    Wow. She really did a whole interview with her “bad” side facing the audience lol
    The camera mostly only showed the “good” side so I guess she was happy lol

    This is was a very in-depth and organised interview about her life, probably one of the best interviews. Its unfortunate german TV, does it like this. Luckily, i understand German but for those lambs who dont:
    Here is a little summary.
    - She talked about her childhood , many of the things already mentioned in the book. The racism they faced as mixed race family in Long Island, moving 13 times across NY etc.
    - But there was a new facts about her father for me. She talked about having one week vacation with her father. And that he had little more money, was more organised and had a more stable life than her mother.
    She also said that she and her father rekindled their relationship and got closer just 2 years prior to him passing away. And he told her, that he had saved all her drawings she did as kid and a lot of pictures of her she had not seen before. She is very glad they got chance to get closer again. She said she appreciates life more now and doesn't think life is all about glamour and Hollywood.
    - She mentioned how she met Tommy at that party. And then the interviewer asked, how the marriage was and being his wife. She said marriage was not her dream, but that they were already dating for a while, and that she only married him because he wanted and she thought she would been become more free to do what she wants as a his wife, like hang out friends and dress how she wanted. But instead she ended up far away from NYC in a farm with old people and cows. That was not what she wanted but Tommy was great business partner also and someone she could share the intricacies of music and that he inspired her musically and that he was a funny and cool guy too. He would giver her idea to write music and she would do it. They had many great talks when it came to that. She said Tommy gave her the stability she missed in her childhood but that like a child he was too strict.But she wanted to be with her friends to and be free. She said Tommy had too much control over her and therefor she was also very afraid when she left him. She wanted to keep things friendly but it was hard to be friends when someone is hurt.
    - Then she talked about how the press made it seem like she changed in all kinda ways once she left Tommy. But after Tommy came the real Mariah, she could finally dress how she wanted, meet her friends New York City and do Hip hop music. She is said Im not the girl that lives in a remote Upstate NY with cows. I have cousins in South Bronx and Queens, i listen to hip hop. Ballads are cool, but i grew up with hip hop and that was always me. She said , i am not going to pretend someone I am not. She said i am multicultural.
    - Breakdown 2001. They talked about how she was sleep deprived and exhausted and that when she went to her mother to escape , she didn't expect her mother would call 911 on her. She said usually when visit my mom i would come with a lot of gifts gives Mercedes or a new pool. But that that she was vulnerable that time and instead of the being the care giver she was to her mom, and that may have caused her mother to call 911. She said she only needed to rest and someone to care of her. She said she was not used to one taking care of that she didn't pay.
    At the end , the interviewer wishes her good luck with her future endeavours but also Mariah the person.

    • @johnp5836
      @johnp5836 Před 5 lety +1

      Ralph R. No they haven’t. That’s why I rarely watch German TV. I mean there a few shows that have subtitles or the host just translates back but mostly the translation lady dubs over especially since the channel this show is on is mostly for older people.
      But the other thing that this is so distracting is i noticed that Mariah is sitting on her „bad“ side but gladly Mariah knows how to sit so her good side still shows.... 😂

      I think this was send out live so using a translator was probably much easier than typing all that at the same time for live tv, i feel you though.

      What he was saying was “That wasn’t the only contract your signed with the Studio Head (Tommy Matola)”. The host is referring to her signing a record deal with Tommy but also a marriage deal. Thats why the people were clapping.
