“Oh” 😂😂
Another solid one mate 💪
That's right Mat, don't let foul weather stop you! Well done, and a big thumbs up for your lovely camera man for sticking to your side despite the cold :D
Camera Woman 😉
@@emanuelsantos5585 Actually she referred to herself as camera person ;)
Man. Woman, person, hired help, Kelly… all pretty much the same thing 😂
@@KellogsOnTheRun I think you forgot crew 😁
Absolute nails doing that in those conditions and Kelly more so for filming! Well done team 💪🏼
That’s one hell of a session. Well done
Amazing session, well done! I'm so impressed that you do these sessions solo. I am able to do similar sessions, but always with my running club - just couldn't face it on my own
Looking super silky smooth Mat. Cold makes you stronger just like X-Country 💪 Fantastic videography Kelly 👌 Looks a lovely track and location as-well
I'll run my 2nd marathon on the same day (23.04) in Vienna. You inspired me a lot, keep up the great work. Greetings from Austria!
Hardcore! Well done!
The adverse conditions just toughen you for race day! It's all a win! Keep pushing Matt!
Good running and superb filming.
As someone who does not own a dreadmill I approve of this vlog ;-) . Fantastic job and you're putting the shoes through the paces, that is for sure! I thought my Puma gear for Sunday was cool .. The UA gear this year is on point. (nothing wrong with being quick and with style)
U look in very good shap🙏💪 keep focus now! I hope u smash ur goal! Think possitive now and be relax! All the best on Sunday!!!!
Wow well done 👍
When the going gets tough, doubts creeping in, during the business end of a marathon its these sessions you think back to get you that goal. 💪
Strong man!! 😎👍✌✌
See you on the start line Matt - you’re definitely in great shape!
Great effort bud awesome mental toughness
Thanks mate 👊
That was an inspiring one, made me wanna go whack my shoes on and crank out some 400s. Good shit mate
Cheers. Editing it made me want to go back out and do 400’s 🤣.
Brilliant session. Looks like London could be 23° too 😅 the great British weather eh
Impressive work in rubbish weather! Good luck for London🎉
It's mid April and the better weather seems to be taking forever this year 🌧️🌪️🥶
Tony hawk Pro skater was a class game back in the day!! 😂 Nice to grind that one out Matt! #Characterbuilding 💪🏽
Such a good game. I actually miss some of the old games I used to play. No I time for any of that now 🤣.
Praying the weather is nicer in Newport on Sunday
20x400s is a great marathon session, great work.
Nice work in tough conditions
It takes a lot of mental toughness to do something 20 times. Great job
Character building weather 😂. Great work getting it done in that horrid rain/wind. 👏
Thanks Letty. Good luck on Sunday. 👊
Superlative performance.. your speed on those 400's is inspiring for me. I do 400 X 25 @3.58/km AVG pace with a goal of getting to your level some day 💗
Thanks. Great work and keep at it. Lots of easy aerobic work will make you faster at the shorter stuff too 👊.
@@TheWelshRunner yeah I follow the 80/20 principle. Most of my work is aerobic easy miles. Progressing nicely I recently ran my first sun 90 half with a time of 1:26:11. Getting there, and loving the journey 💪
Amazing session ❤ impressive looking legs too! I wish 😅
Well done pushing through the wind and rain.
Thanks. You have no choice in the UK. Have to get it done. 👊
@@TheWelshRunner Yeah I'm only across the way in Dublin bay. It doesn't matter for my speed if I run in wet gear!!
You know all about this weather over there 🤣🇮🇪
Such pristine form.
Thank you
Matt, that’s was one hell of a session in those conditions. Its the sort of session that sorts out the wheat from the chaff. I’ve trained in those horrendous conditions before, I know once you get into it it doesn’t feel so bad, but many just skip the workout when it’s like that. It’s the determined ones that achieve their goals that are out there whatever the weather. Kudos.
yeh man, go 60 per lap! =) wish you insane speeeeed xD
I liked the look of that Under Armour singlet…. Had a look online… £62! 😮🙅♂️
Matt, good one. Are you sponsored by UA now?
Come Matt....Give it some beans.... A little Speed work is a good thing
Absolutely. I’m looking forward to doing much more of this work after the marathon.
What’s the latest someone could do this workout before a marathon to get benefit but avoid fatigue? I’m doing London but assume it’s too late for me to try this now? Thanks Matt
I’m doing 2K tempo / 10 x 400m tomorrow. Shorter version of the same thing which carries less fatigue. For Valencia I did this session 10 days out.
I often adapt it to 1 minute efforts rather than 400m for slower athletes too.
@@TheWelshRunner thanks will give it a go. Much appreciated and good luck for London.
What’s the right amount of optimum running? Obviously to much exercise will have a negative affect
Thanks for the question but it is not as simple as that. What do you mean? Optimum running for who? To achieve what? You stress your body with some training, you recover from the training and adapt. Every athlete requires different levels of stress and recovery. There is no optimum amount of training and a good amount for one athlete will change through time and in different phases of training. Getting injured means you have normally done too much or not balanced intensity and recovery well enough. Not necessarily though. As for what is too much it’s just too vague and nuanced. You have athletes thriving off 200km a week and you have athletes struggling with 50km a week. Some triathletes do (and thrive off) up to 30 hours of exercise a week. I’m currently happy with 10. Everyone is different. Everyone has different personal and work circumstances. The key is to find what works for you. If you want to do more then try it in a gradual approach and see if it works well or not. Learn from training. Hope that helps.
What happened to the bike ? And who actually broke it 😀
Proper track?!
Yeah we made the effort to go a bit further to use a better track. I had visions of beautiful Sun. Not to be 🤷🏻♂️.
@@TheWelshRunner Worth it. It looks like a fantastic facility 👌
Yep, he’s at clydach vale, bit of a journey for a track session in the rain? Doesn’t matter what the weather and the day, wind is always in the same direction.
Are you running the marathon in under armour shoes
Yeah. I’ll be racing London in the UA Flow Velociti Elite. I can’t wait now.
