Michael Norman Manley ON OCC (10 December 1924 -- 6 March 1997) was a Jamaican politician who served as the fourth Prime Minister of Jamaica from 1972 to 1980 and from 1989 to 1992. I was born in the late 70’s , raised in a JLP community, was a seaga supporter myself, but as I grew up and started to learn about economics & current affairs I realize that this man had the right ideas for Jamaica, if we gave him a chance Jamaican would be a better place today. I must apologize to “The right honorable MR. MICHAEL MANDLEY the greatest leader Jamaica will ever see . RIP SIR

There is an inordinate amount of chatter here on Socialism and communism, it would be wise if people take the time educate themselves on the true concept of each and alas...take some time and LISTEN WELL, Michael Manley was never a communist nor a socialist. in his lifetime he went to great pains to explain his philosophy of Democratic Socialism which is technically an amalgam of socioeconomic empowerment of the masses executed in a democratic framework. This man had the trappings that could have lead him to pursue the usual elite bourgeoisie oppression of the poor and vulnerable among us, yet he choose to sacrifice his own class interest in defense of the downtrodden.
I yearn for the day when the masses of Jamaicans literacy and political analytical understanding of what Michael Manley's profound dedication and vision was about for his people and to the very end of his life was a journey of ultimate selflessness to this nation and to the oppressed masses in every corner of the earth.

The whole fact about Cuba at pointing time, that when Jamaica was very back in the early 1900. After the Panama canal they went to Cuba after the canal was finished, even the great George Headley was living there with his parents. Headley was born in Panama country of a Jamaican mother, and a Barbados father. After the works done in Panama, his parents took him to Cuba, but his saying he was learning too much Spanish, although he was born in a Spanish speaking country. His parents sent him to Jamaica to his mother Aunt in RaeTown In Kingston. Also Jamaica is only 70 miles to Cuba,if you go to certain point in Jamaica like in St,Ann. You could go to the Ridge property, and used a binoculars and sees Cuba quite easily. I read in the geography that Westmoreland is the nearest point to Cuba, maybe to a certain areas in Cuba. Because Cuba is 8•5 times bigger than Jamaica, but I know of a fact that. At one time when I was a young boy grew up, when people stowaway from Cuba, they useto end up in Discovery Bay St,Ann. There was a guy who useto be living in a district named Old Folly , also the same areas which classified as Discovery Bay within walking distance. The police always sent for the little man by the name of Claudy Scarlett , otherwise we useto called him. Claudy whitesocks,or miss Madge matress,he was living in Cuba for a while and learned a little Spanish. So he was the translator for the police back in those days,I knew a few living in nearby districts in St, they are from Cuba. Because their parents went there is Batista days, before Fidel Castro overthrow him.At that time it was a democratic country, so what Joshua the Rt Hon Michael Manley was saying he was right as a book, how the hell could you vexed. With your closest neighbor towards you, and you mad with him. Because certain country or countries say so,it is really crazy, and at. The same time as what Manley was saying, that China also other countries were communist too, and. The united States also other countries is trading with them, and the same time you are against Cuba.Joshua is Jamaica best PM ever, Which brought the country to a new level of life for poor people.

Manley did not let down Jamaica, Jamaicans let down Michael Manley, he had plan, when he saw that so many people couldn't read he launch the Jamal Program all over the Island to make sure everyone had the opportunity, he was always fighting for social justice for the people, you have never seen so many houses built by another party, under Michael Manley government along with Tony Spaulding the ministry of housing with the Matalon and Gore houses were been built everywhere even people selling on the streets could afford a nice two bedroom apartment in Tavares Garden; I was living in one, then a few years later lived in Braeton,. in Port more ,most people in the poorer class and the middle class who own a house or two got it under Tony Spaulding,, and other PNP housing minister, and I don't see anyone putting Tony Spaulding name on anything. The man who has done so much for housing.

Hypocrisy and morality doesn’t count in the global game of power and money. Those are niceties that move no one in Washington, DC, Mr. Prime Minister, and calling them out for it. Is an exercise in futility. Jamaicans are just too naive.

Michael Manley was ahead of his time! A visionary and an intellect of the highest order! The greatest leader of our country! Heralded the success of many even those who are not even sighted enough to make the connection. But for the Cold War, the CIA and their operatives, Jamaica's progress would have been much more advanced!!!! Always proud of the legacy both nationally and internationally of great Jamaican icon!!!👏👏👏

He did not cause people to leave Jamaica. Seaga conspired with the United States and the CIA to destroy the Jamaican economy because they branded Michael a communist for his policies and relationship with Cuba. Do you remember when Nixon told the CIA to let the Jamaican economy "scream and cry uncle? US destroy any government that puts the citizens' interest before multi national corporatoins' profits

You are one of the brain wash person,Michael Manley greatness is unmatched by any political leaders of our time, people leave because of propaganda, ask yourself this question, how do we allow someone who want to be the prime minister of our country with the backing of America to pay the food merchant of our country to hold onto the food that they have stocked in there warehouses, and create a food insecurity on our nation and let the use a slogan saying its only saltfish and cornmeal we can get from shop and the day after election run the place was flooded with rice flower? Just think if we weren't thinking of just our belly, see the same thing again with Andrew Hollness,is short sighted people like you who'll always sell there own people for fools gold, just remember it was under Manley government Singapore came to Jamaica and do a feasibility study on Jamaican economy and use our model to kick start there economy and look where they are now, while we are still like the greedy dog 🐕 that sees the reflection of the bone it the water and think it was bigger than the one in its mouth. Never a truer word from the great Marcus Garvey that the blackman will never know himself until his back is against the wall.
