    Hilarious! When I saw all the holes just to avoid running very tiny wire was absolutely hilarious…. Thanks for the laugh 😂!

      My jaw hit the ground when I saw the Swiss Cheese BS! Omg. It would have looked so much cleaner running the wires tight to a corner and horseshoe stapling them. Lol.

    I am going to do the same thing in my garage at the new house. Been meaning to make a video and show where Ol Betsy is at. Time is always the biggest constraint. I did just realize I need to talk to the electrician about moving the plug before it is too late.

    Great detailed video, just as I would have done (will do). Always a drag fishing wires. Did you do a video on the lift. I'd like to see that one!

    Great detailed overview. Thinking of using one of these for my new 9” garage and am curious if you delete the entire overhead motor, track rig and only the side rails remain. Would love to see a finished install after removal of the old motor. Thanks!

    Jackshaft opener costs a bunch more, including labor and the add complexity and increase the risk of cables losing tension because door only goes down by gravity. They may be more secure but you could add the solenoid lock to a regular opener as well adding complexity.
    You could have added a wireless opener button, either aftermarket or though opener manufacturer for anyone attempting something similar with similar concerns about looks.

    Also so I can actually access the storage in the garage attic.

    Why didnt you run wires neatly along the frame very small wire is better than all the holes

    Hopefully you have the offset arms for your lift. Will make opening truck doors much nicer with the posts moved forward of centerline

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  Před 3 lety

      It has “super-symmetric” arms. I can lift it anywhere from 50/50 symmetric to 30/70 asymmetric with it by adjusting the length of the arms

    • @Patman03sprcrw
      @Patman03sprcrw Před 3 lety +1

      @@AutoDetour right but that puts the actual post right where you open the drivers door.
      well depending on how much front to back room you have in the garage. I guess you could put the rack forward a little, and park the truck back a little

    • @AutoDetour
      @AutoDetour  Před 3 lety

      @@Patman03sprcrw That’s exactly what I was thinking. I have about 6 feet between the bumper and my workbench, but definitely will be playing around with placement before I drill any holes in the concrete.

    The real reason more people don't use these openers is because they are very prone to a issue where the door won't stay closed. Liftmaster who makes this opener is well aware of this issue but refuses to fix the issue. I hope you don't fall the victim to the "excessive force error".

    I want to install this wall mount opener, but my garage is detached and does not have any other access other than the garage door itself. What can I do install to open it if there is no power or the opener malfunctions?

    • @AutoDetour

      Most new Garage door openers have a feature where at the start and end of running they slow down. So starts slow, speeds up and then finishes slow.
