WALLS ARE GOING UP!!! BUILDING OUR OWN HOME
#trentandallie #diy #familyvlog
Without seeing your blueprints for the roof system, I'm worried about the extra height affecting how the new roof will tie into the existing roof. Cheers from Canada!😁🇨🇦🔨
Allie…can I just say that the drone shots, music, and editing are on point! You really do a beautiful job creating your videos! The Dream Team is on fire with this build! ❤
Your nephew Grayson is a great addition to the work crew. I watch every week, he’s always smiling with an awesome smile 😊
You need a sliding compound miter saw & set-up a jig to just start cutting to length. A hand held circular saw is a lot of work and measuring.
You guys are the BEST types of people. Seriously. Pressed for time, trying to get dry'd in before winter which is coming fast, limited resources to accomplish that task and yet you don't hesitate to go and try to help a friend or neighbor when in need. Well done! The world needs more people like y'all.
I completely agree. Crunch time paused to help a neighbor. Good people.
Hi Trent : Did you know if you put your tools in a tub with sand & motor oil mixed in the sand they will not rush? It does work ! I keep my shovels ,rakes & multiple tools in it until I need them & wipe them off prior to using them ! 🙂Just a helpful hint ! Old school rust remedy for tools ! 🙂
This is after-the-fact, but room sizes seem to visually change from step to step. On paper they look large, then when framing they seem to shrink, then when the dry wall goes up, they seem to expand again. So always, always draw it (along with furniture!) on graph paper, all to scale. Walk around your existing house and measure sizes to get a feel for the space you want. I've known people who thought a 10' wide master bedroom looked plenty big in the plans, and ended up with an odd house that was difficult to sell later on. Framing is indeed fun because it enables you to really visualize the finished house.
Isn't it wonderful to have an auntie Jennifer to watch Leo... I love how he's getting ornery with her, trying to lock her out then laughing about it. Shows how much he loves her!❤
Grayson needs an promotion of a new Sun hat! Looks like someone or something has been chewing on it 🤣🤣🤣✌️👍
I agree hard working young man, get him a new hat
The trees look absolutely beautiful in your panoramic view
Neighbors sewage challenge is a goood reminder to keep detailed documentation and solid landmarks for ALL construction!
The proper thing to do would be to cut all your studs to the correct length…. It’s easy enough to make a jig so each stud doesn’t have to be measured. You’ll spend just as much time calculating materials needed because of the change than you will cutting all the studs to the proper length.
Its almost like sticking to the plan would be a good idea.
Totally agree
Looks like fall as you call it in America. Here in the UK it is called Autumn and those colours of the tree's are beginning to change colour and they are beautiful. I love to see how Leo loves Aunt Jennifer and how he calls dada to Trent. Beautiful. Nice to see the walls go up.
40 years ago when we bought our house, we had no idea where the septic tank was…we called in the professionals and I kid you not, they used witchy sticks and yes they found it!! Out of fun curiosity, we made some witchy sticks out of wire coat hangers and we gave it a try ourselves,,,.it worked!!! Also, do we need to start a Grayson hat fund OR should we send duct tape🤣🤣🤣🤣
modern septic guys have more modern tools and can find it pretty quickly
You are building more than an addition, you are building a community.😊
First of all ~ You guys are working your butts off! Wow!
It's amazing to me all ya'll have done over the years.
When I had 3 kids under the age of 9, my hubby added a large addition to our home and a sunroom. He was also working a full time job a NASA at this time.
I had to balance the needs of everyone (one day at a time) I helped with these additions ( roofing ... insulation ... the list goes on.)
Allie, I know you do 15 other things every day to make things work out. That is not to discount the hard work that is going into this addition.
It is a lot of hard work both physically and mentally too.
Hugs to all of you
Your roof line should now be your most important factor. Let the additional inches be reflected inside the room, ie. higher ceilings, but don't let anything effect the planned roofline.
Nice and positive, Allie, love it!
Great touch with Leo and Jennifer!
I did wonder, the way Leo was squeezing the railing wires together, whether he might be able to squeeze himself through. I'm sure you're on top of it. Blessings of love!
It’s okay, Allie, the older & wiser I’ve gotten I’ve realized partying ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. It’s fun until the next day. I now prefer cooking parties in the kitchen surrounded by my grandkids teaching them how to cook. And we all get so much more out of it 🙌🏼🥰🤗
The colours of those trees is so amazing. Well done on getting the first walls up 🎉
Love seeing the impact Grayson is having on your build. Always a smile and such a hard worker!
to find a septic tank, use rebar... Pound a rebar rod in the ground, when you hit something solid, move your bar around to find the extents of the solid mass. saves lots of digging.
