  • Las Tablas Panama is in the Azuero Peninsula. It has a population of about 9500, with an estimated 200 ex-pats in the area. Las Tablas is a recognized national center of Panamanian folk: Art, music, gastronomy, architecture, culture, and literature.
    Las Tablas and Chitre are the two most affordable towns in the Azuero Peninsula. They both have modern hospitals, grocery stores, shopping, restaurants, and everything else you need for a good life in Panama.
    In this video, Wally and Sam talk about all there is to do and see in Las Tablas. Wally enjoys great fishing and golf. Golf is only $80 a month for unlimited golf after a $1000 membership fee. Sam enjoys running, races, and baking. They enjoy $5 meals at local fonda (Panamanian restaurant)

    I love their story so much, so relaxed so positive. I was born in Panama, have been in the US since 1973, it's home but retiring in Panama is not out of the question, something I would consider. Great info!

      Hi Deborah,
      Thanks for the detailed and informative video. Super helpful. You’re such a sweet couple.
      I’ve decided to book a tour with PRG. after watching this 😊
      I”m from Seattle too! So it sounds like you’re on the Azuero Peninsula Hornito spoke about in his previous comment?
      I know a requirement for me is to be within walking distance to the beach.. I love the warm weather but need water nearby to swim and for the breeze.
      How far is your home from the beach?
      And can you snorkel in the water there? How warm is it?
      On another topic: since Panama utilizes the Dollar, are you concerned re the volatility/manipulations still being tied to the currency of the USA?
      Thank you.

    • @deborahwalter8672
      @deborahwalter8672 Před rokem

      I would say we are not walking distance. There are two main beaches nearby where you can park or take a taxi. It ranges from a $2 each way visit or $7. One is ten minutes by car, the other is more like 18-20 by car. I think you can snorkel / I see folks swim or play in the further beach often. I would say the average temperature is 80-83* plus or minus five degrees - year round, both rainy and dry seasons. It is pretty great. We share just one vehicle and that works well enough. We used the guide so after your tour, you’ll have access and it’s well worth it. :) still don’t use an umbrella - even being from Seattle - it’s not bad here. Maybe for sun protection !

    My recommendation would be to ask also negative questions, such as, what do you miss the most from the States, how about family? What is the worst thing for you about Panama? And also interview people who aren't happy and might return. Show the negative side (which every place has) will give you a lot more legitimacy.
