- Following the defeat of King Piccolo, Goku goes to train with Kami. However, Kami believes that Goku may be trouble, another Piccolo waiting to happen. Now Kami betrays Goku and locks him away in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Will he be able to escape?

This what if is certainly strange, but I like the idea of Kami taking his role as Guardian of Earth a little too seriously and regretting it. I also like the idea of Goku not being "evil" but basically using the Earth as his gym lol

Is goku 730 years old? Saiyans do progressively age, as shown with Brolys father, but goku was stuck in that chamber for 2 years, but 1 day=1 year in the chamber... I knew it!

To be fair, Jr is essentially the copy of the original evil half yet he had the capacity for kindness. I’d like to imagine that the separation was less an eradication of either Nameks virtues or vices, but a relief. Both sides could develop new ones, but at the moment of their creation, they were prominently made up of Good and Bad

@@ProcyonDei For any reason, locking away a 12 year old boy in complete isolation is still pure evil. Especially since Kami planned for it to be permanent and hoped he died in there. Heck, Popo is the one who talked Kami down to confinement. Kami was gonna straight up seal a child away forever.

This was truly a unique take on a Betrayal Story, and one that actually seems to properly work and make sense in the DB World, especially given how early DB Kami was that paranoid. Also I like how unlike most other cliche betrayal stories Goku doesn’t go evil, just Apathetic-Mad and that, despite everything, there’s still some hope for him to be redeemed if things play out right. I do hope that the Z Warriors find out what Kami did from Popo.

it’s sad how right you are and i get that kami knew it was difficult to escape but after seeing goku’s potential he should know that with enough training that there was a chance he could escape
I like how this story turned out. It’s like getting the obviously bad ending in a video game and then watching the rest of it play out as a full-length movie.
There is a problem with the timelines: if Goku was sealed in the time chamber for 30 years that would mean that 30 days had passed on the outside world. As a result Krillin and Chi-Chi would still be kids. Same with Piccolo.
Can't they adjust the time dilation?
Thank someone for pointing this out. It's the ONLY argument that needs to be made about why this "what-if" scenario would never happen like this. I think it's pretty spot on with the Goku personification, and all that. But simply speaking, not a single person on the planet would be even a fraction of a fraction as strong as goku in this situation. And as it was stated, we didn't know about the time dilation for the HTC until DBS, but even if we did, we could assume Kami to turn it up to it's max in hopes of getting rid of Goku in the fastest way.
1:27 there’s a way to get around this. SmugStick could have said something along the lines of this. “For the next 3 years Kami decides to train and observe Goku’s progress and can tell that he’s growing at an alarming rate. On the day of the 23rd Word Martial Arts Tournament, Kami consults with Popo and decides that he will go face Piccolo Jr. himself. But before that he decides that the only way to get rid of goku is to trap him the HTC.”
Yeah, just have this be 2 years into his training with Kami and it works fine. I was thinking this re: Piccolo Jr, who was just recently hatched and nowhere near full power initially, but do it 2 or 2 1/2 years in and it's fine.
Maybe that means goku trained for 30 years on the perspective of someone outside the HTC.
So he actually trained for 30*365 years, or almost 11000 years.
That is a lot of time.
The only thing that makes this questionable is that Sayans might not live too long(it's said in the DBZ's epilogue that their youth is extended, but I'm not sure this means living for longer than written history)
This is actually my first time hearing about a story like this. The thought of Goku being betrayed never brought came to mind because it’s Goku, earth’s greatest hero it could have. Can’t wait for part 2!
Edit: I just remembered. No one knows what happened that made Goku this way. No one knows what Kami has done.

@@Marconel100 ik piccolo has some impressive regeneration but there is no way he could survive that or else he would be cell level of regeneration where a small part of him not dying immediately can make him fully regenerate

I have a slight idea for a future story. What if Kami decides to train more? After Goku defeats King Piccolo, Kami saw how beat up Goku was, and decides to train nonstop in case someone comes around who is even stronger than Goku and Piccolo's heir.
Now that would be an interesting what if

Honestly the idea of Goku having such a massive change to his character without turning him into a fully evil Goku is very interesting. As well as making him so strong this early in the story. You have also done a big change to his dynamic with his friends seeing as he's not viewed as a savior or an ally to them anymore. This makes this situation so much more unpredictable since Goku isn't really on anyone's side right now. If Raditz attacks him, he's his enemy but if the Earth forces attack him then they are his enemies. This apathetic position he is in right now has alot of potential for storytelling.
Now some people might think Goku being OP at the start is bad (I'm thinking more of the "Goku always wins" crowd rather than anyone else.) but seeing as Goku was beaten a lot through the Z portion of Dragon Ball I view this as a big change and an interesting one since he's not technically on the Earth's side. After all there are other planets and right now all he cares about is training. There are a lot of ways this story could go.

