Hi Izzy. I love all of your Rhapsody blouses. I love that pink on you. You just seem to glow. It was nice to hear you say that one of the fabrics was one you wouldn't have chosen. Another awesome video. Thank you.

What beautiful Rhapsody’s, Izzy! I especially like the bridge hacked versions. 💜 I haven’t tried to marry the shape with the I2S top, but I wonder if you could lay the pattern pieces together and trace off the shape of the Rhapsody on to the other?
The Harmony blouse is another favorite of mine. 😘
    Sew on with joy!

I’m definitely going to try “mashing” the Rhapsody and the Seychelles top. I’ll let you know how it goes. I tried the Harmony, but the fit was way off for some reason. I really should give it another go though because it’s a really pretty top. 💞

I’ve never made this pattern. Shock, horror, I know, but I’ve only been sewing for myself for just over a year, and it takes time and money to build up a pattern stash and fabric stash. After watching this video however, this is definitely one to add to my wish list, because the ones you have made are just gorgeous.

This one is definitely worth the money, but Love Notions have a site-wide sale a couple of times every year and I think one of them usually falls around October/November. They have a few really good patterns so if you wait for the sale, you’d be able to stock up! 💞

Yes, I made also already a couple of Rhapsodys, but I never changed to the new version. So it was very interesting to hear, that you think the fit is improved. The little tightness in the back I could also feel with the old version. So I think next time I will change to the new version. Thanks for the info.

Just recently found Love Notions patterns! Even though I’ve never used a PDF pattern, I really liked so many of them I purchased a few. Then I watched YT videos of hacks, makes and comments. I bought more of them! I have the rhapsody blouse/dress pattern and will likely make both versions as my first LN pattern. I’m a very experienced sewist so this one should be a treat to make. Thanks for the video and showing all the versions you’ve made.. I think it would have been helpful if you mentioned your height as being the reason why you shortened the pattern or another reason. This pattern on other women doesn’t apper to be a tunic length.

    • @dizzyquiltsandsews
      @dizzyquiltsandsews  Před 2 měsíci

Thank you so much for watching! You’re going to love their patterns I think. They draft for a 5’6 ‘’ body and I’m 5’3’’ which is why I shorten their patterns by a couple of inches. Also their tops are drafted quite long which I don’t love.

I have Rhapsody makes in my closet. First was double gauze that I did a thread chain and purl button closure instead of ties and gathered along the back yoke instead of doing the pleat. Then a crinkle cotton that I did bishop sleeves but with wide elastic cuffs and I added a piece of lace into the front yoke. Then a cotton sateen dress version but I didn't do the gathered skirt, instead I just lengthened the pieces to my knees and kept the shirt hem. I also eliminated the keyhole and put a faux covered button placket down the front. Then I did a simple cotton viscose version exactly as per the pattern. I love them all. I find the ballad blouse has the same fit features as the Rhapsody so I am making a couple of those too.

Using lace at the yoke sounds like such a good idea. I totally should try that! The pearl button closure also sounds really nice. I have the Ballad blouse pattern. I might give that one a try as well. If I remember correctly, you don’t have to do the shirring on the yoke do you? I think you can do gathers instead? Thanks for the inspiration! 💞

OMG! YES, the Rhapsody blouse seems to be everywhere on YT! Same with the Donny top (Friday Pattern Co). Thank you so much for showing your Rhapsody top makes from different fabrics. I agree that the cotton lawn doesn't drape as well as the knits, but still a VERY beautiful top. LOVE your choices of fabrics!!! They are all so very beautiful!!! You can pick out fabric for me any time!!!!!!! The bias binding method for the hem is very interesting. I'll have to give that try at some point. Great makes and pattern review! Will have to get this pattern. 🥰 I used to sew garments a very loooo-ooong time ago. When I started sewing again during the pandemic, it was quilt sewing. Found Vivmom and other YT garment sewists, so I decided to start garment sewing again last year. Have been watching a lot of garment sewists' YT channels to get up to date on patterns, sewing methods, fabrics, pattern hacks (FBA's), etc. before investing in a lot of knit fabrics. Made 5 dresses from my quilting cotton stash for Project Dress A Girl last September and had a ball! Now in the process of downsizing and getting ready for a retirement move (to Florida), so sewing isn't something I have the time for right now. However, I can live vicariously through all the YT sewists for now and enjoy seeing your beautiful creations. 😊

