    Gorgeous blouse!
    The second one you showed (which shows red on my screen), is just lovely, that is my favorite color on you-your eyes really pop when you wear that-the fabric is just beautiful!
    That polka dot fabric is so cute! Really a fun style! I am certain she will love getting all those tops!! (You know I am a natural blonde-and even when I bleach my hair white-I look much better in brighter colors, I find pastels "wash me out" instead of enhancing my features-I only wear them occasionally.)

      Thankfully, no one was hurt with the shattering bulb (other than Gidget’s feelings because she had to sit in the kennel while I cleaned up 🙄).

So Dash became a support dog in March 2019. He went to the nursing home to see gramma and everywhere with me. He turned 2 the previous October. He had to be in a kennel when I got him as I ‘rescued’, him form a life as a show dog. He had an underbite. So he was available but wasn’t neutered because he was going to breed too. Anyway had slight potty problem even though I got him fixed. The other day he was really bugging me, you know being demanding, I mean I’m his slave right? We work out to music and I throw him a toy. So I can’t play music when I sew or hell expect me to workout. I was super annoyed and said you wanna go in your kennel,?(it was over a year!) he laid down and looked like he was going to cry, you know how serious I am! . Guilty oh my goodness! I think a lightweight linen would be very similar to the mint one I made. It’s a cotton lawn so would have a similar hand!

    Hi Thanks for showing all these. I have the previous version (unmade) and have a question. The new block is a bit roomier through armholes and chest? .. would I be better off with the old block, since I am on the verge of a needing hollow chest and skinny bicep adjustments? Thanks 😃 🇨🇦

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery Před 4 lety

      Possibly. Maybe make up the old version first to see if you like the fit before downloading the new one.

    I bought this pattern on sale after seeing your versions.
    I have a question about the bias binding on the hem. I watched your video on bias binding on a shirt tail hem, but that was on an open front blouse. How did you connect the ends of the binding when hemming this pullover style top? Did you hem it before sewing the side seams and catch the binding in the side seam? Or did you tuck the end under as you came around to it? Or something else I haven't even thought of?
    Thanks! I love your videos!

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery Před 4 lety

      You can do it either way! I like adding it before I sew up one of the side seams and then it gets sewn into the side seam. Then I go around and topstitch it down! However, you could also just tuck it in once it’s in the round as well!

    I know this is so long ago, Whitney. But did you need to do a narrow shoulder adjustment on this top like you do for McCalls?

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery Před 3 lety

      No. I can usually get away with not having to do narrow shoulder adjustments on patterns that offer full bust or cup size options (not always, but often) because I can sew the size for my upper body and still have room for my bust.

    Off topic a bit. On the Monty shirt from style arc. I how did you sew in the collar. I tried following style arc directions and finally ended up doing my own thing but would be happy to find any hints anyone has on this. Thanks

      Ha that's interesting Sarah, as I had a similar problem. I think I put the collar on the wrong way ,as my hand stitching ended up showing at the front and I'm sure it should have been at the back. Is that what happened to you. I've never put a collar on the way they asked, so I was nervous to try it 😉. I hope Whitney can enlighten us 😁💕

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery Před 4 lety

      That was a tricky part of the Monty. I’m going to send Style Arc an email and see if they’d mind if I did some sew alongs with their patterns. My sister really wants a Monty so I could make her one in a sew along, possibly!

      Sizing can be a tough one! For the future, I would suggest also looking at the finished measurements of the pattern (most independent pattern have these in the instructions). I almost always go off the finished measurements. Good luck!

    Hi,
    I just made the blouse in L grading to XL to my hips. I have a 4 inch difference in high and full bust. It is a good fit but slightly tight across the bust. I read that the full bust adds 2 inches to waist and hips. Should I use the L full bust front and not grade up for my hips to XL or just use the XL pattern.

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery Před 4 lety +1

      I would try using the full bust L. I think that should solve your problems without getting too big around the neck and shoulders!

    I like some of their patterns, but feel bad they are pdf's . I realize it probably is easier for them but some of us do not have a printer and don't want to go through the expense and travel time to get them done....but, we will survive without them. They look good on you and colors as well. Since you do so much sewing, do you purge your closets more often?

    This is my first time trying to use a Love Notions pattern. I just printed and assembled what I thought would be the best size for me, then I measured the shoulder width. Am I the only one, or is this sloper block very narrow in the shoulder? Large is the closest to my measurements, except my back shoulder width is 16.5", but the Large yoke back is 14". Any suggestions?

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery Před 4 lety

      You might just need to adjust the shoulder. Do you have broad shoulders or a broader upper back?

    • @bretaskinner3143
      @bretaskinner3143 Před 4 lety

      @@TomKatStitchery Broad shoulders, narrows down very quickly (in my early 30's, I was an inverted triangle, now more hourglass to pear). I gave up guessing and cut out a sleeveless "wearable muslin". Shoulder points are a little narrow, but not as much as I would have guessed. I like it enough to try again, but will add more to full bust adjustment and widen the shoulder to try the short sleeve. I'm always fiddling with patterns, and I haven't made a woven top in years.

    I'm really getting concerned about your vocals. Sounding a bit misused due to possibly trying to talk softer during these many "Safe at Home" days. The gravelly sound as voice tone deepens and diminishes causing what actually puts stress and irritation on the vocal chords. Just a concern knowing how detrimental it can be if not corrected.
    Now, On the topic of presentation, you are the bomb! Thank you so very much for all that you do and have done. The teaching and sharing is above and beyond. To compliment you with a thank you doesn't seem like enough. Take care and let's keep on sewing.

      Thank you! I’m actually a very loud talker in real life. I have a hereditary ear issue that causes early hearing loss. I really need to go to an audiologist to have a baseline taken (if not hearing aides). I am pretty sure the loud talking hasn’t helped my vocal cords at all! Once we can safely visit doctors again, I’ll be making an appointment!