Rock bar works well too. That’s what my husband used.
It was Great that Trent took what Precious time he has to build his addition, to go over and help a neighbor, What a Great Guy, and besides that good job on your quick progress, and I just Love ur Cattledog Frank,
Imagine if they just made something that would allow you to shorten the length of those studs. Like a saw.
The addition is looking good. I bet you'll have the inside walls done by the next video.
About the neighbor's septic - there should be a cap to the tank so it can be cleaned out. Maybe that's part of the problem. The tank is full because it hasn't been emptied in years. Find that cap and you'll find the tank. It's usually right at the surface and easy to find. Vegetation likely is covering it now though. The county might have that information when the house was originally built and they had to get permits.
A professional septic company has the tools and knows how to find the lid.
Also, not only is the grass greener over the septic tank but the soil looks richer, too!
Looks like you’re having fun too. I can see a future covered walkway from the house to the garage.
I teach kids to use a steel wool pad to scrub rust off of hammers. Loving the new addition and Leo's interest in everything.
Great video and loved the music. So fun to see your walls going up and the flooring is in. Very special to have family members helping with the build as well, and watching little Leo. Stellar team ... Trent, Brandon, Allie, Grayson, and Auntie!
That was a good video walls are going up. That is a good feeling for you guys. Done a great job with the walls
Good neighbors are immeasureable blessings to treasure!!!
I just love how Allie is always so positive! What a wonderful person to be around! I'd say Trent is one lucky man! LOL
Trent: check your lumber deliveries for accuracy. Then your materials' sizes will square with your building plan. Also, you make far to many runs to the lumber yard to pick up this and that which you overlooked. Those extra trips translate into extra time which will catch up to you as winter approaches. Lastly, building pros would sheath the exterior walls before standing them up--a real time saver.
Trent, Allie, Brandon and Grayson are an amazing team. Leo is cute. It is good to see family together. Aunt Jennifer is awesome. Helping your neighbors is awesome.
Three experienced guys and Allie filming should be a quick build ❤
What happen to the time laps that was on that pole ? Thanks so much for sharing. Lost my grandmom few days ago. Today was the funeral. Happy she no longer in pain. Most of all know she is now home safe with are Lord. Find peace and Joy in this. But still is sad. Was hard today. Knowing I had your video to come home to. Was a blessing. Wife and I both needed it. Thank you for that. Hugs!! God Bless..
There should be septic plans at the town office along with the permits for the septic system. short video today, but I still enjoy watching you.. love seeing the building process.
Trent & Allie
You guys are really good neighbors! That is so cool how you stop your work and came over to give a helping backhoe 👍🏻 You guys ROCK.
Grayson seems like a great addition to the Trent and Allie team. He seems like a huge help!
True. A one man framing crew is impossible. A two man crew is much better. A three man crew is perfect.
Let's get Grayson a new hat !!!! :)
I agree! They should surprise him with a better sun hat. The one he's wearing looks about done. Lol!
plus he comes in with a nanny
And he looks like a scarecrow in his hat. Great job team effort for sure.
"Things don't normally work out the way I plan." I DEEPLY feel this. No, seriously: Story of my life!
One of the things I admire about Trent is his willingness and desire to help his neighbors with whatever problems they may have.
I caught the enthusiasm as soon as I read the title. What a fun and exciting video. I’m rootin for dry in by snow fall. Love the love and caring you guys show your neighbors. Septic is so expensive, can’t imagine what it would cost them to get a company up there to dig. As always, love seeing little Leo. He’s such a little sweet heart.
Walls are looking so good!!! The trees have changed in beautiful colors, so amazing!!! Your creation of your addition is going so fast. Great work!! Thank you Trent for the escavator help... God bless you all!!!!
From my perspective the addition still looks huge, especially now with the walls going up you can see you’re going to have so much more space. Your vision is once again materializing right before your eyes. Funny though that it wasn’t all that long ago you were surrounded by tons of snow. Scary to think that the snow is once again just around the corner. 🥰
You're such great neighbors always read to help out even when you're in the middle of your work...
