- Hi guys,
in the previous video, we have shown the new Bigtreetech PI TFT 50 display and explained in detail how to install it.
The video can be found here:
• BIGTREETECH PI TFT50 T...
The display is a 5-inch touch display and it was designed to be used together with a Raspberry Pi.
Bigtreetech also designed a graphic interface for the screen to interact with the Raspberry Pi.
In this video, we will show you 3 other graphic interfaces that you can use with this display, OctoDash, OctoScreen and Repetier Server. Also included are all the steps you need to do to install each one.
For all the instructions we used a Creality Ender 3, but the procedure is the same for other printers.
OctoDash - 2:00
OctoScreen - 12:27
Repetier Server - 18:18

Great video, Very clear and instrutive. Thanks a lot Rui.
Thanks for that video, very informative I've got the OctoBTT and Octoscreen running but I don't think I'll be spending £60 on repetier even if it looks to be more refined.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?
I was stupid lost the password. I love any tips you can give me!
@Wilson Stetson instablaster ;)
Thanks for an excellent video, very clear and precise. I have problem though, when I mount the pi to the back of the screen, it won't connect to the wifi, but if I dismount the pi it will connect to the wifi. It's as if the screen is blocking the wifi signal.
Could you possibly make a tutorial for installing Klipper Screen?
Will there be any upgrades for the tft50 like baby stepping and BL Touch bed leveling?
Thanks Rui ,very helpful and nice explanation, can I install Octodash or Octoscreen in Klipper?
I just got octodash working finally with my BTT TFT50 display. Works great. The only question I have is how do I find the feed length and speed of my Ender 3 Pro with a MicroSwiss all metal hotend and direct drive. I took a guess and kept the default speed. It seems to work okay, but I would like to use the correct values.
I think it will be possible to use Berryboot and have all three available
Can you also use octodash instead of octobtt ??
And what would be to pros and cons ?
Or is it like any other touchscreen for the rasberry pi ??
I currently have the raspberry pi 4 with octopi working perfect now I purchased a 7" uperfect display and also purchased a yahboom rgb cooling hat for the raspberry pi.. how do you make this setup work with the octoscreen and have the fan work to cool the raspberry pi?
Is it already possible to add custom actions in the screen off octoscreen like gcode
I just ordered a 7" touch display and have been weighing up my options and though of a third option and that is to run Octopi from within a RPi OS and use the browser of that OS to run Octoprint on the screen, I am already familiar with Octoprint as I use it on my laptop with Octopi running on the Pi 3B+, I dont know if this third option is possible but I will give it a try, I could always run the browser alone on a Pi Zero W connected to the screen and I know that will definitely work.
nice! i followed your video and tried octoscreen and octodash. can i make request installation of Klipperscreen
Will this method still work for the tft70 where the pi connects to the back of the screen?
really interested in the octodash. though they dont explain about installing the drivers for the screens.
I did need to install drivers, it just worked with Octodash. Prefer this to OctoBTT for now.
Can you still do time laps footage with octodash?
How's the viewing angle of the BTT PI TFT50?
Salve, Rui! Estes programas funcionam com o Klipper?
Hi!
I used Google to search for my answer, but I got no answer.
Do someone know how to set some kind of screensaver till Octoscreen?
I like the screen to sleep after my print is ready.
If there is some trix for it?
Thanks guys
Hello Rui I have a question, can any 5inch touch screen be used for Rapiberry? or just BIGTREETECH?
Congratulations on the video, this is helping me a lot.
Hi, yes, you can use a 5inch screen. Depending on the screen, you might need to setup the screen size/resolution.
I am using a TFT 35 display with my skr mini E3 control board. Do I disconnect the TFT 35 from the control board before I use the TFT 50 display?
Hi, check here our first video that explains how to install and use this display: czcams.com/video/EQiSkXKjplQ/video.html
I have ender 5 with btt skr mini, and tft35. would this be another screen? In addition to the one with the printer?
