Actually, Brits respect the police a lot more than Americans. Some years ago, a police officer was killed (almost never happens) and even criminals were shocked.

I'm from Bradford. Crime is absolutely rife in the Pakistani areas and it's not unusual for crowds like this to form against the police in order to try and protect one of their own, no matter how disgusting or despicable the crime committed is.
Bradistan. The Pakistanis there even call it that themselves and laugh about it. Don't get me wrong, they're not all bad. Most British Pakistanis are law-abiding citizens. The older people and the women and kids are usually fine, but the 20-30 year old Pakistani men in gangs are certainly a dangerous problem in the UK and the government has failed to deal with it thus far.

@@liamharrison9825 I know the area well. I used to have to frequent Great Horton in my old job and always dreaded it, especially because of the standard of driving around there. It's among the roughest, dirtiest, hostile and crime ridden areas of Bradford, which I'm sure you know all too well. I hope you got to experience some of the nicer areas of Bradford.. not that there's many left. York must feel like a different world.

Policing in the UK works on the basis of 'police by consent' which basically means the police can only enforce the law because the public allow them to, the police are a public service and not the public's overlord. This is one of the fundamental reasons why most UK police officers don't carry firearms, it would alter the balance of power between the police and the public. This may sound mad to an American but the Bradford incident illustrated how 'police by consent' is still effective - everyone walked away from the incident unharmed because diplomacy was used and not guns. Yes, there was a lot of strong language going back and forth but there was little violence or threat to life on either side. The widespread introduction of weapons by the police would see more members of the public carrying weapons and would undoubtedly lead to more deaths, not fewer. The ability to manage a situation without a firearm is a skill the UK police should be proud of and I hope it's one they continue to use for many years to come.
True but unacceptable. When certain ethnic groups take over entire areas and treat it like their own country and make it dangerous and uninhabitable for anyone else it's not right. God knows what atrocities go on in these areas
'Just get a ticket if you're not doing anything illegal.' They are love. That's the point. They're usually selling drugs or worse.
This is where I live, police are regularly chased out of my area. Its in the North of england, West Yorkshire. I was trapped in the riots against police in 2001 when I was a kid.

Eddie from "Bottom" (Ade Edmondson) was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
I wish more people were sensible as you suggest. I was pulled over once because one of my brake-lights had gone out. I was polite and reasonable with the officer and I pointed out there was a Halfords (a store which sells lots of car parts and other things) only a mile down the road. I asked the officer if he would abandon the fine if he followed me to the garage and I purchased a new light and installed it. The officer agreed, I replaced the bulb and we all went on our merry way; after he lectured me about checking my lights before driving off. Even if the officer had insisted upon the fine, which he would have been entitled to do, I would have just accepted it as one of those things, paid the fine and moved on with my life. I've also been stopped at Christmas and New Year for random drink driving checks, which obviously I passed as I would never drive after drinking.
So many issues with the police can be solved by just being polite. Ok yes there are bad officers who will screw over anyone they stop, but even then it's best to stay calm and fight it in court. Running is instantly going to set off alarm bells and anyone who does it is either guilty of something or just very stupid.

In the UK our police have body cam and later on the video will be watched and any body who commits an offence will be identify and arrested.
The cop will drive the car to the Police Station and search the car there.
They would normally search the car on the road, but because the cops are in a bad area its safer for the cops to take the car to the station.
Bradford is in the North East of England. It's next to Leeds. Bradford has a large multi culture population. I worked in Bradford 30 years ago when unfortunately there were issues between some of the black and asian community.
Bradford has large area's of social housing and low income area's that have always fought the police. There are some very expensive area's as well to give balance.
With a armed unit trapped in the cauldron yet nobody saw a gun! if this was in America they would have all been shot the police obviously had video, anyone who they want they can easily go back for as they have all the car plates, simple policing ethically done without trauma

This is a second comment because I forgot to say something. At the beginning of this video they mention it's late at night in Bradford and they're chasing an Audi which failed to stop. Odds are this is a drug dealer because of the time of day, the type of car (Audi) and the fact they refused to stop.
Of course it as an audi. Nine out of ten cases are. My daughter has one and I don't begrudge this fact because she behaves and attempts to drive normally. ALMOST every time there is an incident, or a wrong doing on the road, it is an Audi involved. If not an Audi, it is usually a BMW or a Merc. Insurance companies have obviously cottoned on to this state of affairs and charge accordingly for covering drivers of these vehicles.
Bradford is just down the road from me and my Nanna worked as a mill girl there during WW2. It was once a lovely Yorkshire mill town back in the day. Unfortunately it is now basically Bradistan. I'm sure I will get haters for saying this (hi) and I genuinely don't care. It isn't England any more. It's little Pakistan.
Someone on that street got caught burgling his neighbours, so escaped out of the attic window, and sat on top of the dormer.
There's also a video from a similar show, where the Muslim wife of a guy who used to run a shop 0.2 miles East of me, got caught drink driving with her kids in the car, in a supermarket car park 2 miles to the East. She tried hitting the cops.
Bradford is my home city, grew up there. This area used to be home to Prostitutes, any female walking around there would be hassled by punters. Fed up of their 15 years old daughters being asked if they were "looking for business", residents chased rhe Prostitutes out of the area. The Police intervened & tensions have been high between them & locals. That was 1995 the year I left & it continues to this day.

