Then I guess you weren't paying attention in 1996 when NASA landed a rocket after launching it. The program was discontinued because it was deemed to be not cost effective and unsafe, which is probably why SpaceX has lost so many of their rockets and only survives on government subsidies. if they had been forced to repay the cost of the satellites that they've destroyed, as they should have, they would have been bankrupt years ago. Instead the American taxpayer gets to foot the bill.

you know when you're a kid and you wonder if you could just jump off at the last second if u were riding like a crashing plane or something out of the sky?
Thats what this is. Gravity brings it down and it fires a burst of downward force right at the last second.

Yup. e.g. Uniform rate of burn, as evidenced by tail flame, but hugely increased deceleration as the "rocket" gets closer to the landing platform. Starts off coming down really fast, then miraculously slows and straightens. They didn't calibrate this cgi properly. It's like the "rocket" and platform are in two separate frames.
