    I really wanted to see how well it worked.

    I bought the one that comes with the battery & charger. I went back the next day & bought the flashlight attachment. Good on green small shrubs. On older wood branches, a full sized gas trimmer is better.

    would this be good for tree clean up such as crepe myrtles and all the vaulter new growth that show up on their trunks?

    I’ve bought one and been using quite often... I love it. But now it has gotten dull, trying to find a blade replacement and Ryobi web site not that helpful. So looking for instructional videos on how to sharpen them or replacements..... Inspire me someone.

      Google tool sharpening. All you need is some files and a vice

      On my black & decker before I bought this, I used to put some fine valve grinding compound in the teeth and tighten the bolts a little to remove the slack. Oil it up good afterwards. The valve grinding compound actually works better on a full sized hedge trimmer.

      I bought a replacement on Amazon. Heck I might as well purchased a new tool for the price I paid for the replacement part.

    Grass shear jammed. Took apart and tried to realign the knob that inserts into gear. Suppose to turn to activate the blades but won't turn 360. Hedge shears worked great. Grass shears junk.

    Got one of these today but after about 30 minutes it jammed from a little root and I get it to come back apart by unscrewing the quick release knob. The knob comes off but its like it jammed internally. I even took off the 4 small screws holding the bottom plate on but I still can't get it come off. I think the problem is the motor need to turn backwards slightly to unjam the plastic gear where the cutter fits into the socket in the unit. Any ideas? Thanks for posting.

      You are not alone. There are tons of reports about this problem. Personally I think Ryobi has done a very poor job with this device - far too many have experienced huge problems with it. The design is faulty.

      @@robert4you i donr think these are designed to cut branches and stuff. Only soft leaves like grass

      Same thing happened to me but I honestly don't remember how I got the shears off, I think I just pulled them off with force, removing the four screws did not help. Also, that little root I hit damaged the blades so bad that they were more or less ruined.

      I didn't even hit anything, and the blades only operate for 10 seconds before stalling. I got only 2 hours total of use out of these. Great idea, poor product.

    Battery life?

    • @ddpp3492
      @ddpp3492 Před 3 lety

      Good question. My guess is more than 10 mins because it doesn't draw a lot of power

    • @virginia7125

      I trimmed 2 bushes & it still had power. It definitely ran longer than the black & decker 6 volt version.

    5 mins and it was 4 mins too long. Never even showed the headger or the other part even working in the yard. .
