    The ICE car sales are even worse than the EV sales. To conquer the market, electric cars (EVs) only have to be technically superior to the Internal Combustion Engine cars (ICE). It’s clearly the case.
    1. EVs are simpler to make: Tesla, for instance, has reduced the number of pieces for the front part of the vehicle from 70 pieces to only one. (It’s the same thing for the rear part of its vehicles.)
    2. Tesla, BYD and Volvo demonstrated that it was possible to produce profitable EVs; something legacy producers like GM or Toyota are unable to do. It’s because they feared bankruptcy that many companies stopped producing EVs.
    3. The price of EVs is falling rapidly due to the rapidly falling price of their batteries (- 30% in 2023).
    4. No cobalt or nickel are used to produce the most modern EVs.
    5. EVs pollute much less than ICE cars, especially when they move.
    6. EVs are more stable on roads because their heavy batteries are located at the bottom of the car.
    7. EVS protect better their occupants when there is a collision due to the rigidity of their battery packs.
    8. There are fewer than ten (10) moving parts in an EV engine compared to more than a thousand in an ICE car. That reduction in the number of pieces means that less machinery are used to produce them. As a result, producing electric cars creates less pollution.
    9. EVs accelerate more rapidly than ICE cars when their drivers try to overtake other cars.
    10. The brakes on an EV last much longer due to their regenerative braking system.
    11. The dashboard of an EV is much simpler to produce since almost all the controls are on the on-board computer.
    12. There are fewer liquids in an EV (windshield cleaning fluid, battery fluid).
    13. EVs are roomier than ICE cars because their engines are much smaller.
    14. Most technical problems on an EV can be solved ¨over the air¨ without having to go to a dealer.
    15. EVs don’t need to go to the dealer for regular maintenance.
    16. Everybody can buy an EV on the Internet without having to go to a dealer.
    17. Recharging an EV is 80% cheaper than filling the tank of an ICE car.
    18. Nowadays, there are multiple ways to produce electricity. (N.B. In 2023, solar panels are the cheapest way to produce electricity. And they almost never need long transmission lines).
    19. Nowadays, charging stations are everywhere while the number of gas stations is decreasing.
    20. Contrary to ICE cars, EVs can be recharged at home.
    21. EV owners say they have no problem with the autonomy of their vehicle.
    22. If EVs explode from time to time, 200,000 ICE cars explode every year in USA.
    23. Finally, we need to replace ICE cars with EVs for two other reasons. First, because petroleum is becoming scarcer on the planet and, second, because we all need to stop depending on an explosive region like the Middle East for our main source of energy.

    I will consider an EV when these issues are resolved: 1) Range; 2) Recharging time of ~15% to 100% in 10 minutes; 3) The environmental damage of the battery mineral mining process.

      Don't then and wast all your money on gas and maintenance. I for one have 2 EVs now and with my solar and saving over $15K ever year 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑. The transition to EV is happening and you woke ICE cry babies just can't get your heads around the facts.

    It's the fire / thermal runaway thing that broke the deal for me. We have an attached garage and I'm absolutely terrified of burning to death if the car started on fire during the night. They say that it's uncommon, but it only has to happen once. People have already died from EV fires and fate doesn't play favorites.

      I am quite familiar with EVs, but when I showed a few videos of EV fires to a friend of mine he was horrified. He had no idea. There is no way jose he's ever going to buy an EV whilst they've got those infernal Li Ion batteries.

      EV battery fires are extremely rare, approximately 1/20th of the frequency of ICE and Hybrids. So this isn't a thing. Gasoline explodes as well, we've all seen it in movies. KABOOM.

      Yes, and gasoline fires happen more often. That is generally caused by impact damage spilling gasoline over hot metal to cause ignition. The thing that gets me is that EV batteries can self-ignite for no apparent reason, like if a cell " goes bad ". Its happened, I've seen the videos. That means that you won't see it coming, so you can plug your car in at night and go to sleep, blissfully unaware of what's about to happen and meanwhile the " bad " cell starts to smoulder and burn. As a responsible adult, I don't want to be responsible for my death, my wife's death, our pet's death and the destruction of my home ..... and yes, I'm truly and absolutely terrified of dying in a house fire.

      Well sure if you would sh to take 20X the risk feel free. 2 tears ago I followed a woman in a Ford Escape which started to smoke. Then I say flames and drive up to her and yeller stop and get out. She slammed in the brakes jumped out and the car burned into the asphalt in about 5 mins. I park my EV in my garage with no concerns. Knowledge is power. Fear of the unknown is unfortunate.

      It's not fear of the unknown, it's fear of burning to death. I've been driving for 51 years and I've never had a problem with my ice cars and I've never heard of an ice car just spontaneously combusting for no apparent cause, while I absolutely have heard of EVs bursting into flames for no apparent cause and I am not willing to risk our lives and our home to satisfy the climate change boogeyman.

    Just wait till Saudi Aribia has something to say about EV's. In 2015, I lost my job when Saudi Aribia flooded the market with cheap oil, gas dropped to $1.65 per gallon, and put all of those American fracking companies out the business. Meaning if you guys think that Saudi Aribia will quietly allow EV's to eat their lunch your nuts. When the invasion of Ukraine is over Russia will need Billions up on on Billions to rebuild, where do you think they can get $$$. Oil and weapons was Russia's main exports, not sure if anyone wants Russia's military equipment after the performance in Ukraine. Sooner or later Venezuela will get its shit together and start pumping oil again, that country needs billions up on billions to get back on its feet. Apparently there was a huge oil field was discovered recently of west cost of Africa. I'll be Africa could use some cash also. World is a lot more complex than most realize by only analyzing their own personnel bauble.
    Until they develop next generation of batteries with higher energy density, eliminate the treat of thermal runaway fires and develop EV charging infrastructure, the safe bet with ones money is hybrids.

    The problem with the EV market is COVID lockdowns that caused a frenzy, OEM and dealership markups. Now things are coming to a normal state and people look at the change and think its all going backwards. EVs will not be best for everyone, but for 60-80% of current vehicle owners they will be the better solution. Especially if you have home charging. Residential cost if electricity is about 10% the cost of gas. Maintenance except tires is similarly minimal. The main problem fir EVs is theyve becime a political dog whistle that has nithing ti do wuth their cost or functionality. Apparently you can't like EVs if youre a conservative.

    EVs are not selling, because of those ridiculous prices. Car manufactures got greedy. Car prices increased by 50% since 2020. People don't have money to buy 100k work trucks.

    There many untruths in this including the carbon deficit of EVs they give opinions not data or facts. EV sales growth is still positive so it's not a collapse as suggested.

    People need to consider an EV like a cell phone. They depreciate the older they are because their battery dies over time. Electric cars are disposable. Buy, use and recycle unlike a gas car that can be continually fixed 😉🤣

      Actually that's not true anymore. Data was just released showing last generation batteries show less than 15% range loss after 10 years and 200,000 miles. Tesla batteries in current vehicles are rated to last >500,000 miles. So this battery replacement issue at some mileage level no longer exists.

      @@Ai_Toolshed yes that can happen but it's extremely rare as the data shows. Battery packs in 2020+ EV especially Tesla are extremely reliable. By the way engines cost $10-20K for higher end models, it's the same problem. Battery prices are coming way down in price and by the time any new EV owner has to worry about this (battery warranties are 8-10 years) the market for repaired and refurbished packs will be robust. So you shouldn't be worried about batteries.