Awww you’re so sweet - thank you! I started garment sewing when my son was born in 1993 and did it for a few years but then stopped sewing completely until about 2010 when I discovered quilting and fell in love with sewing all over again. I only started making garments again right before the pandemic and I’m completely hooked! I love that garments are such quick makes. A quilt can take months to finish, but you can get a brand new t-shirt in just a couple of hours. 😂

@@dizzyquiltsandsews You can make only so many quilts and then what? Give them away?? I've got plenty of charity quilt tops done and ready to quilt, but they are UFO's for now. One day after I move, I'll finish them and give them to charity. Garment sewing you can enjoy and wear your finished creations. I've not given up quilting completely. Will make quilt squares from time to time to make a quilt or two during the year, either to keep for for charity. I've got a lot of quilt squares ready to sew together into a quilt top, but that project will just have to wait a while longer. Found your channel via Jen, Carole, and a few other YT sewists' channels that I've been following. I'm now one of your subscribers, too. 🥰

I am hoping to add the Rhapsody to that list. I am concern about how much ease it has -- I have tried the Love Notions Candance and although I made the fitting adjustments it still felt like it had too much ease and haven't worn it. Thank you so much!! I’m 5’4” but the distance between my waist and my hips is very short. So I shorten all Love Notions patterns by a lot and only below the waist (the waist hits me in the right spot usually). I don’t buy additional fabric for the bias binding. I use the 10” or 12” square method to cut continous binding from very little fabric. There are a few tutorials on CZcams for that method. 💞

I love your rhapsodies! I came across your video when I was looking to make this top. I am trying it now with a self drafted facing as I don’t have enough fabric for bias binding! I love the top you’re wearing too, may I ask what pattern that is?

Thank you so much! I'm wearing the Seychelles Top by Itch-to-Stitch. I've made that pattern a couple of times and it's a good one!

I think I already commented that I was buying this pattern immediately- well I did and it is so quick once you get going- luckily I’m using a thrifted sheet as a muslin-silly me tried the V with the little bridge - followed the hack instructions on the blog and it still gapes…not sure how to fix that - but I can’t wait to try this pattern with a rayon challis! Any suggestions for that V hack??❤-mary

Yay! It’s going to be amazing in a challis. I messed up the bridge when I did it last for some reason and it was gaping quite a bit. I just made a little pleat on both sides and tacked it down so that you can barely see them. I think the bridge looks best when it’s about 1.5” long so maybe try that next time? 💞

Izzy, the blouses are beautiful!! I have never done a PDF pattern. For some reason, I am intimidated by them. Do you send the pattern to a Copy Shop? (Not sure what that is). 😮

Thank you so much Marcia! I don’t send my PDFs to be printed. I print them myself on my home printer and then stick them together. I don’t mind doing that at all. The Love Notions PDFs have amazing instructions and they are super easy to use. 💞

Oh no! Make sure you pick your size based on your high bust and then use the full bust front if the difference between your high bust and your full bust is 4” or more. I always use XL based on my high bust, use the full bust piece and they always come out perfect. Good luck! 💞

I had just cut out my first Rhapsody this past weekend but in the dress version with the flutter sleeves. I used a challis animal print from Minerva. I made the full bust version in an XL but then graded out from waist and hips. How did you get the latest version fron LN?

Wow - an animal print challis with the flutter sleeves sounds amazing! If you go to the Love Notions website, log onto your account, the latest pattern will be available for you to download. Can’t wait to hear how your dress turns out. 💞

I've tried this pattern 3 times but never finished the blouses. Why? Bias binding. 😢😅

I hear ya! It’s the only thing about this pattern that I don’t love. 😂 I wish I had access to a fairy godmother who would make yards and yards of bias binding for me! And I really don’t love the store-bought bias tape. One of these days I’ll invest in one of those bias binding making machine! 💞
