    Great info David. Thank you so much. Another troubleshooting tip for anyone that still has issues with Gmail alias, is to basically change or remake your Gmail password. I had to do that since I have not changed mine in more than 10 years. After changing my password, plus turning on the Less Secure Apps security, everything basically worked.

    hello, I tried this and when im at the smtp server part, it doesnt work. It says that it couldn't authenticate due to the username and password not working. The secure less secure apps function doesn't exist anymore also

    This is how you use a domain name registrar for a pro email. It's a bit more techy and error prone than setting up an email with a hosting account but it can be done. Anyways, hit that like button and thanks for watching! ALSO check the trouble shooting section at the 5 minute mark if you're running into problems.

    Hi David, I have hosting with siteground and have created a custom email using their site tools/Cpanel. Can I forward emails to Gmail and use Gmail to reply (similar to what you showcased in your video). Also, why did you buy an email from Namecheap when you can create a free custom email address using your hosting provider?

    Just spent an hour messing with this... "app passwords" is no longer in the Google account menu and is now under "security" hidden at the very bottom of the "two step verification" section. That process failed a couple of times (said "service unavailable" for a while) but then I logged out of Google and back in 30 minutes later and it worked! Thank you for the helpful video.

    this option is not available on my account they saying To perform this function from your account, you must first change your nameservers to Namecheap default. although my domain is hosted on hostinger what to do ?

      Ha, yea it is a headache for sure. For the email and all alias last time I checked it was only possible to have one logo.

    Hi David, Thank you for a great video! I just purchased my first domain name last night. Had a lot of technical issues trying to sent it up. I finally got it to receive emails in Gmail. NOw my issue is trying to fix the "Authorization failed" error. I did everything suggested by you as well as the Google help form. I even set up 2 part verification on my iphone. Did it all and still stuck on the merry go round. Any suggestions? I'd like to skip using Hosting if I can.

      Hi Auntie. I had the same problem "authorization failed" I CANCELLED 2 part verification. I couldn't even get PayPal working with A2Verification on my Gmail account. After turning off that feature, it's all working. Try it; maybe that's the glitch.

    As of May 30, 2022 Google has restricted asscess to less secure apps. This method as is will no longer work because Gmail will block your alias. :(

    What if you're using digital ocean for hosting your website, and need to have custom DNS, what then? Since this is great but it won't work if you're hosting elsewhere and needs custom DNS.

      Correct, it's not perfect but a lot of people want to simply register a domain name and setup a custom email.

    Does anyone know if I can use Yahoo mail instead of Gmail for this? I created a domain email in my namecheap account with my Yahoo email but it is not working. I did not get any email people try to send me at the Domain email address. I hate Gmail so I don't want to be forwarding my mail to a Gmail address

      Yes, all clients should provide the alias functionality. I used Gmail because it's the most popular. But I personally use Proton mail :)

      Where the email lands up depends on Gmail and a lot of factors. The trust of your domain name, the content of the email, how people interact with your emails etc. I would reach out to Namecheap and ask if there is anything you could change.

      I personally use Google Workspace for my custom branded email. I however use Google's suite of other services to manage team members though.

      I have a section at the end of the video that covers this. It's simply hit or miss, but you'll need to change a few security settings if you're comfortable with that.

      Perhaps, I don't recommend this way. It's more reliable to get a hosting account and to create an alias. However, people want to know how it's done with a domain registrar so I did my best to cover it and everything that could go wrong.

      That's the negative of doing this. Honestly it's best to use an email host if this is important. Namecheap has some of the cheapest email hosting around.

      Have you tried changing or recreating your password in Gmail. If your password been used more than 5 years, it is best to recreate one. I did that and it worked for me.
