@@ripitup32 It's a special dash cam that collects footage that the stewards/race control use to review crashes and other incidents the car is involved in.
Like the main comment said, it's built pretty tough, so the fact it got destroyed just speaks to how violent that crash was.
That Newcastle street track is cool. Nice to be able to see the buildings close to the track and not just endless walls of concrete

They made one in like 2003 for pc a car racing game dont remember how much depth it has to it. But i remmeber it had the whole practice, qualifying, top 10 shootout, and the actual race. Pretty good even if i only played it to crash into the other cars

Every time I here "Bargwhana" Its usually followed by a big crash, so much so I thought it was Aussie slang for writing of a v8

6:16 this is a prime example why having drivers unfamiliar with these types of cars starting a race wasn't the brightest idea.
I mean I'm glad everyone got away unhurt, but that was several damaged cars that could've been avoided had the full time series drivers start and have the international drivers drive after a pit stop.
Also the worst possible track for it too, that front straight with drivers foreign to these cars is just asking for trouble

I realize that crashes are dangerous and expensive but god daym there friggin awesome to watch, as long as everyone is ok that is, I mean if you went back in time and told one of those old timers in the first racing era what a car would be able to do, like they can today, well, they would not believe you. It just goes to show what fooling around can accomplish.
I personally find it boring if an entire race happens without at least some sort of crash in it. I remember one Bathurst 100, forgot what year it was, where the first SC didn't happen until the halfway point.

those roll cages really are something. Ones absolutely unlikely to survive that type of crash on a regular vehicle.
