      Hydrangea Limelight trained as a tree, is a very popular item with our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ so you should not have too much difficulty securing a nice, well-shaped and healthy plant, but just in case, it might be prudent to contact your favorite place and ask them if you can reserve one. That way you should be ahead of the curve!

    New sub. David, great videos! Great info, growing tips, and presentation. Succinct and to the point. 👍👍Hydrangeas have become my go to due to the latter introductions and compact sizing which, really, are needed now when landscaping new residential subdivisions….hard to grow an 8’ hydrangea on a postage-stamp lot😂. I lean towards the 3’ specimens and Bobo, Firelight Timbit and Little Lime are all present in my gardens to complement the gold hued spireas and Royal Burgundy barberry. Collectively they are ‘top drawer’ in concert with each other. My most favourite though is Vanilla Strawberry with its massive, colour changing flowers which last from June till frost. Great channel!

      Your cooler night temperatures obviously suit Monsieur Renault selections from France. They (like you) have cooler less humid summer nights and that along with the sport that he discovered and used in his breeding line is the key to getting those brilliant pink colors.

    Great information! I live in Central GA, South of Atlanta. Tons of Hydrangeas here. I started out with the Limelight two years ago in a partially shaded area. Now I need one for full sun area. Not sure which variety. Maybe the Fire Light? I like that is is compact and doesn’t grow too tall. Will have to search around. So glad I found your channel!

    Could you advise on which of these are perfect for zone 8b Texas.
    Thank for always brightening my day.

    • @OverdevestNurseries
      @OverdevestNurseries  Před rokem +1

      Our experience is limited to this (Mid-Atlantic & Northeastern) region, so will always defer the knowledge of the experts in your local garden centers, but from what we understand most of these will be fine with you. Certainly the first one we feature (Limelight) is very reliable and adaptable and known to do well in hotter, humid climates. In your research, we would suggest that you consult with the experts at the best plant centers locally, and also take a look around other gardens, landscapes and parks in your locally, because if you see them thriving there, you can be reassured that they will probably do well with you too. Also, take note of where you see them planted.... we suspect that in your hot, summer sun, they will benefit form having a little bit of shade in the afternoon.
      David is glad to hear he is helping to bring a little bit of cheer into your life.

    • @OverdevestNurseries
      @OverdevestNurseries  Před rokem +1

      Thanks, it is great to hear from you and thanks for the nice comments. Panicle Hydrangeas usually transplant well, and since your plant has been relatively recently planted it is likely to be even easier and more successful. Just prepare a generous sized hole, lift it with a good root ball, and follow our planting directions in this video: czcams.com/video/xybT3obydPw/video.html and you should be able to move it successfully. If you need to, you can move it this Autumn, although our preferred time is usually in early spring, after the worst of the winter has passed and before new growth begins.

    When does Firelight Tidbit start blooming ?

    • @OverdevestNurseries
      @OverdevestNurseries  Před rokem +2

      It depends upon your locality, USDA growing zone and your cultural practices (pruning etc.), but with us it's a fairly early bloomer. We usually see it come in during the early part of Mid-Summer. In this video, these plants were trimmed a second time in late June and we filmed this video at the end of September.
