The 2020 Audi R8 V10 RWD Is The Greatest Supercar Bargain You'll Never Buy - Why?

  • This month I'm going to be living with the all new Audi R8 RWD - the Rear Wheel Drive. Audi have previously experimented with a 2WD R8 in the limited edition Rear Wheel Series - but my brief time with that car left me very cold.
    Can the new, production run R8 RWD be any better?

      i guess it's because we have the first model in mind and we compare it with the new ones? Even without comparison, it's a nice car but you gotta admit it has not only visual flaws, but in general, the looks of it is pretty bland and generic. This doesn't mean ugly, because it's beautiful.
      I see a lots of beautiful girls in life, but man, many are bland and generic too ^^
      I would prefer more flaws but something that makes me feel something. Something with personality.

    • @beaudavenport2405
      @beaudavenport2405 Před 3 lety

      if production numbers are low like you said, the core economic principles of supply and demand mean the equilibrium price will stay high. therefore it will not be susceptible to depreciation.

    • @shabbytiger5528
      @shabbytiger5528 Před 3 lety

      That would certainly be the case if demand is high but demand is not high. Audi do not have the classic status of other marks, so don't have the same desirability, so in the short term depreciation will be high. However in the longer term when combustion engines are no longer made, prices will rise. Also the young folk of today like R8's because of Iron Man and in 10 to 20 years time, they will want to own an R8. Just like me wanting an Aston Martin because of James Bond.

This R8 has way too many fussy details that don’t add anything special. Another great Video James. Although not to diss your automotive wisdom but I think you've missed a trick in why people wont buy one of these. Yes it's true that for those of us like me that are waiting for our numbers to come up would probably buy one of the hugely discounted four wheel drive versions I think the main crux is that people have been brainwashed into fast audis the quattro the ttrs the rs4 and rs6 and previous R8 etc have always been 4 wheel drive so that's what people expect from a fast audi product and why they always vastly outsold the c63 and previously 2 wheeled drive e63. I've seen you and Petrolped brave this car in foul conditions and the question I think both of you failed to answer was, if you were to use your newly purchased audi r8 2wd as a daily when you have a 2wd 600bhp V10 at your disposal how far away from putting it in a hedge are you on a trip to tesco?

    Nothing & I mean NOTHING beats the RS6 Avant imho. It’s MY perfect vehicle for doing what I used to do which was mega long motorway miles & enjoying them, plus still being able to have a HUGE amount of fun when you come across some nice A roads at the same time of taking a few bags with you also. I know many people are going to have a different opinion but this is the multi role car that I can’t find anything better

    I mean really it's probably the one to get from almost any perspective. For the collector, there will inevitably be fewer of them and there is less room for depreciation by default. For someone who plans to drive them, there is less to go wrong mechanically (no center/front diff/less clutch wear) they're probably easier on tires, the steel rotors are cheaper to replace, even the motor being de-tuned a bit means less stress on the internals and bearings and such so you can pile on the miles with less concern.

      @KRGruner Před 3 lety +1

      @@jamesengland7461 Well, the UK price will be significantly higher than US rates. But it still will be a bargain, with better/similar performance, a much nicer interior and features, better handling (at least with the Z51 option), far more storage space/practicality, a removable roof (and even a hard-top convertible option if you prefer - that's my personal choice), and IMO it's also a better-looking car, though of course that's a matter of personal taste. You can also throw in better fuel economy, though that's a moot point for this kind of car. I don't think it's a hard decision, unless one is a die-hard Audi fan.
