Welcome to Chasing Latitudes! Have you ever imagined the smell of the ocean air as your boat crashes through the waves? The freedom that comes from casting off the bow lines and heading out to sea to explore new places you can’t reach by car or airplane? Then this channel is for you.
You will not see white sand beaches here, restaurant reviews, beach parties, selfies or Japanese knives. What you will find is factual information based on decades of sailing experience.
My channel is specifically meant for one thing and one thing only, to help YOU find your new to you fancy-dancy yacht of your dreams and get on the water in the fastest, most time efficient manner.
Don’t get caught up in looking at old boats! I focus on mostly newer vessels, built in 2000 or later because I want you to spend as much of your time as possible sailing, not practicing your restoration skills on an old boat attempting to bring it to its former glory.
You want to take advantage of the amazing newer technology and modern hull designs when it comes to sailing. This is going to make your vessel far easier to sail solol or short handed and make them far more comfortable and efficient to live aboard full time or even just weekenders without buying more boat than you need.
I offer a wide variety of services including consulting where I will take you through the entire process of how to budget properly, choosing what vessel size will work for your needs, what type of vessel, I will help you shop for vessels, determine offer prices, schedule surveys, talk with brokers, teach you how to do your own pre-survey, walk you through hiring the correct surveyor and help you avoid all of the common pitfalls that you will find when purchasing used sailing vessels.
The consulting does not stop there, I will be with you every step of the way and long after you have purchased your vessel as consulting also comes with lifetime access to the members area,.
Chasing Latitudes hosts a large, active private members area where the members are more than happy to offer their own experience to solve problems, host private videos for ASA Sailing quizzes (ASA 101, 103, & 104), and live stream videos which feature anything from member cruising to boat shopping, boat comparisons, and other live content with chat from the subscribers to my CZcams channel and channel members.
It’s time for YOU to get on the water. Come aboard! - Zábava
Channel has the best content! Chris has Tourette’s
🤣🤣 fair assessment
Its great. Just raining truth bombs.
"My pullout game is not strong and I bet yours isn't either". Next boat I buy I'm hiring this guy for the commentary alone. I'd love to see his review on my current dumpster of a boat XD
Thanks, Chris!! This video was Heaven-sent for me!! I actually wanted the Pearson 530 in Georgia because it seemed to best fit my likes. I had already rejected the one in Gloucester because it was a sloop rig, but designed to be a ketch. This review opened my mind to consider them and I quickly went to see the Cyclades 51.5 that you recommended. I now have a contract on it. THANKS!!
It's a nice boat
Congrats @chesapeakeMoon ! Did you end up buying it?
Wow, another fantastic video exploring the world of sailboats! It's great to see you exploring the 50 footers and giving us a closer look at what's out there. Keep up the amazing work, your channel has the best content!
Welcome back and I
hope you have a great year.
The honesty that sears through your commentary is a rare thing these days.
As is the frustration at our internet viewer distorted world. There is so little credit given to depth of experience especially if a cute backside is the main feature of the production values.
these comments are my conclusion after 2 years watching the spectrum of sailing youtubes and after 6 months listening to your ideas.
It took one day being crew and now I am very happy dinghy sailing!
Maybe a boat will happen but I want to be doing that with the fundamentals addressed.
Your advice is probably more valuable than you imagine and at the moment is often free- I am so glad that is so.
We've been watching for a while now and love the content. Now we are looking for our next boat, this one we are looking at 50+. Funny how you skipped the only two we were considering (Moody 54 and Beneteau 50 in Boston). I get the extra space, but hate the charter style four cabin layout with the galley center salon. I'll be hitting Chris up as my buyer, we were about to jump! Cheers!
I think I need to stay under 40 foot and still be able to single hand sail. I love to get to compare what is out there thanks to your videos and comments. Can't wait to meet up with you guys somewhere down in the islands, and go sailing! I'm working on it now!
You can do it!
Ill see you there!
A 52 foot Lagoon can be singlehanded but it is a handful.
@@geoffstrebel2808Do u mean that only a handful of people can single hand a 50+ feet sailboat?
@@MrMediterrano I mean that anyone with the will to single hand a Lagoon 52 can do so with a bit of practice.
Another great video. I absolutely love your delivery style...sense of humor...straight talk.
