Talking as a European who's approaching 30 and knows a thing or two about history, Villa is bigger than West Ham. Not even close.
Villa has won first of all, a European Cup. West Ham has won a Europa Conference League. Point to Villa. And no, "World Cup" doesn't count as a club trophy.
Villa has won 7 championships, and West Ham's best league table finish is 3rd place. That happened only once, back in the 80s. Another point to Villa.
And just overall, Villa has finished higher in the League more times than West Ham, in the 21st Century.
Those are facts. The only thing in which West Ham seems to be better, is the players that have worn their shirt, and that's debatable.
However as a club, Villa's bigger overall.

Villa won the most prestigious trophy in football the European Cup in that same year 81/82, but also followed that up with the European Supercup in 82/83. Villa also won two league cups in 93/94 and 95/96, while West Ham were celebrating at that point a 14 year trophy drought (which eventually became 42 years).

This is the problem, half of the villa fans are thick.
I’m a villa fan but I have no idea why some blokes come on talking about being a founding club. Imo, that doesn’t make you a big club. That just meant you had good timing.
Besides the point, we’re miles bigger than West Ham. We have won 20 major titles and West Ham have won 4. Ours include the league (x7) and the Champions league. They haven’t won either.
Their talk about stadium capacity - what a load of shite. They got that stadium because it was made for the olympics. They didn’t even build the damn thing. Birmingham has a population of 1m, compared to London’s 8.5m. Of course you’re going to sell out. We sell out every week and have 25k people on our waiting list.

West Ham have only won one trophy (last season), since 81/82, which up until then, was their "most recent trophy" ... for 42 years!!!
And while Villa were lifting the biggest prize in club football the European Cup, West Ham were merely celebrating becoming champions .... of the "second tier" in the English league (oh dear!). So, zero trophies in 42 years for the Hammers, and they wanna talk about Aston Villa's success being "historical victories?" 🤣 ... West Ham's victories are "hysterical" by comparison to Villa's. Buy hey, Villa have a chance to win the "Mickey Mouse Conference" this season too. Lol! 🤣 And by the way, you lot forgot to return our football kits that you borrowed! 🤣

IMO Newcastle in bigger slightly because in past 30 years where game has seen most growth, they've had more top 4 PL finishes & been in Champions League 4x plus bigger stadium & performed much better in the 26 years of the Deloitte Football Money League (google it). People need to stop living in past, Nottingham Forest are not a big club anymore - until recently they were in championship for 20 years & missed out on 20 years of premier league money & exposure of being beamed around globe hence why they've never featured in Deliotte Football Money League once while Newcastle have been in 22x, Everton 14x, & Villa 11x. Forest stadium is not big club standard either. They fell massively behind.

@@waynephillips3234 yes and no really because even the league cup the biggest clubs have the chance of winning it if they can be bothered. With this Thursday conference it’s like the Autowindscreens trophy or whatever it was called as it’s only a consideration for also-rans or clubs in reduced circumstances. You’ll take it but think it should be classed as a third tier euro major behind the CL and the Europa League.

@@waynephillips3234 yes I know but it’s completely lob-sided now. The ECWC and UC were recognised prestigious competitions but since the new format CL from circa 1993 the other two have had an existential crisis which has meant a number of re-brands. You’d be better off getting in the CL once and reaching the QF than winning 10 Euro Conference leagues. Also back then only 1 club got in the EC so you had teams of real pedigree in the UC and usually the ECWC. Now you can qualify by coming 7th or winning a fair play league.

This is such a stupid conversation:
Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd are and always will be the biggest clubs in England.
Tottenham, Chelsea, Villa, Everton, Newcastle and Man City (I would also argue Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday, Forest and Sunderland) are in that 2nd band and are largely interchangeable in terms of fanbase or influence on the English game. Chelsea and Spurs happened to be prominent during the Sky TV era and always get pushed in their narrative, meanwhile Man City monopolised the league with illegitimate money from a morally bankrupt state.
    That’s the only difference.
