- They design for a living, but has anyone ever checked on their style yet? What does John Galliano's, Jonathan Andersons and Phoebe Philos personal style actually tell us? They revolutionised Dior, Givenchy, Margiela, our beloved old Céline and Loewe. We celebrate them as our heroes, but here we have a small break down of what their own personal style choices could actually mean, far away from any trends.

Jonathan Anderson’s father played for the Irish national rugby team
Ohh the first well known designer that popped in my head pertaining to their personal style and that is Rick Owens!! I saw a vid some time back where he let camera in his bedroom at the time and he used moving quilts as rugs all around his bed. Even his home is a reflection of his style. Very much so minimalistic. Functional and textural
Phoebe Philo is the epitome casual chic ❤
That's very Rick to use something unusual as rugs, Phoebe is of course very different, but equally distinct in her style

Does not surprise me that creative folks, working assiduously on external (not on their own bodies) creative pursuits, want to grab simple, easy, comfortable clothing items every morning. . . like Halston in his turtle & slacks.
I think its pretty reasonable to go for a minimal wardrobe, but still interesting which nuances some designers choose 💘

When you showed Phoebe and Jonathan's personal style it reminded me of Marc Jacobs style before Louis Vuitton, it was so important because his personal style and designs were a response to the "sexy look" of the time and it was a breath of fresh air for a lot of us

Appreciate your incisiveness, knowledge and courage to speak your truth - and most of all - your wry humor! BTW, I often wonder about designers and their personal style. (I love the way some designers dress, but then don't see anything like what they wear in their collections. Kind of frustrating! So found this very interesting.

I think that the creativity has two forms, you apply it to yourself or you apply it to the outside world. Not both always drives one. Like designers, architects, creatives sometimes express themselves through their work and just don't have the drive to apply this creativity to themselves..but you ve sad it all already in the video, just my 5 cents 😅
Also, maybe too trivial but still miss Miuccia here which seems to love her own brand and plays beautifully with the archives still nowadays..