I'm not in the market for a monohull...i just came here for the roasting. Thanks, you delivered. Cheers 🎉!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am not in the market at all, but this is the best comedy
I spent three weeks trying to get a hold of the broker for that beneteau 51.5 Latitudes. Had a surveyor booked but when I stopped getting emails and couldn’t get a return call I cancelled everything. Figured they didn’t want to sell it.
The brokers were away on vacation in S. Africa. Are you still interested in it?
I made an offer on another and it was accepted.
Nice browse through on the 50's! Just a quick note, that 1984 Morgan Offshore 50 @ 24:02 had a note of "standing rigging reported new 2017" in the sail section. Given that it's a fiberglass hull, at that price, could be worth the haul-out for a professional CVI/survey.
Did you notice they're taking bitcoin/crypto currencies as well? Guessing this was a passion project before the market took a turn, and now just trying to recoup on the investment.
Good catch
Not only comical but very informative as well! Following with interest.
Always good to watch your videos a different focus and wider view thank you.
Thanks 👍
Ima sign up end of the month. Fingers crossed. Love from the uk
24:02 Standing rigging reported new in 2017...👀 Hi Chris, Happy New Year...!!!!
You da best )
Ladies and gents that was 24 shots now we're really rocking. Love it, Cheers
I really enjoyed your post today, you really get down to the Nitty-gritty of sailing. I actually learned a few things from your video today. And I am 75-year-old Old salt it’s been around a few sale boats, good job very Enjoyable.
Bwahahahahaha....myou have the design sense of Elayna. Jeez dude, couldn't agree more!!! 😂😂😂
The U tube gods hate me love your videos but Omg!! it was a 30 second commercial every 2 minutes. Thanks for the giggle trashing lady K even though I watch him regularly, hoping to upgrade my sieldelman 30 to something a little bigger. Keep up the good work.
How tall are you? Would love to see a list of good boats for taller people.
Chris
We can hear your inner voice about
Lady K
😂😅🤣
But I love japanese cooking knives
❤❤❤❤
I love how entertaining you are. It makes this vid and shopping experience so much more fun. Hahahahahaha.
Overall still very informative. 💪🙏
Love the drone shot of Dana Point harbor near the end of
Love your channel. Would love to see you look at newer boats 45-60’.
Coming soon!
Hey Chris, I just came across a you tube sailing channel I hadn’t seen before called sailing Tela Ru, sailing in Italy “off season” I was wondering have you ever sailed the Najad besides being a little pricey over the year 2000 what do you think of them if you have sailed them?
That Morgan offshore 50.... they did mention the standing rigging was reported new in 2017. Great videos man!
24:02
Thank you
Now that we know that Europe has entered a recession and the US is next, how far do you think these prices will fall this year?
30% or so
59:03 Man, They're Cruisin...!!!! Look at that Wake...!!!
Lady k is all about cheap.... He said he got his boat for less than $5k and powers it with golf Cart batteries... We love him because he drinks cold Budweiser from a champagne glass, in the Bahamas & he's a Canuk... Which explains a lot
He's done one small passage in the Bahamas years ago, I'd put 10k in an escrow account to debate him regarding anything related to sailing , if I don't expose him on the debate live for the raging fraud he is in the world of sailing he keeps the ten k, when I do expose the face live that he has zero clue I get ten k from him. When he decides to accept let me know
Great video Chris, good luck with the resolutions.....
Question. Have you ever shown up at a boat, ready to take it on a sail to a new owner, and said "Oh hell no!"...?
Yes
I wish we had heads up on your live shows.

@@ChasingLatitudes Computer isn't always on. I bet you'd have many more watching if you had a certain time you did them while you're home.
I was very offended by all of the comments about Elayna's designer skills! Just kidding... Had me laughing out loud.😂
That interior on that boat is a monster
@@ChasingLatitudes C’mon, that Rapido would’ve cost them close to $3m Aussie... and they still have the Outremer, one of their mates is hiring it out in the Whitsundays.
Check your blood sugar you’re being mean again!
You’re a smart guy with a ton of good information and I really enjoy it when you stick to the fax!
I wish you well, my friend be nice!

how about if the sale number is like 20k
This was what I was looking for last time I commented! You are awesome and the jokes keep me interested all the way through! What do you think about the Amel Super Maramu 16m (51feet)? It is on sale on Boat 24 for €220 000 - $235 000
Would you think it is worth it?
Cheers!
HA! at 31:00 "You just showed me 15 picture of the cockpit [Stimpy] you idiot."
