What is a WiFi extender - WiFi booster for 2020? A wifi extender is what extends the range of a wireless signal from a wifi router. It acts like a bridge between a wifi router and a wifi device, that is outside the range of a wifi router. It's also known as a wifi booster.

I got an extender once. Used it like an antenna to pick up the wifi from my router and then plugged a ethernet cable from the extender to my xbox. Download speed went from 3mbps to 230mps. Amazing and well worth it.

No, the most commonly asked question about extenders was not addressed. Consumers firstly want to know if extenders
epeaters have to be hard wired back to the main router, or are they strictly stand alone devices.. or both.
@@Plissken68 He clearly addressed that. You connect wirelessly with the main router. Had it been a wireless AP then you connect it to the router by Ethernet Cable. But this is not a wireless AP rather it is a wifi extender.

Your video is already 4 years old, and it is good, but technology has improved a lot in 4 years.
I spent several months thinking about extending coverage at home, and finally I decided to buy a new router WiFi 6 extended so wit will improve performance and range.
All I need is conect the new router with cable to the Access point and Base Router.
Talking about price I think is almosy the same price a WiFi extender as Netgear than a new Wifi 6 Extended router.

Great video but I have a question please. I wish to extend the range of a wi-fi signal to increase its strenght in a hotel room. If I use the extender you suggested, do I just plug it in and it will work or is there anything extra I need to do bearing in mind that I will have no manual access to the hotel's router?
I've got Bell Canada modem / router running on the basement floor, and a powerline-ethernet attached Airport extreme on next floor in bridge mode. Now the whole house has great wifi. thanks for the advice Mr PowerCert and no thanks Bell Canada for installing our modem in the concrete basement dungeon worst spot for a wireless modem ever