There was a time when police officers walked the street,they knew people and people knew them ,they were part of the community and grudgingly respected.
@Ashley'sreview : loving your reactions to UK culture, comedy, etc. But you got to understand the BIG difference between the US & UK cops. Firstly, there are different police division between UK countries and counties : In London you have the regular Metropolitan police, then there's the City of London police which operate much differently & even have a completely different uniform. Both divisions DO have guns depending on the rank of position of the officers, for example you will see cops with guns are Buckingham Palace and the House of Parliament, in protests, sports events, even some concerts. The police in London operate differently to other countries in the UK. Then America as a whole is extremely larger than our little island and there have been tentions brewing between the general public and the police for decades, a lack of funding, cops r*ping & murdering innocent people, arresting people over petty 💩 & allowing others to literally get away with murder, p**dophilia, racial harassment etc. Most tax payers would like the police forces to be there to protect them, but feel in some cases in to take matters into there own hands, or in this case, wind them up. I know two wrongs don't make a right, but often the police here are the ones breaking the law💡

Bradford is miles better than Leeds, a city which sets Police cars on fire, and attacks Firemen every year, just like in Belfast.
The car will be searched, but he was just moving it out of the way for convenience. It is routine procedure.
Bradford is in the mid North of England & has a large ethnic community of Pakistani origin.
Some of this community have become antagonistic to the police in recent years, & can raise a riot at the slightest excuse. The police prefer to talk a situation down rather than make it worse. The police firearms unit could have showed their guns, but if they had been overpowered by the crowd this might have put the weapons into the hands of the mob, leading to a much greater problem. Generally the police will only use guns if the suspects have been reported as being armed first. The main problems in the area are drugs & car theft etc, though there has been a big problem with sex trafficking & abuse of young white women (because their Muslim women are not available to them). The older section of the immigrant community is much more respectful of the police & authority & live decent hard working lives for the most part.

it could be argued that in the 19th century Bradford was one of the richest cities in the world & it's decline is nothing short of criminal, i was born & bred not only in Bradford but quite close to where this incident took place, but i left in 71 for no other reason than there was no work. The lack of investment coupled with the lack of integration as resulted in what you see in this clip
Bradford is in West Yorkshire near Leeds. There is a significant drug and gang problem there. This is not typical of the surrounding area.

I wouldn't want Ashley thinking West Yorkshire is generally a bad place though. We have some lovely, peaceful towns and villages and really beautiful countryside. We are the home of the world-famous Bronte sister novelists as well as world famous artists and poets. I would hope Bradford wouldn't put her off! Even Bradford has some lovely areas, like it's cathedral.
It's the same story all around the UK. We have areas in my city that are practically little Polands (I'm of Polish descent so I don't care if this comment gets hate.) It's just the way it is now sadly.

The person is being held down on the pavement you can see the paving slabs. Things are done differently in Britain 🇬🇧 compared to america, if they do what is seen in the video they will be arrested and taken A) to a custody suite like they have here in Grimsby or B) to a police station.
The respect for police has gone down massively recently here and to be honest, i am not surprised. A lot of stuff happened before i was born. But in the last 15ish years IMO (as badly as it sounds), quite rightly so. I'm not shocked about the dislike against some police. You have the Ian Tomlinson and Jean Charles De Menezes situations. And very recently, David Carrick situation, the murder of Sarah Everard, the death of Nicole Smallman and Bibaa Henry. And the fact that the Met police have been found to be institutionally racist and sexist officially which leads to lots of people stepping down... Then not to mention, the lockdowns where so many rough arrests happen and in conclusion, those people have been reimbursed.
I personally have not a lot of love for the coppers. Sure some are great, but some bad ones are really damaging reputations. It's hard to say because there are friends of mine who are actually in the force.

