  • Come with us as we explore the lovely village of Porlock in Somerset and then have an incredible meal in Porlock Weir.
    We started the day in our lovely cabin in Porlock Weir, Somerset, where we were invited to stay by The Best of Exmoor (*www.thebestofexmoor.co.uk/274... and use the code lozsleisure to get £30 off any holiday cottage stay!). We then headed out on a walk into a rather grey day.
    The weather didn't deter us and we were very happy to find a woodland trail that led us from Porlock Weir to Porlock. It took us about an hour to do the walk that most people would do in half the time because we stopped to take pictures and were in no particular rush.
    When we arrived in Porlock, we found a beautiful gallery in an old phone box and Hannah's eye was caught by some cakes in the window of the Whortleberry Tearoom. First, we decided to have a look around the village, taking in the thatched cottages, local shops and a gallery. The rain started to spit so we decided to head back to the Whortleberry Tearoom to get a drink and a snack.
    With the rain not relenting, we decided to carry on our circular walk and carried on back down the road for a short while. We saw some adorable lambs before turning down a lane to reach Porlock Marsh. For a season back in the early 20th century, the area was used as a golf course (with some pretty impressive views, I imagine!) but the regular flooding put an end to the establishment rather quickly. Since then, nature has been allowed to take over and we spotted some birdlife making the most of it.
    We ended up down in Porlock Weir, where we had a little nose around on the beach and in another shop, before calling it quits and heading back to our cabin for a few hours.
    After some chill time watching the birds and relaxing, it was time for us to head back into Porlock Weir to a fantastic restaurant (and boutique hotel) called Locanda on the Weir. Here we had a phenomenal, ridiculously tasty 5-course meal that we thoroughly enjoyed.

    What a fabulous time you had. The scenic walk into Porlock looked great. I loved seeing those lambs frolicking in the field. The flapjack looked scrumptious & the evening meal divine. Such a picturesque part of England I’m looking forward to going there again sometime soon not been there for ages. Great vlog. Thank you .

    You guys make a very cozy content) Like it! Me and my wife are addicted to interesting dishes and such sets! It's so interesting and impressive to find something new in taste :) But it's always a good idea to create custom subtitles for every video. And remove that autogenerated stuff. At least it would help to shop up your videos in search, but there is more - non native viewers (like me) could read some parts, or even auto translated captions from hand written original will look much much better :)

    • @LozsLeisure
      @LozsLeisure  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Ahhh thank you! 😁 That was such an awesome experience for us - and not something we've really done together before so very special 😊 I actually just created custom subtitles on your recommendation - you will have to let me know if they seem better to you now. Thanks for the tip!

    • @MakarovSoftware
      @MakarovSoftware Před 9 měsíci

      @@LozsLeisureyes, much better now) From my experience it's easier to type all captions from video (before uploading) to a notepad and then just copy to CZcams, it will automatically adjust it to video timings (but of course you'll need to check and tune it) :) Cuz changing auto generated captions is Hell 😄😄

    • @LozsLeisure
      @LozsLeisure  Před 9 měsíci

      @@MakarovSoftware hahaha yes it took a little while and some of the things it came up with I was like "what the..." 😂 although it was generally quite accurate - pretty impressive really!

    LOZ! Hope all is well. Question for you, if someone only had 3 days total to explore the UK, where would you tell them to visit (assuming they've already done the "London thing")?

    • @LozsLeisure
      @LozsLeisure  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Heyyyy Katie! All good thank you - hope you're well!
      I think with only three days it's kinda hard to go to some of the more rural places so you could be better off visiting some of the towns or cities. With a bit longer I'd def recommend the Lake District (still very possible if arriving to Manchester Airport for the equivalent of a long weekend there I guess!), Cornwall or possibly the Scottish Highlands (I haven't been but it's on my list!)
      So with that in mind I'd consider:
      - Bath (loads of history and named after its Roman baths, super pretty and a great afternoon tea)
      - Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare's birthplace, lots of pretty gardens and thatched houses to visit and lovely walks / boat rides on the river - not to mention the theatre!)
      - Cambridge (I was here for a few hours yesterday and always forget just how magical it is - a university town with loads of history and a Harry Potter feel to it; we ate dinner in the pub where the discovery of DNA was announced!)
      How do they sound?!