An apathetic Goku is something I'd never thought I'd see and would genuinely be a lot more dangerous than just someone evil since they're so unpredictable.

Goku didn't attack them, they attacked him and he only defended himself. He showed it by not attacking anyone after Kami died.

I appreciate these type of stories, where the story isn't just "what if Goku was just stronger" but rather an actual story change that changes the story itself. 1:02 first HUGE PLOT HOLE: Goku as kid had no evil proof: When devil man from babas saga used devil beam on Goku if there was even a little of negativity inside Goku: He would die. Goku survived, as a kid he has no NEGATIVITY
2:03 Second HUGE PLOT HOLE: Goku almost died spending 1 mounth in hyperbolic time chamber. So most likely he would just die.

Since Buu had to slightly strain himself to get out of the time chamber, that could mean that goku at his max could be about where super buu is while slightly suppressed
also seeing that goku can keep up with piccolo as a super Saiyan 1 means that he is likely at a post mecha frieza level at super Saiyan 1 alone (note piccolo does not have nail or the training that he would so he is not as strong as he would be) so we can ascertain that goku is atleast at the power of two mecha friezas combined, or at max probably fat buu
@@SealStealer. i'd put him at perfect cell levels maybe a bit weaker than teen SSJ2 gohan you can probably make an argument where he is as strong as cell saga mastered SSJ goku

Making Goku go SSJ was entirely unecessesary. But making him into an untrusting loner was a fitting ending. He lived alone for a very long time, made friends, then got betrayed and made to stay alone for 30 years. Then asked for help all of a sudden... Yeah he's definitenly going to be unhapp with that. Probably gonna have a fear of closed doors for the rest of his life too. He'd be a super strong Yajirobe. But, in that sense, i think he might still come around the help the cast if they need it. But that all depends on Raditz. Goku being this strong, traveling and surviving off the land, fighting masters wherever he can, just enjoying life and never trusting people... He'd be strong enough to beat Raditz without a doubt. But would he be willing to trust his brother? Or is that still asking too much of him? Would he be up for joining Raditz and letting him take the planet for Freiza.
A goku thta joins Raditz, tells them about teh dragonballs, and ends up on a mission to Namek with the other saiyans would be amazing. Especially since Goku would be seeing so many Kamis, I think his good heart would be challenged here. Would he care if the Namekians died? Maybe he'd enjoy it. Truly this would be the worst situation for his wavering moral, in leading him to a darker path.
If Vegeta talks about a plan to betray Frieza, I think that word along might upset Goku, but once he knows what Frieza did, I think he'd go along with the plan. Vegeta would become immortal, and with 2 more wishes, Goku could become immortal, and then Nappa and Raditz would begin to fight over the last wish. Goku would be confused, counting on his fingers. Oh right, 4 saiyans, 3 wishes. Nappa overpowers Raditz and is about to make his wish, when Vegeta kills him. Stating his dislike for Nappa, he lets Raditz take the last wish. Mostly because he wants to keep Goku happy. Goku being the only other saiyan he'd respect.
See this is the ACTUALLY interesting part of this what-if. Goku, Vegeta, and Raditz as immortals. Goku probably taught those two some tricks as well from his time on Earth, and then comes an angry Frieza. It would be quite an impressive battle, that would lead to Frieza going to his final form and then wiping the floor with the saiyans. Realising he cant kill them this way through, stranding them in space will do. So he aims to blow up the planet. Frieza taunts them at being stuck floating in an endless void, whilst shooting beams into Raditz.
Goku, feeling hopeless, but more than that, feeling scared of a fate that would put him back into a black version of that white room. And now that he's immortal, the suffering would never ever end. His dispair would evelop him and turn into a golden glow. THIS is when he'd go SSJ. Yes his base form is already stronger than it was in the canon, and arriving on Namek a year early is not going to do anything to weaken him, but I do think that without Kaioken, Goku would still need to go SSJ to beat frieza. So he kills the tyrant and then the 3 saiyans flee the planet. Exploding behind them and destroying what is left of Frieza's body.
Vegeta eager to remind everyone that he is of royal blood, wants to kill King Cold and take his throne. So teh ship flies to Cold's place, Frieza's few remaining forces now loyal to Vegeta. Goku would spend his time trying to control his new form and help the other two achieve it.
Given how little time they have, and their weaker power levels, I think Goku would still be the only SSJ by the time they fight Cold (and cooler?) and Vegeta becomes Prince of the universe.
After this, Goku asks him to free the planets Frieza conquered. After arguing, I think he'd get him to agree to free Earth, for it to no longer be on sale and so on. Instead offering for Earthlings to become part of their space forces. Afterall, the worst ones were the Namekians, not the humans. The Earth should not pay for what Kami did.
This leaves Dr Gero alive, who just might sign up to the Vegeta Forces and gather far more data that he could imagine. This would result in androids that might not even have human bases. Instead being augmented aliens. Or, maybe he recruits the Z warriors to use, telling them he can help them beat Vegeta and stop his reign over the universe. Cell would be an especially scary creature in this timeline.
I also wonder if Bulma would make her way to top scientist so she can visit Goku and try to reason with him. And then yell at Vegeta for being a dick. Which just might still result in a romance. I see no chance of Goku getting together with ChiChi in this timeline.
The android saga, future Trunks, Cell, it woul all be too different to continue talking about here. It would be wild though. This premise has way too much potential.

