation was clear!
Thank you! You helped me figure out what went wrong on my first wall. Now I’m ready to finish the other walls with less struggle and mess.
GREAT tip on wring out in the 1st bucket!
I had a lot of cross contamination first time I attempted this haha. Learn by trial and error
Jusy yesterday i bought this same grout for my kitchen i made a mess Lucky i did a small area, glad to have found your video i will try again mayby i will come an expert😅
2nd time will be good I bet! It was in my case
Dang! Super helpful tips. Needed this YESTERDAY. Going to try this today and it should go much better thanks to you!

Excellent tutorial; thank you!
Thanks for the feedback on the video!
Just used this product for a shower re-tile. Loved it. I recommend a 3rd bucket, one to wash your hands
It's an amazing time saver for the average DIYer. Nice tip on the hand cleaning bucket!
Thank you so much for this video. I was so afraid to use this grout on our peel and stick groutable tile after reading the reviews. My floor looks amazing and you are awesome. 😊
Glad it was helpful! And glad your project came out well 👍🏾 it's an awesome product when applied correctly
Thanks for 2 bucket method.
@@ernestposey7427 glad it was helpful!
Very helpful! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video. I watched a lot of other grouting videos but was still too intimidated and confused to do it. Yours was so clear and I also appreciate that you didn’t take half the day saying it! Also appreciated the tools list. Just subscribed. You are a keeper.
Also your little supervisor is adorable! ❤
😀 thanks for the thoughtful response, really helps when developing future videos. Glad the video provided the necessary confidence in your upcoming project, good luck! I know it will turn out well

"It turns out I was garbage..." Me making mistakes during every diy.
Lol, it's always a bit of a struggle in the beginning of a project
Lmao, everyone tells me no one will notice. But when I go to other peoples houses I notice haha- I’ll never tell them tho cuz ❤

