LEARN HOW TO MAKE A TASTY PEANUT BUTTER UDON NOODLES RECIPE TONIGHT!
LAY HO MA (how's it going in Cantonese)! Peanut butter is definitely not just for toast. Join me in this episode and learn how to make a deliciously nutty peanut butter udon noodles recipe today!
Ingredients:
3 tbsp peanuts
1 tbsp white sesame seeds
3 pieces garlic
2 sticks green onions
250g udon noodles
1 tbsp chili oil ( • Most addictive Red Chi... )
1 tsp sweet paprika
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1 tsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp maple syrup
2 tbsp peanut butter
2 tbsp water
Directions:
1. Bring a pot of water to boil for the noodles
2. Heat a frying pan to medium heat. Add the peanuts and white sesame seeds. Toast for 1min. Transfer to a pestle and mortar. Then, coarsely crush and set aside
3. Grate the garlic and chop the green onions
4. Boil the udon noodles for half the time to package instructions (in this case 3min)
5. Heat up the frying pan to medium low heat. Add the chili oil followed by the garlic. Cook for about 45 seconds. Then, add the sweet paprika, toasted sesame oil, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, peanut butter, and 2 tbsp water. Give the pan a good stir
6. Strain out the noodles and add to the peanut sauce. Add the green onions, turn the heat to medium, and cook the noodles for a couple of minutes while stirring
7. Plate the noodles and sprinkle over the crushed peanuts and white sesame seeds

Made this tonight with my daughter and we had it for dinner. Fantastic. I never would have thought that peanut butter, soy sauce, chili oil, garlic and maple syrup would work, but man it sure did. The crunchy roasted crushed peanuts. The sparkle provided by the ohopped green onions. Complex flavor. Deeply savory with sweet undertones and just an aftertaste of heat. 10/10 will make again.

My niece is vegan and it’s somewhat difficult to find meals we both like, but this is definitely one of them, now. I sometimes add bean sprouts and coriander for a change instead of the spring onion.

We live in Canada 🇨🇦 in the country on a lake and the maple syrup available to us is from the maple trees on our lane. The farmer taps the maple trees every year. There is so much camdy cane flavour and iron in the sap, its the best. It would change your mind about maple syrup. I have taken this to friends in Greece, UK, and North Carolina and in Canada.
OMG after a long day in the garden I needed carbs. I follow you and prepared this recipe. It was awesome. We lived in Toronto Canada for 32 yrs and appreciate all cultures of cuisine. I am from the Caribbean and I really want to thank you for your videos. I am a person with strong Indian and Chinese ancestry however my Chinese ancestors were predominantly men and because of the era and area they came from and the type of work they did in the Caribbean they did not get to pass down much cooking information from their cultures and those of their ancestors. I've always loved all asian foods but only curries and strongly indian based cuisine was thought in my family. Since finding your channel I've been able to successfully learn how to make other types of asian foods that I've always craved but been unable to cook (would often have to buy Chinese/ Thai / Japanese type dishes). I am a lover of soups and ramen but didn't understand anything about it and since going more plant based and finding your videos I can say I've actually made some of your soup/ stock recipes and felt a different feeling of home and reconnection to my ancestors and I can finally eat the type of food I have been dreaming of since childhood thanks to your cooking. I'm a peanut butter addict, so, of course, I'll be trying out this noodle dish. Also, I am a chili oil addict, thanks to Wil Yeung. His first chili oil video is my favourite - Chinese Smokey Red Flavoured Chili Oil. Check it out. It's not strained, as is his later Red Chili Oil recipe. Both are intense flavour! Not hot, just intense flavour. I've done them both... However, the first recipe (Chinese Smokey Red Flavoured Chili Oil, my favourite) has the added texture, because the oil hasn't been entirely strained of everything. Whenever a recipe calls for a tablespoon or two of oil, I head for my jar of Chinese Smokey Red Flavoured Chili Oil. It just takes whatever I'm cooking to a delicious new level. Coupled with peanut butter, green onions, and noodles, Wil's noodle recipe is heaven...
Until I can make a supply of Chef's hot oil, I am using up the several jars of Turkish shatta hot pepper sauce from Dollar Tree, mixed with peanut oil. Next, the real thing!

I've made this recipe twice now- I bought some chili oil from the supermarket rather than making my own as I didn't have access to all the spices required. Turns out the oil I bought is very mild unfortunately, so the first time I made the noodles, it was nowhere near spicy enough- though still really good. The second time, I added a bunch of chili powder to the sauce, which definitely helped bring the spice level up.
Hopefully I'll be able to find somewhere that sells the spices I need for the home made chili oil soon, because that stuff looks amazing!

delicious! I've had a phase where I'd make a very similar dish every second day, then moved to some other things, and you reminded me how easy it is. I steamed some additional broccoli above prepared water for my noodles, and swapped sweet paprika for gochugaru, because it was the only thing I had, but still: yummy! Love how easy and brilliant your recipes are.

Oh my god, I remember these noodles!!! I had something similar where I came from; it’s called “sweet water noodles,” a typical street food in Chengdu. I used to go to this tiny noodle joint after school with my friends. I haven’t had or even thought about these noodles for at least 20 years. I totally can't believe I've been making this for years with the exception of a few ingredients. I used rice noodles because I can't have wheat or any gluten. But I will try your recipe and add the maple syrup and the sauteed garlic, but still use rice noodles. It's my favorite noodle dish. Yum!!
I was looking for a good peanut noodles recipe just a few days ago, this is exactly what I needed! I usually mix the sauce in a bowl, I will definitely try this method of making it in the pan, it seems like it helps the peanut butter dissolve way better. (I made the mistake of watching this on an empty stomach when away from home... I'm in food-craving hell!)