Hi, it's a new screen which connects to a raspberry pi. Check here our first video with all the details: czcams.com/video/EQiSkXKjplQ/video.html
Can this Raspberry with TFT Screen co exist with the TFT35 screen on E3 ? I think it could as it is with a current display screen from Creality on Ender 3 ... isn't it ?
Hi Pierre, yes, both can co exist. However, you must be aware that if you start a print on one you cannot cancel/pause on the other.
So does the normal ender 3 screen still stay attached on the right hand side? Also does this PI setup with touch screen allow for BL touch? or is that all dependant of the flash you have installed on the main board? Im looking to add the big tree tech SKR Mini E3 V2.0, and then this screen along with a Pi unit.
Hi Kyle, yes, the stock display can still be attached on the right side. Regarding the BLtouch, it's dependant on the firmware you have installed on your board.
@@ruiraptor just picked up the SKR Mini E3 V2.0 & TFT35 E3 V3.0! This will be next, Can you share the file created for the mounting bracket? Thanks again for responding!
Hi Kyle, we have the link in the video description.
@@ruiraptor thanks again!
Hello just installed octodash I get the welcom screen but the touch screen doesn't work if I press on next in the upper right corner nothing happens.
Is this a capacitive touchscreen? Or just a resistive one? And why do you use touch pen? That's why I am asking.
Hi, this is a capacitive touchscreen. We use a touch pen to avoid having finger markings on the screen.
Super
can you completely "retire" the screen that comes with Ender 3 or you still need it for something?
Yes, you can use only the new display and remove the stock one.
I have no return for installing octodash. It just blanks. I tried it without the bash and its access denied. Pretty sure I typed it right. I tried it 4 times.
I've always thought that the load filament options were completely stupid and unnecessary. I never use them.
Sad the screen is no more available :((
Show!
Do you need to have a pen instead of touching with your finger?
You can use your fingers. We always use a pen to avoid having finger marks on the screen while filming.
Followed the instructions to the letter and it fails with "Setting Xorg Permissions ...
-bash: /etc/systemd/system/getty@tty1.service.d/autologin.conf: Permission denied
Password: su: Authentication failure"
why?
Wrong sudo password, did you change it when installing octopi maybe?
so mine stays connectiong... never goes to "operaational"
Hi, did you access octoprint and establish the connection though there?
Unfortunately I have a problem with the monitor. I have two of them with exactly the same problem.
When I install software, TouchUI or Repetier Server, the touchscreen does not work properly. When I touch the USB port of the Raspberry, the touchscreen works. What can be the reason?
Hi Jan, does this happen with any software you install? As a first thought, that seems to be a ground issue...
@@ruiraptor Yes, i think also a ground issue... But it works with the OctoBTT ... not with all other
It's odd if it works with OctoBTT and not with all other.
My raspberry pi4 won't install octo dash. I set up my pi the same way u did and it won't install after going thru this whole video
A like for saying "DOS window" instead of "command line terminal" or whatever it's called nowadays :-)
I call it cmd since that's what I type in search to open it lol
I actually did not know the Windows comes with ssh preinstalled. I use putty, or ssh from WSL.
Very interest video, the best option is the Repetier-Server for control more than one printer, but it the cost of the lisence it is possible to buy one more Pi and control two printers for exemple. In my cause the OctoPrint alone it the plugins is the best option. I don´t see to much interest in the touch screens for the printer, the print process is normal very slow and monitoring the print via web browser it OctoPrint is really enough, two line screen in the printer it enough also.
is it possible to use pi tft display?
Hi Andreas, don't understand your question...we used the BTT PI TFT display in this video.
@@ruiraptor I mean can we use pi tft instead btt tft for this application?
Hi Andreas, it should work but you might need to install the display drivers. We don't have one here to test so we can't be sure.
mine keeps telling me iv been denied
It's not step by step...after burn system image your display working...so something is missing.
Layout is terrible :(
