    What if it’s leak going through gasket looks like you put some plumbing seal on it

    My hot and cold water are opposite now lol, even the HC letters were on top like is recommended.

      I had this problem. You have to turn the metal part that sticks out beyond the hc plastic part 180 degrees. The side with the extra notch on it should be facing up.

    Do you have to turn off the water valve before you take the cartridge out ? And do you turn the back on before putting the handle on?

    • @DIY-repair
      @DIY-repair  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Turn the water off before you remove a cartridge. You can turn the water on as soon as you secure the new one or turn it on when all setup is complete.

      @@DIY-repair thank you so much one more question how do I know if it’s the cartridge or the handle on top of the cartridge that needs to be fixed . The problem I was having is when I’d turn it “off” it would still keep running

    • @DIY-repair

      @@rosaalfaro-kl6ln Handle just operates the cartridge. These are the main issues caused by cartridges:
      - Slow or no flow
      - Not mixing the water (hot and cold)
      - Won't turn off the water.
      If the handle operates there is no problem with it.

    How do I get the cartridge out of its stuck? Vice Grips and my strength won’t budge it.

    • @DIY-repair
      @DIY-repair  Před 10 měsíci

      Sometimes, I use second pliers. In the worst-case scenario, you have to drill it out but do it carefully. You can damage the diverter and cause more damage.

      @@DIY-repair thanks for the reply. I used a flat screwdriver to create a little space and then squirted WD40 back in the hole. Then was able to pull out with my vice grips.

      That's a great idea. I fought with mine for 4 days before it gave. I probably should have tried wd40..@@CouzsCornerSports

      Get a Moen cartridge removal tool. It's only $16 at Home Depot (Everbilt brand). Worth every penny!

    do you have to shut off the water to do this? or is it optional

    • @DIY-repair
      @DIY-repair  Před 4 měsíci +1

      You have to shut the water off for the whole house

    • @elsongs
      @elsongs Před 27 dny

      Yes, or else the water pressure will shoot the cartridge out and might injure you.

  • @aguy559

    I dropped the clip behind the wall. Any chance the cartridge can function properly without it?

    • @DIY-repair
      @DIY-repair  Před rokem

      No, you need to lock it in the position

      @@DIY-repair oh I know the exact process after calling moen 🤣. The removal tool will literally pull the stem out of the center of the cartridge then the housing stays stuck. Do you know how to remove that? I already know how after a very annoying time 😂, ayyyyyyeeeee 👍👍