I really enjoy when you dish other CZcams sailing channels. I am tired of green drink and Japanese knife, and call in therapy ads. Maybe I will buy a shit yellow canary trimaran. Great and informative videos on buying used sail boats. Thank you.
True. All boats to much old, to much expensive to maintain, all prices double to much..but certain style, boat builder could be better than new one..🖐😃⛵️🇨🇭
New Year, New Me, trying to be nice hahahaha
Lol didn't last long did it
I spent the last two months traveling around Florida in my motorhome looking for a sailboat. I’ve had one heckuva, great adventure, not buying a boat.
Another great video. You never fail to make me laugh. 😂👍
What's your ideal boat personally? What sailboat would you buy for travelling if money were not an issue?
moody 45 ds
Chris, I'm in the process of selling my home and all my belonging to move aboard. I am already settled on a Lagoon with a flybridge in the 44-52 range. Would you please do a video and share your thought on multihulls of that class? I'm going to be working while living aboard since I owe alimony so I might as well finance a bit of the boat too and get a bigger or better equipped boat. Watermaker, bow sprit/code 0, hard top bimini, underwater lights, folding/feathering props, extra refrigeration, radar, and a washing machine all score big points with me but hull length=speed and that's great too. Also, I've got 3 kids who will be with me 1/2 time so rooms for them are needed too. Can't wait to hear your opinion!
Name names! I'm here for the beef.
Dude you are in your element when destroying poor aspects or your bias of aspects of boats.
😂😂 some of the things that I say I don't even remember them I watch my own video and I just think wow that guy is over the top
the shade thrown on sailing channels crack me up
🎤 Drop
In what region are you located, sir?
Just curious, if you don't mind.
Caribbean
Of course 😁
What boat is this @ 33:21?

@@ChasingLatitudesloving these videos. I need someone to tell me I’m wrong when I look at yacht world 😂😂😂
@@Squareuno 😂 that's why I have consulting
I just put down a payment for a 50ft old boat :)
I've been boating for over 40 years, one thing I have learned is that in every marina, on every dock, there is a guy who knows everything about everything, and he will tell you so. Chris is that guy, he has some good knowledge and kudos to him, he has learned to monetize his wayward opinions. What a class A jerk, criticizing everybody, their boats and their choices in life. Buying a boat is like buying anything else of significant value. You buy what appeals to you, what you want and like. Maybe you don't get the best deal but it is what you make of it. I bought a 54" Formosa, needed lots of work. Probably paid more than I should have, put more money into it that I planned, but it was all a labor of love and now, I have the best boat in the marina. I know it inside out and It's beautiful and roomy, not a racing boat but it moves well enough for us. Chris can take his opinions and shove em where the sun don't shine. Wouldn't waste a dime listening to this guy. And I will fulfill his prophesy...he's an idiot. Want to learn about cruising sail boats, read Lin and Larry (R.I.P) Pardy's books. They know what they speak of.
🤣🤣a Formosa 54, the nicest boat in the marina 😂😂🤡 sure buddy , you're not fooling anyone, the second your mentioned that boat followed by the infamous lin and let's all live like we're homeless you lost us
Not trying to get truth from the words that offend you is why you'll always be ignorant. Chris gives his knowledgeable perspective on what's available on the market. If you watched more of his videos, you'd learn to appreciate his perspective and take it into account when you decide what's right for you. He doesn't sugarcoat anything for the weak-minded. If you don't like it, just stop watching without mooning everyone in the comments.
Chris is just a bit sarchastic. I’m guessing he’s from the NY area. Everyone has their preferences and is free to express them however they wish. Think of him as the Don Rickles of sailboats.😁
⛵️
Poor Elayna. 😂
😃👍👏👏👏
lol sailing las vegasbone
Brokers aren't licensed boat surveyors. Their opinion on standing rigging is meaningless. They aren't experienced or licensed diesel mechanics. Again, the broker's opinion is meaningless. Speaking on things they aren't licensed to speak on is a real good way to get sued. They mentioned the new sails because they have a receipt to prove it.
Although I love the 50+ footers, you always run into the same issues. No space for such a big boat in a marina. All jobs on those tankers take way more time and are way much expensive. So less money and time doing the sailing. Often they not rigged for solo sailing. So thanks but no thanks.
SLVB..style 🤢 ..😂😂😂
