Fighting Tikilen with EN Only Things! - Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent

- I wanted to see what was possible for the English version if Tikilen was released now, and so I used characters and gear that's only available in the English version! At least I think... I'm not sure if the accessories I used are in the English version, I just know that they're mostly unimpactful and not super important, so... Although, with how long I've been playing my characters are all high levels and stuff, which English version players probably won't have, so it's not a perfect representation, but regardless, this shows that even in the English version, no 5 stars are needed to beat Tikilen! One thing I'd like to say if for 4 stars awake 3 is gonna be very important for keeping them alive if you can manage that.

Oh yeah use whatever's at your disposal. And prepping is a nice way to spend your time waiting. Of course the teams I used aren't like the best team ideas you can make. I actually forgot about Therese when making the 5 star team. 😅 Good luck with the fight, regardless! :)

Yeahh I don't think everyone is gonna have level 74 awake 3 4 stars. 😅 But that shouldn't discourage you. You'll definitely be able to beat it given enough effort is put in. :)
I'll definitely gonna try this comp. Will switch several of these with 5* that i have obviously. May i ask why did you not use Mabel instead of Laura for Thunder dealer instead?
I just made a team I thought would work. My team isn't the best team you can possibly make, so don't be afraid to do what you wanna do in your team. You've got unlimited tries and no losing penalty after all. 👀

WONDERFUL. I actually built my camille and luceta for tikilen. as high as I can. and since I have scarecrow and viola, tikilen "should be" winnable. I really can't wait for this challenge. I don't have theo though, but my menno should be good enough. thanks again for the insight video
Viola will definitely help a lot with keeping Tikilen's damage low, but if you're still struggling with damage after that, I'd also use Kurtz's anti-attack. With both of them having applied it at least once without the turn count running out, it'll be 30% attack down instead of 20%. 👀
@@Advancer64 Will look after tikilen come out. my initial team will be gilderoy (ramona), viola (ashlan), scarecrow (menno), camille (mabel). I don't know whether I should change ashlan to lucetta but we will see later when tikilen come out
I wanna say here real quick that I didn't actually make sure what accessories were in the English version, just that the ones I used I knew weren't impactful enough to matter just in case they weren't in the English version. Hopefully you don't mind that! And one thing I forgot to mention is off weakness hits in tourneys have very reduced damage! It's better to bring a weakness hitting 4 star over a high strength 5 star for tourneys.
Edit: Literally just occurred to me BT weapons are better, obviously. I just completely forgot they were a thing. So uhh yeah that's even better.
Thanks for the advice. I was considering using Fiore, since she is currently my strongest nuker, but I guess I will exchange her for a 4☆ hunter instead. Im hesitant between Luceta, Camila or Bertrand (Ashlan is already in my line up)
@@solaragpc4172 Camilla and Lucetta are both good choices, although about Bertrand I can't quite remember his skills so I'm not sure about him.
@@Advancer64 He has 3 hit bow random target, 1 hit lightning AoE with 10% lightning def down and Wind resistence as his passive. Which out of the 3 do you consider the best choice?
@@solaragpc4172 I just checked, it's actually 20%. He's gonna be super nice paired with Therese to cap 30% thunder resistance down, and then still be good at breaking Tikilen. I'll highly suggest any of them, but Bertrand definitely if you have Therese.

The only units I don't have are Asumi and Scarecrow! Who should I use instead to replace them?
Probably swap Kurtz for Scarecrow (more archers and the best one for this fight) and Ramona for Hasumi (both are burst healer, and Hasumi can also Light)
@@ronnymahendra9035 you will need kurtz to debuff the boss unless you got viola.
Do you have other 5 stars than what I showed? Therese and Heathcote would be really great for their aoe multi-hit elemental attacks. And my team also isn't like the best team you can make. It was one I just made because I thought it would go well. You can use whoever you think works well, but I do suggest fitting Ashlan in somewhere for the guaranteed crit skill.

Gildroy (+3), ramona (+3)
Millard (+2) and primrose (only 4.5)

@@sakurasonics19 millard and ramona sounds overkill, Millard should be able to handle healing well. You'd want more archer (Ashlan/Lucetta/Camilla depending on who you have) to quickly break the "only crit" phase
From reviewing this video and the turn orders I saw, I determined that Tikilen has a speed stat between 294 and 361, and her adds have speed stats between 220 and 251. It would be nice to know if exact values are available somewhere. Planning your exact turn order out will be a big help. Keep in mind that her adds go first when they counter and last after they charge.
My Kurtz and Viola have speed stats of 298 and 307 respectively without accessories. I definitely want them faster than her in order to cast Anti-Attack before attacks and to initiate breaks, but I can't tell yet if that's possible. I suspect her speed is either 300 or 350 just because they probably programmed nice numbers.
EDIT: Comparing with other videos of the fight, I found her speed is between 294 and 312, so probably it's 300.
Tikilen's HP is 297350 and both enemies are 181430 each. The speed stats are 295 and 238. 👀

Hi I'm currently playing the SEA version. May I know what's the ideal use of silver Guidestones for 4* like do I awaken them first before increasing their level cap?
I am really close to your 5* team, although I did not get lucky with Hasumi. But I only threw 2 10 pulls at it to see if am lucky. So I am planning to not use Prim and run Ashlan and Lucetta instead. Hoping Ashlan can help with the crit phase and Lucetta has his 3 hit bow skill. EDIT: my viola is 4.5 also so she will not have the aoe shield crack skill but should still fill the debuff role well.