Allie I love it when you're commentating (?) what is going on. You are awesome..and the guys are working so well together.. I am so excited for you. Leo well what can I say... he is just so darn cute and growing like a weed. ❤
Thank you Lord for Braddon and Grayson, for helping Trent and Allie.😊❤
Use devining rods to find the septic system...take two metal rods, bent at 45 degree angle, place in 5 inch long copper piping for each hand, walk over property, flushing toilets or faucet on...rods will cross and show you where pipe is. Good luck
17:19 You did it again, Allie - some unique music!
Sometimes it's hard to believe that about 3 1/2 years ago you guys were getting on a plane to return home because COVID had started. I think I've been watching you guys for 5 years. I should really go to work one day...ha ha
The video with them getting on the plane was my very first video and I haven't missed one since! I love their optimism!
We live a 1960s split-level house where the smaller bedrooms are 9x9, the principle bedroom is 10x12 andthe hallway 3-1/2 feet wide. Honestly it works great with the L-shaped LR/DR for adults and a basement rec room for the kiddos. No huge amounts of wasted unused space that have to be heated cleaned and filled with unneeded stuff. Would never go back to a big house.
Quick way to trim off the 4in, make a multi board jig, pull out your CHAINSAW!
Goodness! It is sooooo kind of you to help someone else out with their poo problem ❤
Standard stud length for an 8’ wall is 92 1/4”. This along with the single floor plate, and 2 top plates make for a tad under 97” wall. This is to compensate for ceiling drywall, and whatever floor material you are using, and will allow for a finished wall height of 8’
When Lika watched the wall raising from 11:26 it looked like she was trying to learn until she can build one herself 🤗
Hey Trent, "witch it". I have been pretty successful getting between 10 and 15 inches from whatever I was looking for. Thanks for taking us along! J.R.
Grayson always looks like he has a uniform on. Looks good. Love that you stop to help your neighbors.
When I first started as a carpenter, you couldn’t buy “pre-cut” studs, so you always had a “cut-man” with a jig and you cut each stud. It went quickly but that’s just what we did. No big deal to make the cuts.
On a septic tank, ALWAYS put risers in to access the lids without needing to dig every time you have problems.
You guys are very nice people. You seem to drop everything to help someone when needed, all the time. That has to be worth some really good Karma points. Hopefully you can cash those in for a fast & problem free build. Have a wonderful weekend!!
Everytime I see Frank out running on the property I say, "Frank is just living his best life!"
The changing of the leaves is so beautiful.. wow! You guys are rocking it as usual.
Drywall hangers don’t like the extra taping seam. So they charge for that. But for your. 8’5” walls if you order one row of 48” drywall and one row of 54” drywall then they can just cut an 1 1/2” off the drywall and not have an extra seam.
Yep it’s better to order one 5 foot sheet for the upper then to have all these strips that need to be made invisible all throughout the house you’ll be ordering some 5foot sheets Trent.
Allie, I love your perspective… always hopeful n positive…. Win a smile! That’s me too! 😊
That was so kind of you both to try and help your neighbors
Excellent score choices! On 97% of it. The last 2 minutes (of this video) I have heard a zillion times on other YT videos.
Your helping with your neighbor's septic problem was a very generous attempt. It probably had a 50% chance of being a roaring success!
(This video is one of the few where Allie doesn't attempt to say _garage_ and so counts for the success rate.)
They need to get a septic specialist out there is what they need to do...
Well done with the First wall 🎉 🙏🙏🤞 you get all up dried in before. The weather changes .
Great video 🥰
Great video..Allie.44 AM,here in Co.too..Great music. LEO is so amazing...great crew.....I was in salt lake,2015 to Oct.2019..then became a fulltime Nomad..I followed your Whole So.American trip...it was very inspiring❤😊
I really started noticing your background music awhile back and you get 5 stars 🌟
Great video!! You guys are great humans! With all you have to do yet helping your neighbors is a wonderful thing! God bless!
Leo is a little character, gonna be a fun-loving mischievous little man! 💕🙏💕
It's so awesome to have Grayson and Jennifer there! Love you guys and your families! I'm feeling it with you with the walls going up! Great video you're going to beat the snow for sure .
.. haulin ass as we say back home!
Prayers your way to frame up and seal up the exterior before that 1st snow flake falls! So exciting watching those walls go up - great job. And you still make time to help the neighbors. Thanks for sharing.!
Totally love the Trents-formation (🤪) the house takes when the walls go up, also my favorite thing to watch. Leo is the cutest thing ever. Hello sweet boy! Glad you guys were able to help with the literal shitty situation, lol!
