- Bad fan motor on Range Hood Exhaust Fan? Don't replace the whole unit, just replace the fan motor ! It is a fairly easy task. Warning! If you are not comfortable with basic wiring and safety, do not attempt to do this yourself. In most cases you can get a replacement motor on line through a company like Amazon or other appliance parts sellers. I have attempted to produce an easy to follow video here for anyone who is interested in doing it yourself.
Note: Once you remove the fan housing from the hood, be sure to check the circular plastic vent louver which is just inside the duct work above the fan. It will most likely be coated with grease and it could effect the exhaust. If you need to clean it, simply pull it down and out and wash it with hot soapy water and put it back in as long as it moves freely. This louver closes when the fan is off and prevents anything from falling from the duct down into the fan. - Jak na to + styl
Replaced my Ventline hood with a Broan. Had to buy a reducing vent duct from 7" to 5". Works great! I love the option of low or high speed fan.
Great tip!
Thank you Sir

Thanks for the video much appreciated. But we really needed you to show us in it’s entirety which wires were hooked up to the fan & the light!
Our wires (blue instead of black) on our 1996 Cavco Ventline PR-4 are different colors than the replacement ones we got & we can’t figure out how to hook up the light! We seem to be short a red wire…🤷🏻♀
I think we finally figured it out. 🤞🏼 Thanks for sharing your video!
Glad you got it. That was why I included the wiring diagrams. I should have included a picture of the wiring before I disconnected the fan, It was not until then I decided to make the video. Thanks for viewing, hope you will like and subscribe.
Good video bro ,,you think I can swap a bathroom fan motor to a kitchen
If the motor matches up with same specifications such as voltage, rpm, mounting, rotation, shaft, etc. otherwise I would not recommend it...it is best to get a direct replacement.
I have replaced bathroom fan motors buy buying a new exhaust fan and used the motor from the new fan to replace the bad one before because the old exhaust fan was an odd ball and not available off the shelf, and it was cheaper than just buying a replacement motor.
They are exactly the same as a turn table on a vintage record player.
