FINALLY, super rugby is back. Been 5 years of just New Zealand teams dominating everyone. Now we have competition back and rugby is a lot more entertaining and less predictable.

I’m a chiefs fan. guttered for the chiefs, but how about the reds !? Forward pack looked strong, backline was fast n always in support.

The gap has definitely closed but I'm expecting the Aussies lack of heart to rear it's ugly head eventually.

Aussie teams always put up a good challenge at home. Home advantage makes such a big difference for all the teams. But there are some young players like McDermott, Fluke who are performing so much better this year. I thought the Reds were unlucky last week as well.
The gap can be declared closed when Aussie teams start winning trophies.
As a Kiwi it's bloody awesome seeing a resurgence amongst the Aussie teams, it makes for a far more entertaining competition.
Aus definitely a step this year and its great. Not that the Aussies aren't capable, but i wonder if this has anything to do with Joe Schmidt??
@@mikescudder4621 Bro , Phil Waugh is the guy . The new CEO is no fool , he has cleaned house hard here . Put more focus on our local comps . As a maori in WA . The last few years have been hard , with the NRL taking our top talent . Now though , His priorities are getting the game healthy again at club land . I can say this much bro , hes doing the mahi . Schmidt is also having his say . Like in Ireland , similar numbers so he has a plan . Will take time , however the rugby whanau here are onboard .

@@marksomerville1031my guess would be a no. Their main sport is AFL then Rugby probably due to the South Africans who live there. Pushing the nrl in wa is like trying to push it in the states. Rugby league will never be a world sport. Only really played by a handful of countries
I genuinely hope that Aussie Rugby is making a resurgence. So far, all 5 teams are playing good rugby, even the force in defeat.

This was the match of the round by far and the reds managed to shut Mckenzie down well.
The ref was also excellent, super rugby is looking good so far.

I think there is a buzz about this years competitions and hopefully its going to lift the roof off for teams players and spectators. So come on people get behind your teams as once again Southern Hemisphere plays that exciting style of running rugby, yeah!!!
the only thing that is missing are their fans to back there team and I know there are a couple thousand. but if the competition is like this then super rugby is back baby!!!!.

Having said that, an All Black coach once said that McKenzie is a loose cannon and can either win you a game or lose you a game as he can’t follow orders or a game plan.

So as a Kiwi in Oz , firstly its great to see Aussie rugby stand up . For those back home , Phil Waugh and the ARU have made hard decisions . Aussie rugby is along way from healthy , however these youngsters have got a few years on NZs next generation . Its showing , because where our elite players would take over . The hole left behind is starting to become noticeable .
Add the new coach , who has a record of rebuilding teams from the top . This is going to be a real test for Razor and his AB coaching team . With the NRL and AFL underway , it was important that the Aussie teams showed promise .
Between Drua beating Crusaders & now this....super rugby is back baby!!! 🔥🔥🔥

I love seeing the Australian national side get smashed but I also love to see their super rugby teams win. Great effort and a great game. 21 phases in the last play of the game shows that teams can have the discipline to not give away penalties and red cards and still keep the opposition out.

The Aussie teams have been playing really good rugby in this series. Makes me wonder what happened in the world cup. Was it really all down to poor coaching?
Yes. Why do you think the Crusaders have lost their first 3 games which hasn't happened since 2012? Its because Scott Robinson left to coach the All Blacks. Losing a great coach like that is gonna have an impact

Still around 17,000 people showed up - Suncorp Stadium seats 52,500, so while it was a decent crowd on Saturday, it’s going to look a bit small in a stadium that size
