    I'm installing one now. I can't believe it didn't come with installation instructions. Thank you for this video.

    I recently had this installed with a new 7’9” door, and I’m very happy this far. Quiet, smooth, and the overhead clearance is great to have.
    I haven’t set up the Wi-Fi capabilities yet, the old-school part of me gets a little nervous when it comes to that, from a security standpoint.

    Good install video! Using this and the official Chamberlain one I was able to get mine installed and working.
    Very happy with it now its all working (very quiet!) but had to go through some headaches I'll talk about here in case anyone else runs in to the same issues.
    1 - The light was not paired to the opener out of the box! This was insanely annoying! Turns out this is very simple to fix (not documented anywhere from what I could see though), on the light there is a button next to the small green led light located on the side of the light that you can press and use to sync to the opener, just press the 'learn' button on the opener or control unit along with the sync button on the light and they should pair up!
    2 - The single button remote was not paired to the opener out of the box. Also annoying as all documentation seemed to indicate it just works out of the box. I was unable to get this to sync to the opener by pressing 'learn' and holding the single button until the door opens. What got this working was after installing the MyQ app and adding our door opener, we were able to 'add' a remote by selecting the single button model in the app and following the instructions, for whatever reason this got us working.
    3 - Error messages regarding lift/down unexpected/excess weight (4-1). This one is going to be specific to each person, but what worked for me was to tighten the set screws on the collar closer to the unit by 1/4 turn each. During install you're instructed to tighten the set screws on the garage door bar side by a specific amount but that same instruction is not specified for the set screws on the opener side. In other words make sure the set screws are nice and snug.

    Very nice. I also switched my openers to this style. I didn’t use the lights but rather a smart switch and linked to my main ceiling lights, which also shut off via timer.

    Awesome video with clear steps and tips. Does this unit come with hardware for installation to concrete or masonry, instead of wood/drywall/sheetrock?

      Glad the video was helpful. I'm still very happy with these garage door openers. I don't recall specifically, but I don't believe they came with any masonry hardware. Though your local hardware store would certainly haven't whatever you might need.

    Thanks for going over the clearance dimensions. They should really list all the critical dimensions on the box so you can see what you need before you buy it.

    Nice video and thank you for taking the time to make it. I am currently looking at new garage doors and wall mount openers; one for each door as you have. I am trying to choose a brand and wondered if you had thoughts on which brand is better? Liftmaster vs Chamberlain or another ? I gather Liftmaster have developed a model without a cable tension sensor but it is problematic.

    Thanks for the video. I just installed one of these units on one of my doors but I am struggling to get it into learn mode. I was hoping you could tell me what the lights look like when you double press the "learn" button. All it does is make my steady orange light flash. There's no red light like the instructions say there should be. Thanks for you help!

      Are you using the learn button on the wall control panel? I struggled when trying to use the learn button on the door opener itself.

    Don’t know if you r answering comments. If have a garage that the door is 2 feet out from the front of the house. At the house portion a support beam comes from front of house through the garage keeping me from being able to take the chain pull unit all the way above the garage door any ideas?

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  Před 5 měsíci

      The locks are automatic, controlled by the opener. Basically like a deadbolt. You could also manually slide the lock open also if the power were out.

    Installed mine. Door is balanced. Goes up fine. When attempting to go down, wire uncoils from drum. Looking for suggestions for a solution

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  Před 4 měsíci

      At what point does the wire unwind? During the travel? Or at the bottom? If it's unwinding during the travel, it sounds like something is binding the door, making it go down slower than what the shaft/drum is spinning. If you disconnect the opener, does the door go up/down smoothly? If it's unwinding at the very bottom, it sounds like the motor is continuing to run even after the door is fully closed. In that case, you might need to relearn the travel limits.

    • @wayneflett6816
      @wayneflett6816 Před 4 měsíci

      @@ScrufsGarage it unwinds at top (door open). I changed the angle of rail, (track) above. The slope was enough to help the door roll down. Instead of 90⁰ , 95⁰ now. I've been smiling for 2 days now.

      Maybe a reverse coil is on your torsion bar?

    • @elimartinez665
      @elimartinez665 Před 3 měsíci

      @wayneflett6818 Your spring(s) might need more tension. If you open your door fully and you see slack in your cables, the springs aren’t holding tension in the open position. Springs wind up as you close your door and wind down (relax) as the door goes up. Or you could set your limits lower, if you don’t park a tall vehicle in your garage.

    That body is moving clearly in the video, why? That doesn't seem ok nor correct.

    • @ScrufsGarage
      @ScrufsGarage  Před 13 dny

      The motor body does move just a little under load; completely normal though. Realistically, the torsion spring bar isn't perfectly straight, so it may have a little runout as it turns, which is what the motor is hanging on.
