I think it’s important to think about WHY Swift fans are so protective of her and attack when people question her talent or credibility. It’s because she dealt with *genuine* misogyny and targeted attacks for many years into her career. She really only cemented herself as a songwriter and an artist who contributes to her work in the PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS over the past few years. Before that, she was scoffed at, scorned, mocked, called a liar, and told that her co-writers carried her. To be clear-I hate Swifties who are unable to call her out for her wrongdoings, but this weird protectiveness doesn’t come out of nowhere. Until recently, blatant misogyny and the mocking of her and her work was widely accepted in mainstream culture. It makes me sad that Swift fans are now perpetuating this same behavior with Ariana.

I don’t understand why people feel the need to compare successful female artists. being a musician has many different layers and there is no one way to be talented. Singing and producing harmonies like Ariana is extremely difficult and songwriting like Taylor is extremely difficult. Both Taylor and Ariana write their songs, but I guess the difference is that Taylor’s lyrics are absolutely beautiful, they’re basically poems, or at least most of them. Ariana’s songs are not so “complex”; I listen to her since ages so far but unfortunately I’ve never found her way of writing particularly mature or deep, I don’t know if you’re getting me but that’s ok. So I think that this is the reason why Taylor’s skill of writing is always under the spotlight, but not Ariana’s. She’s unbeatable as a singer tho.
As a person whose read the best of poetry, there is nothing poetic to me about Taylor's songs. They come across as fake deep, and trying hard to seem like a poet. Someone whose songwriting feels more like poetry to me would be Lana Del Rey. She's ten times the songwriter Taylor is, and that's not even a question. Ariana has a different writing style that doesn't necessarily resemble poetry, but it's real and personal, and authentic. She writes like she's writing in her own journal.

Whether an artist writes their songs or doesn't write their songs, and if that's important, depends on what you want from an artist. Its personally important to me to be able to dive in to an artists music personally. I feel like i can relate better when i am hearing their story from them. On the opposite side of things, however, someone might not necessarily care about that and only want the music side of things. Either way is totally fine. One person's preference or opinion doesn't negate another's. It is art, it will always be subjective. Lets stop pitting others(especially women) against each other. Besides! I think it’s important to think about WHY Swift fans are so protective of her and attack when people question her talent or credibility. It’s because she dealt with *genuine* misogyny and targeted attacks for many years into her career. She really only cemented herself as a songwriter and an artist who contributes to her work in the PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS over the past few years. Before that, she was scoffed at, scorned, mocked, called a liar, and told that her co-writers carried her.

I don’t understand why people feel the need to compare successful female artists. being a musician has many different layers and there is no one way to be talented. Singing and producing harmonies like Ariana is extremely difficult and songwriting like Taylor is extremely difficult. Both Taylor and Ariana write their songs, but I guess the difference is that Taylor’s lyrics are absolutely beautiful, they’re basically poems, or at least most of them. Ariana’s songs are not so “complex”; I listen to her since ages so far but unfortunately I’ve never found her way of writing particularly mature or deep, I don’t know if you’re getting me but that’s ok. So I think that this is the reason why Taylor’s skill of writing is always under the spotlight, but not Ariana’s. She’s unbeatable as a singer tho.
As a person whose read the best of poetry, there is nothing poetic to me about Taylor's songs. They come across as fake deep, and trying hard to seem like a poet. Someone whose songwriting feels more like poetry to me would be Lana Del Rey. She's ten times the songwriter Taylor is, and that's not even a question. Ariana has a different writing style that doesn't necessarily resemble poetry, but it's real and personal, and authentic. She writes like she's writing in her own journal.

The "algorithm" for older musicians is different. They are riding the same system they rode coming up. Modern stars are different, becuase they have no choice but to operate from todays way of doing things. There's a better way to say this, but hopefully the point is clear.

i will never understand this obsession with song writing. that fanbase made it seem like song writing was the epitome of talent, when in reality, their fav isn’t even one of the better song writers out right now. she just used big words and tries to make her songs complex. is writing ur own songs impressive ? yes, but the way those people try to discredit every other aspect of an artist just cuz there’s more than one writer credited is insane. some of the biggest legends in music history never wrote their own songs. it was never that big of a deal. even thought ariana quite literally has been in the process of writing her own music forever, she just never cared to shine light on it like a certain someone.
I think Taylor just talks about it so much because it’s her passion. She’s proud of her work and that’s a good thing. Ariana talks more about production so I think that is more so her passion, even though she’s a good songwriter too.
I believe the songwriting part of being an artist rather than a performer. Elvis Presley was a performer and not an artist.

As long as she doesn't have ghostwriters, we good on this side. She's explained her writing process in many interviews before and we're happy that she's still the one that conceptualized her own songs, as well as vocal produced them. she may have had lot of co-writers that helped finish any missing puzzles from her past projects but at least they were close friends to her and not random people.
Everyone who edited or provided aid will be credited, it would be unrealistic for her to be the only credited one.