The fight was actually quite tough in the Japanese version when characters n accessories were limited plus awakening was not available.
It was. Took me a lot of tries, but I've learned knowing exactly what's coming and how you have to deal with Tikilen's attacks helps a lot compared to when I first fought her.
Will a 4.5 star Milland be as effective as a 5 star for this fight? I have a golden seal to upgrade him, but I would rather save it for a possible other unit.
He should be fine, yes. You'll just have to accommodate for his low health. He'll still do good healing and damage, so. Definitely save that cleric seal.

What are the recommended party levels for this piece of content? I know you went in with level broken 4* and also level 100 5* but where would the minimum be for a mix of 4 and 5
Sorry if I'm wrong, around level 90-100 (Clearable), 80-90 (Need to think), lower 80 (Need big brain),
I'd say at least level 75 characters. The characters you bring will be more important, though.
@@Advancer64 currently I have 5 star Viola, Theo, Sophia, Millard, 4.5 star Tressa and Gilderoy. I have access to pretty much all 4 stars but am unsure who to focus on building up at the moment, who would you suggest for my final team during this challenge?

To pull off a full 4 star team? Awake 3 is much more important if you ask me, but around 70 is good.
What are the names of the characters in the team? I recognize the sprites but not the kanji names.

5 star team:

Just completed her exclusive. On average of 32 turns 😅
looks like for f2p gonna need to grind out awakenings for all 4*, the hp aint gonna cut it
4 stars definitely struggle with HP before awake 3. But for free to plays in general, it depends how much you're saving. Saving is definitely a good idea to make sure you're guaranteed the characters you pull for, but then you don't do any pulls until you're done saving. You're stuck with a select few 4 and 5 star characters. Makes it a lot harder to do higher level content until something comes out you wanna pull on.
The team I've got planned to try for this (with their current levels) is the following:
Viola (64) / Kurtz (66)
Meena (65) / Ashlan (61)
Ramona (62) / Bertrand (62)
Gilderoy (79) / Lynette (80)
No awakenings on any of these characters. Funny thing about my account: I don't have any 4 or 5 star apothecaries and no access to regen at all on 4 or 5 star characters. Instead, I'm going to try to use my double Anti-attack access and Meena+Ramona's defensive buffs to tank with Gilderoy. Basically all of my characters only have 1900 HP (Gilderoy has 3000), so any AoE followed by a single target dark will kill someone if I don't heal between them or set up Gilderoy to tank.
I have the first 3-5 turns roughly mapped out where no one should die, I break the first add before the offensive buff takes effect, and I get my tanking set-up online. Blind may ruin this however if it causes me to fail to break in time and the offense boost just makes her next AoE turn wipe my whole front row. It should be easier after that though, but it's hard to guess how much damage I'll be taking with lower levels and no awakenings.
Trial and error will get you to where you need to be. 👀 I feel like you'll be able to do it.

Remember. You can always impress the Tottering Old Man for a 4x Bow AoE to help break Mercs up to twice total.
There's also NPC for 2x AoE light and 3x ST shield crack.
You can't actually bring NPCs to tourney fights, unless they change it.
gonna be a long time for low spenders/f2p to beat this considering the current pace and roster. great fight nonetheless.

Ah Tikilen, not hard, better than against the one who need crit so it can deal damage, at that time only bring H'aanit,
i never like content like that in the game where you need specific character and specific tactics for some content its way too hardcore and boring fighting that long amount of time with repetitive content to got her to level 100
Well limiting (?) yourself to only use 4* will always need specific character, there are quite some room for improvement by switching either of these with 5* obviously.
Well that just means this type of content isn't for you, although needing to be smart about your team and skills is how the end game in this game is, so. If you wait a while, though, you'll find it a lot easier than when it first came out due to natural gear power creep. And last you don't need to refight them to level them. You can still take them to hunts, it's just there's 2K gold stones for them in their refight exchange anyway if you want to do it that way.
These fights will get easier later when more powerful weapon n armor n ultimate attack are made available. Suggest you wait it out for refight.

How so? Is trying to challenge yourself in a different version if the game wrong? Is limiting yourself to only the most powerful weapons in the ENGLISH VERSION cheating? Please refrain from saying this to people without solid evidence and also justifying it as a joke will do you no good🙂
This makes me appreciate playing without voices even more. JP voice acting is so over exaggerated and annoying.