go search "Goku Traicionado(Betrayed in Spanish) on Goggle some stories will show up even tho most are post Tournament of Power.
I´m surprise by how native english speakers seem never to have heard about of these stories, because in the spanish comunnity, the goku betrayed are so, SO overexploited. If you can undertand spanish, i don´t recommend that watch these What If, because many times they contradicted the original history, and example, Gokú can´t escape of the hypervolic time chamber, even thought him is more stronger than Super Gotenks 3.

Eh never really was a fan of whole X person betrayed said person/main character what ifs, but It was interesting hearing your take on this idea. Although I wonder what the humans will do now. 🤔 I highly doubt Goku will trust Raditz here, because what Kami did. Anyways interesting take on this what if idea, and looking forward to your next video soon.
Def ready for part 2
While I've never seen one of the other takes on the scenario, this one felt terrific? I wouldn't say it was perfect, with the leap to violence on the others' part and toying around just a little too unnatural at their respective times, details like his smirking and looking for the dragonball were chillingly genuine. The credits stated he was unrefined - a little odd based on his previous skillset, but with all that time he has to have some sort of weakness, this indeed being a good one.
P.S. Piccolo fusing with Kami is interesting - he shouldn't be as powerful as in Z without training/Nail, but the event was also somehow the perfect way to create a challenge!
I like this kind of outlandish style but still somewhat sensible unlike some others.
I hope we get to see a part 2.

This is a very creative concept. Despite Goku not being completely evil I think this is the best evil Goku/Kakorot what if I've ever seen in a what if. The short 8 minute story made me go through a range of emotions and thoughts but, that ending got me super hype! If you are making more parts I can NOT wait for it and see where the story goes frokm here.

That being said , I think the only flaw in this what if is a little lack of communication between the characters. Goku doesn’t tell his friends what happened to him and piccolo with kami in him didn’t explain why he sealed Goku away . I think if they talked the story would change a little bit atleast

I actually came back to watch this because the story’s idea is way better. I dislike all the concepts where a characters turns evil just like that, only exception being db after. This feels like a better, more gradual transformation for Goku, while keeping the original story intact.
I like the concept and story but Goku going SS2 against piccolo is too soon for the rest of the story to be competitive. At this point he should just wait for the androids or cell to show up and by then he'll be SS3 at least
For a sec, I thought Goku doesn't have a tail. Then I remembered that Kami didnt erase Goku's tail permanently, so yeah, he going monke mode in cell saga.
The only character in the dbz story that can compete with goku is cell and that depends on he the author does him. Going by that time chamber feat, goku is at least super buu level at the end of og dragon ball. By the time buu comes goku will far outclassed him.

SmugStick, I absolutely love how far out this What If is! All the other What Ifs are always decently simple changes that cause big consequences, but this just screams "Go big or go home!" lol

Or if Trunks came back in time and saw the absolute chaos that the timeline was going through.

Going by that time chamber feat, goku has to be super buu level. That would mean the only villain from the z series that can potentially give goku problems is cell, and that also depends on how you do him. The saiyans, frieza, androids won't be a problem. If he keeps training he will be stronger then buu by the time he comes.

I've loved this What If, as I've seen other what if goku was betrayed what if, but doesn't have that same energy you give. I was always wanting to see a What if of Goku being betrayed in someway. I would like to see a next part and future what if goku was betrayed in other ways in the future such as what if his friends and family betrayed him maybe because of all the villains coming because of him or something, who knows. But even if that doesn't happen, I would love to see more things like this. Keep up the good work SmugStick!

Glad to see a part 2 is coming. This Goku seems like his pure hearted persona was corrupted into what could have been Kakarott without brain damage. I wonder if he’ll remain a lone wolf and live for himself or if he’ll bond more with his brother and identify himself as a Saiyan.
I don’t think Vegeta would tolerate him due to his power. It would be interesting if Vegeta challenged Goku for the position of leader among their group and lost so that Goku becomes unwillingly the leader. Vegeta would then try to regain his position as royalty. This could be an interesting dynamic.
Once Frieza is dead, maybe Goku would decide to use Earth to rebuild the Saiyan race (I’m sure Nappa and Raditz would want that so Goku would go along with it) that or bringing back planet Vegeta