Excellent how to and tips. I only wish I found this video before I grouted for the first time.
Glad the video proved to be useful, there will always be more grout/tile projects haha
Very helpful video pal. Thanks a mil bro. 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad the video was helpful!
Thank you for this. Grouting my shower tonight for the first time.
No problem and glad the video was useful for you. Good luck with your grout job!!
Gold
Thank you. I feel ready to get this grout in now!
Good luck with your project!!
Thank you. Sadly, the spacers won't break free, so I have to get them out first
@dominiqueraymond2174 DIY will always have a surprise or two, small obstacle to an expected good outcome 👍🏾
🙂 I'm definitely realizing that. I appreciate the confidence as well. I got them out, and the grout in. It does actually look pretty good so far. Thank you again for your advice. As well as your encouraging words!
very nice
Thank you!!
Nice grabbed everything I needed and it came out nice..now I’m wondering should I put a grout sealer??
If your tile grout is in a high traffic area or exposed to moisture/water I would. I usually wait a few days to let grout set than apply the sealer. If those environment conditions don't apply, I usually skip the sealer part
u da man!
I liked this.
Good tip the 2 buckets you mentioned and keep areas small and manageable.
I'm going premix. Had a friggin nightmare with mixed powder and left it in too long.
Gotta try and patch up the rough grouting.
Any tips.. Do I just go over it using your method? 😊
I would try to use a Dremel tool to route the old grout out if able. If not, it wouldn't hurt to go over with the premix in a small area to see how well it adheres to the existing grout. Appreciate the time you took to comment and share your story!
@@EngineeredMojo
Thanks. I'm gonna go over the rougher grout with a light coating of the premix doing it with the short end of the grout float.. I cannot have the same disaster on other 3 walls or I'll be a crying man. 😢 I was so upset at first. Gutted!
@kspolosmith7815 Good luck with the project, I know it'll turn out great this next go around. I've been in the same issues haha
What did you use to remove the haze once it dries? I used on my gray tile and it hazed. I want to clean it out but its taking time.
I used the green brilo pad seen in the video and I believe ammonia free windex
If I use tiles with a little bit of a design on them, in other words, not absolutely shiny tiles, would the hazing be worse, more difficult to clean?
Maybe a bit worse,.but from other installs I have watched I don't think a noticeable difference overall
Is the pre-mix grout only good for one use? Or can any left over pre-mix grout be saved for future use?
You can certainly use left overs, make sure to seal/ close the bucket after every use
I started my project with a pre-mixed grout adhesive, testing it in a corner. It was very gritty, and did not match the existing, since I am doing repair--not a complete regrouting. Why is it so hard to find pre-mixed unsanded grouts? Does it have any particular properties that make it harder to work with? Thanks for all the great, common sense tips!!
It's definitely not the easiest to work with given it sets so fast compared to bagged. How long ago was the existing grout installed? I know I've done a deep clean of grout lines to get them to match better with new I am putting in
I've lived here over 40 years. It's a hodge podge of bad, crooked tiling, cracks, and discoloration. I've cleaned the grout lines, removed, and sawed down, filled large gaps with the pre-mixed, sanded, and cleaned with Aqua Mix NanoScrub, it's a water soluble cream polish-- that did an amazing job, making everything bright white with a high gloss on the tile and the ancient porcelain tub. Most of my prep work is nearly finished, and will be ready to test out the unsand the grout with a few of your tips...
@@JH-zr8lo that's some awesome work! Hopefully the grouting goes well and you're able to save a bit of time with the premix
Can you apply this to bathroom floor grout tiles?
Sure can! Good idea to seal afterward if using in a bathroom floor
Are u sealing this premix grout? If so how
This particular project I did not. If the grout is not in a high traffic or wet environment, I don't bother to seal. I don't have a video on sealing grout, but there are a few quality ones on CZcams I've watched in the past.
@EngineeredMojo Thanks I'm repairing a shower just two loose tiles and a soap dish with a larger tile. I got a not-so-chap sealer...
I didn't know if I was doing some overkill here but seems like I'll go ahead and just do a whole seal coat on the shower walls, as it's all fairly aged.
@matthew3454 probably a good approach for sure to be on the safe side
Do I need to spray a sealer after this application? Also, I want to add glitter to the grout. How easy or tricky is it with premixed? 🤔
I typically only add a sealer in high traffic areas or areas prone to get wet. I'll admit glitter might be tough with premix given how stiff it is, I would do a test batch and try it out. Sounds like a cool idea!
Where have you been my whole life?!?
1 degree of separation away on the internet :)
Do you have to seal the grout?
only if you want it to be sealed 😉
Ditto Bapu!
Why is my premixed grout sandy 8n texture:(
It will be sandy and very grainy, that's why you will have less working time than bagged grout.
@EngineeredMojo so the finish product is supposed to appear different? It's not smooth that it's dry it is rough looking in the grout lines this is normal?
@mom2blessings_sadie it should look like standard grout, it will have some texture. It won't be smooth like a sealant, but shouldn't be uneven and clumpy
@@EngineeredMojo could I email u a picture would u mind to let me know if it's normal or not?
But do I have to seal this grout. The tub directions say nothing!
If it's a wet or high traffic area I'd seal it. But if it's just a backslash or tile for shelf no need in my opinion
You only have seal it if you want to waterproof it.
Fusion grout is made by the same company, same colors and doesn't have to be sealed. the cost is double though.
Try to impress my wife build new kitchen tiles using premix grout, turned out suck my wife now think I didn’t know what the fuck I was doing everything look beautiful up until I apply this premix shooting grout on look like shit , so regretted bought this product
Haha it takes practice to use this option for sure!
Don't ever use this type of grout, its freaking hard to remove from tile and it has left a haze
Did you follow my tips?! You most likely applied too much at one time and let it set for too long
Dude, remix rout sucks , o spent more time cleaning up them grouting, bad product never recommend
Great tips!! THANKS!!
No problem! Glad the video had some value
