    I went to visit from Australia (a few years ago)after seeing Mads Peter Iverson's Photography and You- tubes. It was absolutely amazing and there was only one farmer who wanted a fee for walking on his land. I can see how this fragile topsoil got disturbed by constant human traffic. I think we went before it became really popular. Would love to return to this amazing and atmospheric place. Thank you for this documentary. Always enjoying learning anything new about the Faroes.

OK, they left a lot of money, but they also took from us our daily life. Example, Belém Pastéis, the most famous cakes in Lisbon: impossible for us to go, extensive lines all day long. That's a "spot" full of it but yet you don't wish to be. If you have an other opinion than they have, you will see how quick they change to being "not so nice" Their own "Head Doctor" made an 30 year investigation about Whale meat and it IS full of mercury.. What I do find a bit funny though is the amount of tourists that do not know how at the center of the capital, Steinatún, if you want to cross the road, you will have to press a button to signal that you need to get across, somehow western people do not know what this is and will stand there for minutes until someone taps it.
      This is so common too and happens all the time in summer when we have the most tourists.
      Also about xenophobia, do not think this will be a common occurrence, sure there might be a few racist people here and there like any other country but the vast majority of the people is very welcome to foreigners coming here.
      Where I work for example I would say about half the workplace is foreigners and a majority of them are from either Africa or Asia and from what I've seen they get treated the same as locals.

      If you would check the time of the video was made you would see it wasn't near the time of the current happenings.. I agree, the whole dolphin situation is terrible and I don't agree with what they are doing either, but don't blindly point fingers why these things are missing in this video. It's clearly not the purpose of the video.

    Why such an intense and anxiety-inducing music in the first half of the video though? This place looks like a paradise, don't see any reason to fan the fire and try to blow minor issues out of proportions. Awesome documentary otherwise.

    I would give ANYTHING to raise my children in a place like this. Seriously, I'm not just talking. If someone would give us a start there we would go. About the whaling: according to a Doctor who lives on the island and has been studying the mercury levels of the people who eat the whales for 3 generations. He has been finding significant changes and problems. You can Google the info if you want. I believe the killings of the whales isn't any worse than the way we treat animals in America. Cramming them into slaughter houses. Some animals who never even see a grassy field. But because of the mercury, my kids wouldn't be fed the whales.

    • @gregorykoefer
      @gregorykoefer  Před rokem

      Very valid point about mercury.
      Slaughterhouses are probably worse than what they do. It's just public and seeing blood creates drama. I don't agree with either side - killing animals isn't the solution - but if people would see what's going on in there I am sure they'd think twice if they wanna buy that fancy packed meat in the store..

      @@gregorykoefer Absolutely. Definitely not an easy black and white issue. I'm glad I'm seeing more people willing to take time to put some thought into this instead of jumping to anger and hate. I watched another video about the whale slaughter and there was so much hate on both sides it was painful to read. That won't help anyone.

      Should every video about your country, be it about nature, or a tech product or service in your country, or kids playing in the park of your city, then all include how you have a tradition in your country to enslave innocent highly intelligent pigs and kill them all for money?!
      I mean, that is what you do in your country, and if you think what the islanders do is so disgusting, by all measures, the killing in your country of those innocent pigs is a million times more disgusting. According to your logic EVERY single video about your country, cultrue, parks, kids playing, sports..they should all include the message about how you mistreat animals in your country.
      Great logic