While I do think it is perhaps a little more nuanced than @laughingachilles suggests, trying to evade a stop in a built up area seems like either extreme stupidity or desperation... no matter how powerful the car you are in, it won't really help with so many obstacles such as are found on urban roads. Running from the cops is sometimes a successful tactic but so is sometimes death or serious injury an outcome. Put it like this, I wouldn't do it. the clip doesn't show is the reason for the chase in the first place although while you shouldn't assume anything, I am going to stick my neck out and say it was more than likely stolen. If indeed that was the case, that would also answer your question as to why no search of the recovered car was apparently done (although it is highly likely at least a cursory one was done off camera - the fact the owner's property had been saved and the thief apprehended was more the issue than looking for bits of weed or whatever which wasn't really the point - there would also be some likely difficulty in proving drugs were left there by the thief, rather than belonging to the vehicle owner and finding firearms is unlikely in this country. Obviously fingerprints may well make a weapon easier to identify but even then, a good lawyer would probably be able to contend that having rolled around in the car with the owners DNA everywhere, it may still be difficult to prove) Again, having got the car back and nabbed the thief, that I feel is going to be "the result" here, rather than scratching around for other things....that might change of course if the Registered Keeper is "known" to the local police. Speaking of, Bradford is in Yorkshire which is the North of England. The city is about 170miles (probably at night 3 to 3 1/2 hours' drive) from central London and although has an economy of over £11 billion ($14billion) it is not very affluent with some of the highest levels of both poverty and unemployment in the country. I wouldn't want to live there.
As a final note, I know your preference is for the Likes and Subscribes more than necessarily a true fascination with the inner workings of a British police force (I was going to say a "minor British police force" but in fairness there are about 4500 full time constables - or officers as you would term them - augmented by around 500 "Specials" which are volunteers or part timers albeit with the full powers of a "proper" constable. This makes it a similar size to Houston PD, that is between Philly PD (which is larger) and District of Columbia PD (which is smaller) So it's pretty big in fact!) but while I don't doubt the genuine risk and danger of such a job in that location, you also of course have to bear in mind they're gonna give everything a more dramatic angle as they have a TV program to make that's actually going to attract viewers of which, clearly, there would be only a few if the program gave equal weight to all aspects of the job including walking the beat, issuing parking tickets and filling in paperwork...😏

Tell me about it. I have been assaulted in such a war zone, I'm a guy so it's kind of expected sadly. But what makes me so angry is my little sister was being seriously assaulted recently and people were just walking past.

Certain demographics in this country show no respect to our police officers. They think they're untouchable due to their faith and sadly...they kinda are. It's rare to see armed police here- I live in Edinburgh (capital of Scotland) and we do occasionally have armed police during the Festival, Royal Visits etc but that's more when the terrorism level is high. Although since moving to my new area, I have seen 2 armed response units in just one year (I live in a scummy area in North Edinburgh!) It's always surreal (and a bit scary) seeing them because guns just aren't a part of our culture.
Bradford is an area of the county of Yorkshire which is central to east and north in England. It is a heavily Asian area with plenty of "no go" areas.

How bad the police got over last 15 years plus is shocking. i have no respect for them, only if im driving they get my details on foot they can do one. 2016-19 met police and a few others what was willing to give out info gave out 21 million £ out of court settlements, false arrest, abusing powers just those two alone £1k for being forced to give name abusing power, kidnap / wrongful arrest depends how long they lock u up for as it can be 240£ a min ive seen for being handcuffed for a few minutes. so not only what i mentioned above and that tip iceberg, you got the grooming gang cover up, allowed 1000's young kids get abused for years, another case officers few higher ups were caught stealing drugs from gangs and re selling them for millions. one scary fact, more people die in police care (under arrest) than from terrorism. the police should not be trusted, careful with your wording and they can easy twist it even if your victim reporting the attack. one mad story from the grooming gangs, police got called to fast food chicken restaurant, upstairs was 9-10 older mostly undressed with a kid very drunk, the men were allowed to continue with other young girls when police gone the only one arrested the victim the young girl for being too drunk. for many its going to take many generations to build trust, they got non from me, trust is built over very long time, once broken almost impossible to fix

There are a few reasons for why it’s one of the least desirable places to live in Britain but immigration can be great for a society but Bradford unfortunately had too much too quick. It’s not multicultural with loads of different backgrounds like London for example. It’s basically two cultures completely divided. Muslim and the people who were there before.

Police corruption is the root of a lot of problems in the UK. How can a person/people have respect for a organisation who is there to serve and protect the public. But some bad eggs in the police force spoil it for the genuine police.
The bad eggs are mainly university trained social engineers at the very top. But it's ok I won mention Rotherham, Leicester, Telford and a dozen other places.😋