When those Aspen Trees start turning that golden yellow as your video reflected, WINTER is on it's way! Let's hope Trent can keep That Murphy Character away you'll be Ok.....Love the neighborly help! ✌️🤘🚌🤠
I’m on the South Texas Gulf Coast and at midnight the heat index is 108 degrees. My dream trip is to go to a ski resort and be a snow bunny! Love your channel!
Watching and having breakfast from Montreal (CANADA). I enjoy my mondays and fridays so much more in the morning with viewing your progress in this wonderful adventure called life with Trent, Allie, Leo, Brandon, Grayson and auntie. Let us not forget the pooches. See you next week!
I love seeing Frank...give the pups big hugs from me please:)
Yeah Trent and Allie…. You’ve got walls, great progress! How far will the children’s rooms be from the bathroom? I’m happy to see your faces glowing with the progression of your home. Yeah Trent’s “Man of all Trades” skills are so helpful, even unto strangers and friends. Kudos to Trent’s mama for instilling compassion and kindness toward others in her son. Allie, your love and compassion towards others gels with your husband’s as well. The old saying, “what goes around, comes around” is true! Have blessed weekend. Oh yeah, Mr. Leo, wanted y’all to know, he needs more camera time and a paycheck would be nice too..😂. ❤❤❤CarrieJo/NC
You are not kidding about the fall air coming. I have said it’s coming very quickly! Not even ready for this cold season. Leo is getting along quite well! Hope yous can get this closed in before you know what.
Everything is coming along so nicely with the addition, especially with all the rain this season.
When I remember your 2-week lead time on videos and see your progress with Grayson on Team Build, I'm more hopeful about your being dried in for winter. What a cutie Leo is!
Wow! Your trees are already turning color! Hoping the snow stays away until Christmas Eve!
Well done folks keep your chin up and full steam ahead 🙏👍😃😃❤️😎🦘🇺🇸
Love watching your videos. Great nieghbors helping other nieghbors. Leo is so sweet. With his Dada.❤❤❤
Grayson is a Godsend to be able to have an extra worker makes this all go quicker.
I never heard of a party wall, it's very clever. If rain stays out of the forecast, a lot can be done before the snow comes. It's looking good.
Here in the UK all walls that are built between properties are called party walls..so called because they separate homes belonging to two different parties...nothing to do with actually partying..lol
Build is looking good, I do hope changing the wall heights doesn't cause issues later..ie, extra weight affecting the structure or making windows and doors difficult to install..✌🇬🇧
And thank you for Leo, I'm finding myself smiling whenever he is on.
Grayson es de gran ayuda para ustedes, sigan utilizandolo para sus proximos proyectos. Saludos desde Honduras
Yes, I want to contribute to the fund for the young man's new straw hat!!!! Soon, it will be flopping in the wind and it will obscure his view to help make this beautiful addition to your home.
Great video. Sure hope your neighbors smelly problem has a fast fix. So nice that you are a very helpful couple next door.
Hi Leo. Looking forward to seeing your next visit with all of us.
You guys are so bold when it comes to new fashion statements: like having an air conditioning unit in the middle of the hallway. Pretty risky, and bold, but I love it!!! 😁😅😂🤣🤣🤣😀
Absolutely Gorgeous over view of the trees turning colors for fall.
A tremendous adventure! You guys work so hard. You will beat the snow. Your trees have really started to turn. Be safe!
You are always so kind to help your neighbors!
You can always run a winch line to a tree to pull a tall wall up, or use your skidsteer to pull/lift the top.
Chiming in from Cincinnati, Ohio. Always looking forward to Trent and Allie on Mondays and Fridays!❤
Hello from Dayton! ❤️
@@Luvlacegrl Hope you are having a great day!
@@ritabroils6190 thanks! You too!
I just love that family is working to support each other. That Leo had his auntie watching him is the BEST imho Ps she can’t deny Grayson he is a mirror image. Lucky man.
Fighting time to get it all done . Winter is near. You got this one guys. Harriet , Jim and yuki
thats why you have a tape measure,so you can use it. You could use a chop saw and a jig take 10 seconds a board. The rock was the first clue of the drain field.
Hope all goes well with the extra height of the walls. 😊😊😁💕💕💕🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Good thing that you have that young "mule" Grayson, to help the old folk avoid lots of hard yakka.
