Shopify allows you to purchase a domain and then set up email forwarding. You can also connect a professional email service to Shopify using Google Workspace, Zoho email or others.This is a tutorial for non-techies, no coding is required.

I bought a domain on Shopify, and setup email forwarding to my free gmail, but I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to respond to customers with a professional email rather than my gmail. I can't figure it out!!!!
Your welcome. You can however, you will need to setup a proper business email. Unfortunately this method does not allow you too.

Thanks for the video. I'm using a standard gmail account as the receiving email and just sent a test email to my forward email, but it never arrived. Would I need to set up a Google Workspace account in this case?
Thanks! Are you sure? Check your spam and make sure you have verified your email. You do not need a paid Google Workspace account.
I just sent a test message to five emails but the all landed in spam. How can I get the messages to land in the primary inbox of the recipients?

In my current template the only email I can customize is the store contact email there is no sender email in that same location?

Does this work like in the video if I purchased our domain from Google within the last 60 days & it won't yet transfer. Though our domain does show as the target. I'm confused.

Login to Godaddy and make sure the email is correct.
when you respond to customers through your personal email, does it show your shopify email that they originally emailed or your personal?
Unfortunately not. This is where you need to setup a professional email.

I had a shopify store transferred to me and Im trying to link an email with my domain that was purchased before the store was transferred to me. I've tried to follow your tutorial but when I go to my primary domain, I only have the top box where is says 'target and type' but not subdomians, email forwarding etc (approx 2mins 19secs). any idea why?

You can only do this if you got the domain from Shopify.

How about custom SMTP? Is this not possible through Shopify. I can't seem to find anything that is not a paid service like Zapier or similar.

Ask if they offer forwarding. Alternatively, you can transfer your domain to Shopify.

@@StewartGauld Hi Stewart, no I got my domain through a South african hosting provider. I have since then resolved the issue with the hosting provider, they had to help me with CNAME links in the backend, thanks anyway

For the first method, does the reply still reflect the proper domain name?
Not the reply unless you setup sending and receiving through an alias. At the moment you will just have forwarding, which is receiving.

No, only for Shopify purchased emails. Your third party domain provider should have these options for you to setup.

You would reply with the email you have forward too.

It wont using the forwarding inside Shopify. However, you can still use any other third party to setup your business emails.

I think that you are now forced to pay an email host to get an personnalised email for your buisness, am i right ?
No not to create branded email forwarding/alias. However, if you want a proper business email, then you will need to pay for an email service.
