  • Welcome back to my channel! In this video, I share the details of the garment I made with the fabric from my Think Pink box. This month, I made the Lygon Robe by Cashmerette which was a pattern for Club members.
    Spoiler alert!... I love my nautical themed summer robe! The fabric is very high quality viscose and is a pleasure to wear.

    Ahoy there!!! ⚓️🛳️
    Fantastic job with the nautical themed fabric and you chose a great way to use it. I love that Andrea is now embracing living on the South Coast 😂.
    I really like that little cross stitch kit, I do love something like that every now and again and I can see you sewing that as you travel over to the island, in your robe! ❤ xx

      She really is embracing the South Coast vibe isn’t she? 🤣 I thought about bringing my nautical robe to the island, but I will get more wear out of it in the city. Kinda perfect fabric for the island though. The cross stitch kit is at the island with me right now, but I haven’t started working on it yet. I’m so slow at that kind of thing, it’ll probably get finished next summer! 🤣 xx 💞

    The robe was such a perfect pattern for that fabric! It looks amazing!!!!!

      Thank you so much! I absolutely love my new robe. It's so light and breezy and feels amazing on the skin. It's perfect!

    I love the robe, Izzy. I also really like the fabric. It's a much nicer robe than the cheap polyester 😅😅 You've now got me thinking of making the pattern. Beautiful garment!

      Thank you Carol! It definitely is a much better robe than the polyester one 🤣 That one is now in a pile ready to go to the charity shop! The pattern is really good. I’m thinking of making one for my mom for Christmas (yeah I’m already thinking about my Christmas sewing 😂). I love that it’s for woven fabric, but I can’t think of a reason why you couldn’t make it in a soft fleece for winter.

    Izzy, what a brilliant idea for this fabric! I never would have thought of it but I love it. Funny, I always use the inside ties on my robes😂. I’ve not made this pattern yet. A few years ago Whitney from Tomkat Stitchery made a lightweight coverup/jacket from this pattern. It was adorable!

    • @dizzyquiltsandsews
      @dizzyquiltsandsews  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Based on the comments here, it looks like about 50-50 on the inside ties LOL I remember seeing Whitney's project with this pattern. I'm so pleased with my robe - it's been very hot here the past couple of weeks and this robe is just light enough to wear for my morning coffee!

    … that was the best idea for this fabric 💙💙👌🏼, I am also making a summer robe next week and agree the inside ties are not something I use either .. I really love your concept video of showing what you make with the fabrics you receive Izzy , its fantastic … 💙💙Monica

    It was such a good idea to make a robe. That fabric wouldn’t be my thing either. It is perfect as a robe. I love your Think Pink unboxing. Yours is the only one I watch.

      Thank you so much Lori - your comment makes me really happy! I feel the same way about unboxing videos. I don’t typically watch them unless I know what the person has done with it. As a subscriber, that’s what I want most - the inspiration or the ideas.

    Great use of that lovely fabric and again, the way you can make something in seconds is amazing 😄! I made a summer robe from black cotton voile with a shadow stripe years ago and still use it - they had you slipstitch the entire inner opening of the robe facing down and later I wondered why I didn't just pin it and stitch it with the machine?!? Sometimes you do have to make executive decisions about how to sew something. I made pillowcases with small birds on them and realized later the birds fly upside down on one of them...really not noticeable except to me!

      I really should trust myself and my skills more when I see something in a pattern that doesn't make sense to me. I'm so used to following pattern instructions! And yeah, directional prints are often something only we sewists notice.

    Thanks for the video Izzy :) I sew pretty much anything, although I'm a bit behind with your QAL for various reasons. I'm hoping to catch up this week, as I also want to try to do the one with Lost My Thread. My constant at the moment is a scrappy quilt thatI'm hand quilting. It's a teacher gift for a teaching assistant who has been amazing over the last few years with my great-nephew, who has special needs. He is leaving primary school next month, and I wanted to make someething special for her. I'm hoping to get it finished before the end of term 🤞

      You're so thoughtful to be hand-quilting something for a teaching assistant. Fingers crossed you get it done in time!

    I got the navy too- loads of it cos I get the large box!! Not made it yet but going to make a Co- ord set I think. I love your robe. Like you, never worn nautical but I do have a lot of robes and yes , always tie the inside ties 😂. Agree with you re the construction of the neck band. You have inspired me to get on with making this fabric up. So much fabric and too many plans to get through them all so quilting currently on hold. 😊. Happy sewing. Lynne

      A co-ord set would be beautiful in this fabric. I really considered making one. But then I figured a robe would get used every single day so I went with that. Appears I'm the strange one with the inside ties LOL

    Great choice of pattern to go with the fabric. You really put it all together and I know you will be wearing it for years to come. So classic! The cross stitch kit is so cut! Andrea is so creative and what fun gifts, I could almost smell the candle. Happy stitching!

    Lovely robe! I never thought about making the robe. I received the grey color way. I made a lovely bolt to showcase in my ever growing fabric stash😂. I’m will probably make a pair of palazzo pants and a blouse? I work for the US Coast Guard as an accountant, so it would be a nice edition to my work wardrobe when I go into the office. Enjoy your nice robe! I’ve got the be mine balloon top pattern out now to make up a wearable muslin. Any pointers? I always have to make a full bicep adjustment, so I need figure that out for this pattern. 😊have a great rest of your week!

    • @dizzyquiltsandsews
      @dizzyquiltsandsews  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I think palazzo pants and a top in this month's fabric would be amazing to wear to work! The sleeves are pretty voluminous on the Be Mine so measure the pattern pieces before you go through the trouble of doing a full bicep adjustment. Also, this top has a bit of a dropped shoulder. The designer says it was designed that way, but to me, it just looks too big for me. So if shoulders that are slightly dropped annoy you, you might want to do a narrow shoulder adjustment. Other than that, it's a really good pattern and I love mine!!

      @@dizzyquiltsandsews thank you! Would the be mine wok with rayon challis or should I use a more structured cotton lawn? I don’t have enough linen in my stash to try linen.

    • @dizzyquiltsandsews
      @dizzyquiltsandsews  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It would work with a challis but you would lose some of the drama of the sleeves. A lawn would be perfect!

    Your robe is beautiful! That's a great idea for that fabric. I received the same colorway. I am interested in the BTPD Advent calendar. Do you know about when I should be looking for info to order it? Thanks.

      @dizzyquiltsandsews  Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you so much! Andrea usually posts the pre-orders for the advent calendar in July or August. Although because she’s all alone in the UK shop, I’m not 100% sure she’ll do one this year. If you’ve not done so already, I would highly recommend her CZcams channel. She has a live chat every Sunday afternoon/evening and if/when the calendars go on pre-sale, she’ll mention it during one of those Sunday videos.
