Getting food in a dumpster is not a shame. What is shameful is dumping foodstuffs just for the sake of dumping, throwing a lot of food when they are still edible instead of giving to the homeless and charity. <

Its liability. If people get sick they can sue. Basically assholes messed it up for everybody. If they changed that law and stopped allowing people to sue then theyd be able to give it away.

It's ashame how much food gets thrown out at grocery stores every day, when they could donate it to homeless people and feed them.
Yeah, you're right! Why don't they? They should donate it to church and to the shelter for homeless. Here I am, buying or budgeting my money to buy food just to donate it to church and here they are, just throwing it away without even thinking those hungry people. How sad!
They could Donate into some "pantry" in their town.I guess they also worry might get sued. when the donated items makes the people sick.
If they donated the food they only get 25% from the supplier but if they thrown the food they will get 100% cash back.. that is why many groceries doing this...
If they donate it only 25% the store can get a refund from the supplier. but if they threw it away its 100%
frozen meat as long as they don't change color still good.

In america, Stores used to give food away thats about to expired. Then one scenario happened that one store given the food away and one family got food poisoned. The family sued the store and won. The store loss profit and eventually closed down. So maybe it's one of the reason why stores threw the food away to the dump instead of given them away because they are afraid to get sued
Store owner they don't donate the food that getting to expired because they don't want to involve or responsible for the people to get sick.
Now I understand! It's one good reason which is very understandable.
So sad... in california dumpster diving is a crime. They made a law that any trash are STILL a private property. You could be arrested for stealing, such a stupid law. Maybe we should move to what part of texas was it?
In los angeles, a whole family was arrested for giving foods to the homeless, including their children.
That is true it could be one reason why they just throw it away. I know McDonalds use to give their Food they cooked that didn't sell to the homeless and boom a man sued them and said he got sick from the food and McDonlds lost the lawsuit. So No fast Food restaurants after that donate their food like that anymore, you have to come buy it an donate it yourself.

My son in law works @ KFC and they throw all their leftover from that day into the dumpsters instead of giving it to homeless people...the workers can get fired if they take any of the leftovers....only in America do we waste good food...such a shame
I’m telling ya what, after all the effort they put into digging, hauling to the vehicle, running out of room, taking home and unloading it, going back and lugging all of that heavy stuff to and from again, I would say it’s theirs to do with what they want to do with it! That had to have taken most of the night.

If it’s frozen it’s fine. I always buy the past due day reduced price meat for years and have never in all my years had an issue. People pass it buy, I saved $thousands...
My mom would buy the old meat when the store marked it down and put it in the deep freezer and let me tell you it was still good. I know this cause I ate it and I am alive today...

The excuses they give are, if it's expired we can't donate it. Really? Frozen food with exp date of less than a week is very usable. These stores or companies are plain just to lazy to take it to a facility that could use it. Plus they will destroy it over letting people take because of ''lawsuites'' ridiculous rules and even more disgusting corporations getting away with it.

In the Philippines, bread is not thrown by bakeries because they make them as puddings
They slice them put them in pan, make a kind of a sauce with sugar and milk, then add them to slice bread and bake them and sell.
many days we ate because of a relative would do this, sure there was some bad food and you throw it away but i cant say how much great food is wasted and should have been given to shelters.

Store policy feed the human spirit, delivered fresh, clean and safe to the consumers. Those food are about to expired , cant sale on the store. The store trying to avoid sue for food poisoning, imagine how much money the store would pay if the consumers win thier case for food poisoning that's why dive at ur own risk. Store not responsible for food poisoning, that's the reason why ,they dont give those food for homeless or other people that needs food on thier table. The store loss millions of money if consumers sue them for food poisoning..

@@rellacasey9582 it depends on the sell by date ..i have worked in retail stores and let me tell the expiry date is actually a more or less date and sometimes the meat is thrown out 4 to 6 days be for its actully due to expire...
As for other dry grochery s some times boxes are torn or coffe dentend and the product is still actully fine ...
Only if their has been recall on products like it has salmonella or listeriosis... ect ... Which u can uselly check on the internet..
Even boxes of cookies and candys are perfectly fine ..
Its just that the retail stores are fussey ...
If their torn box or dentend tin they will not sell customer ofcourse..
I have shared these videos to the companies who are doing it and to news stations. The whole fake news everyone laughs at...it's true, the news channels are absolutely controlled by government agencies on what they can report on or not. Reporting this type of waste on the PM news would strike up controversy and they don't want us mad about these issues when there's other things they need to control our thoughts with.

If those breads are just 1 day old of their expiration date, you can make a delicious Bread Pudding for all of those and likewise to all those frozen meats that you have just gathered. There is so mucch stuff you can make with stale bread, just like you said bread pudding, croutons,stuff and much more. My parents raised me not to waste food...

So what if it's freezer burned put the chicken in water and salt it gets rid of the freezer burn trust and believe me you won't be able to tell the difference let the chicken sit in the cold water and salt for about 15 Minutes rinse off the salt water fry it or freeze it great dive y'all

Seriously. The store owner couldn't pick up the damn phone and call the local food pantries. This is a sin. I know you good folks will donate the food but I am in utter disbelief that this food was tossed. Shame shame on the owner of that store.

I'm glad you were able to save all that food. I don't understand why that food doesn't get donated to food pantries. When I volunteered the local grocery store donated all kinds of food and I know the people really appreciated it. We even had home gardeners come in and donate some of what they grew. It was an awesome experience.
