- Today, it's nearly impossible to believe the Earth is anything but round. But for most of our history, humans have thought Earth was flat.
The one concept our ancient ancestors were missing was gravity. Gravity's effects are the key to determining whether the Earth is actually flat, or not.
On a sphere, gravity pulls in the same direction everywhere on the surface. But on a disc, gravity changes direction as you move toward the edge.
At the center, you feel a downward pull just like on spherical Earth. But as you move out, gravity starts pulling sideways as well as a downwards.
This would wreak havoc on sports played in different parts of the world. A ball thrown straight up in the air mid-way out, would curve down and backward toward the disc's center. Plus, a ball thrown mid-way out wouldn't go nearly as high or far as a ball thrown up at the edge where gravity's downward pull is practically zero.
But sports are just the beginning. Since plant stems grow opposite to the direction of gravity, an effect called negative gravitropism, you'll see forests grow at an increasingly sharp angle the farther you are from the center.
Continue toward the edge and you feel like you're climbing a hill that's growing steeper with each step as the backward pull of gravity takes over. At Earth’s end, that hill will feel like a 90-degree cliff, pulling you back to the center. But if you could make it over the edge, and stand on the thin outer part of the disc, you'll feel downward pull just like on spherical Earth.
However, living here would be like living in a desert. Gravity's backward effects pull on the oceans too, making it impossible for any water to reach the edge. Instead, sea levels will gradually rise as you travel in, making the world's center an aquatic metropolis.
So, the next time you see an apple fall straight to the ground, thank your lucky stars that Earth is round. Because if it were flat, that apple might actually hit you in the face.

It’s actually pretty debatable as to whether people historically believed that the Earth is flat, at least within Historical times (as for pre-history, it’s hard to say whether they ever thought of that question). The majority of peoples since the Ancient Greeks pretty much accepted the Earth as round.

Well, many centuries ago people didn't know our earth is round, whereas other did. In the past many people feared to sail far away, because they thought they'd reach "the world's end" and would eventually fall to their death. What's why some people carried dead bodies to boats and let them sail to the lands unknown, thinking they'd reach the afterworld.

Flat earthers use gravity and physics to disprove gravity and physics. Their explanation as to why we're pushed down is that the earth is propelling upward and pushing everything down. If that were true, that would be an example of ground reaction force.

Sure, that plane is still within the earth's "gravitational influence" but because it is diving faster than gravity would pull it, things within the plane somehow find themselves outside of earth's gravitational influences. Watch this video and you will see water form a ball. Which means that the molecules of the upward curved sides of the ball are not effected by the gravity all around the plane. They aren't being pulled downward toward the center of the earth, but are simply clinging to each other.
Sure, someone might argue that this phenomena is taking place because of the pressure of the atmosphere within the plane; pushing equally on all sides of the water. However, 'science' would correct them by saying that the gravity generated by the mass of the water itself, pulls all the molecules around a central point. And therefore, the mass of the aircraft or the earth itself, wouldn't have a greater gravitational pull than the water.

That ridiculous idea of an upward propelling earth comes from Flat earth society which is a fake government created organization started back in the 70s to spread disinfo. The earth is not spinning or moving In any direction. Density explains why objects rise or drop depending on their surrounding medium. No need to assume there's a force under the ground pulling things down. If an object is more dense than air it's not gonna float off into an infinite vacuum.
I do not see a ball forming in that video Mephi. Once they pop the balloon, the water tries to stay together but it can't because it has nothing holding it together.
You do not see a perfect sphere form, I will give you that. Which is due more to the shock of the sudden snapping of the container that had previously bounded it (i.e. - the balloon).
But you *_can_* see the mass of the water pull (or be pushed) together. What you do NOT see, is the water flatten out and disperse; even though it is still well within the influence of Earth's gravity. I do not mean to imply that you should see any part of the water to fall to the floor of the plane. Instead, I'm saying, that though in free fall . . . it should still be effected by 'gravity'.
What you are seeing is visual evidence of _a lack of influence_ by a force said to be strong enough to hold oceans to all sides of a ball.

Yes, India as well. Christianity nor Islam or Judaism never peddled this information, only those that wished to push this agenda, such as White and Draper. While the catholic church did support an earth centric solar system (as did most of history) for awhile, they never argued against "ptolemy's error" but rather supported it (along with his geocentric model).. If you have evidence showing otherwise, I would be interested in reading it.

A prove that earth is round. If earth was flat, then the solar rays would go everywhere ,in every country at the same time. But this is impossible , right now, at a country is day and at another country is night. So, earth is round. Guys, it is so simple, just with an example.

If we are to construct an earth of some impossible material, strong enough to withstand the pull of gravity collapsing it into a ball, would there be a shape underneath (say, gradually increasing in mass as you head to the edge) that would allow the effect of gravity to be stable from the middle to the edge? It would be a fun campaign setting for a fantasy game.

I'm not in any ways a flat earth believer but this video is done assuming the flat earth has a core so grativational pull is to the middle. It does not necessarily have to be like that, imagine a big magnet of the shape of the earth which will not have a middle gravitational pull rather the same gravity throughout.
I worked as an Engineer at Arco CPF 1&2 in Kuparuk Oil Field West of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, near the op of the globe. If you completely ignored gravity and watched the sun in June like I did, you would see the sun seem to go in a circle during 24 hour daylight. Furthermore, the sun goes higher and lower in the sky as it goes around, lowest at midnight and highest at noon. The difference is about 23 degrees, the same Earth axis tilt that astronomers say gives us the 4 seasons. That would be totally impossible on any flat earth model.

One job at the Bapco Refinery in Bahrain in 1979 needed to be stopped for a few weeks waiting on parts. So I flew completely around the globe coming home. The trip... Schenectady to Albany airport by cab, JFK to London Heathrow to Bahrain. Spend a few days, get Olive to book my flights back to Albany...the other way, Eastward. So it was Bahrain to Mumbai, to Taipei to Honolulu to San Francisco to Chicago O'Hare then back to Albany, NY. All this way, I did not see no steenkeen ice wall.
The jet lag was staggering. It takes a day to get over each time zone. Bahrain was 10 hours ahead of New York time, 10 days for my internal clock to catch up. Our company Newsletter was called The Jet Set Gazette. We flew a lot. Flying home Eastward, it seems like days were only 8 hours long. Today, a long trip for me is to go downstairs to the fridge and grab a beer. Nothing can ever convince me that the Earth is anything but a globe. I hope this helps.....

wait how do you know that gravitational pulls would be different according to its shape. the disc could pull inwards also. gravity can move any way,you can not assume.
No gravity cannot pull any way it pulls only to a center. It would crush a flat earth into a ball under its own weight. Weight being something that can only exist through gravitational influence. A flat earth has no downward force to aid things to fall.
