It’s highly insulting to ask any African-American why they aren’t “working for free.” Ambulance chaser? If there were no unjustified killings, there’d be no need to represent the families of such victims. Are other lawyers “rushing to the scene” to assist these families? I wonder why not. Why are cities so willing to pay huge settlements rather than change policing into protection and service for all citizens. Excessive traffic stops, warrants, and the associated brutality and terror are the dirty little secret of how many cities generate revenue ... to squander.
His team outbids the rivals with the promise of the biggest settlement. If the city doesnt pay up, BLM threatens to loot and riot.

You are so right! The young lady on the Netflix documentary about him explains it a little. They (police chiefs, DA, judges etc) all work together so its hard to find firms locally to take the cases. They call Mr. Crump because he is not afraid. Also how can he travel and do everything he is doing w/ his firm for free?! This isn't the first time I've heard a reporter trying to shame a black person for earning money as if they don't have the right to. Mr. Crump has to eat, pay bills and the like. It is NOT cheap to fight any type of case, especially one that is high profile. You fight to win, not to lose, and that costs money.

Hey Josh..I see you have at least one child in the picture..if you were blessed to be the father of that child and God forbid something happens to your child at the hands of another(whether person or company) would you want justice and accountability? Sometimes when a sickness is amongst a category of people, that sickness must be brought to justice. Not all black people are law breakers just like not all whyt people are law breakers but sometimes law abiding people get placed on the sacrificial table of injustice and there must be someone to represent them. The goal is to raise the consciousness so fairness justice and accountability prevails
(7:00) I am surprised that Ted Koppel (or the show) didn't mention that Thurgood Marshall was a civil right attorney for the NAACP. I don't think Crump considers Marshall his "North Star" because he was on the Supreme Court, but for all the good he did while he worked for the NAACP.

What an amazing segment, I really have to say. This is quite a gentleman with a seriously hard job ahead of him. As a Native American I find it disgraceful that those that profess to fight for the most disadvantaged people do not fight for the most disadvantaged people in this country; the Native American community, because Black communities are not the most disadvantaged, poorest, and most incarcerated people in this country percapita. Is it time they recognized other disadvantaged brown people.
The Appalachian ppl are white and they're not any better off, in any meaningful way, than the poor black or poor native American communities.
Why focus on race? Hardship is hardship, poverty is poverty.
We can see that what makes white ppl wealthy makes black ppl wealthy ect. Why racialise it?
Why does everyone else want Black people to fight their fight? What issues have Native Americans fought on behalf of Black Americans? Stop wanting people to do the labor for you, but won't step foot laboring for them. Especially considering how many Black Native Americans were ousted from their tribes and how white washed the Native looks is these days. Black people had slaves because 9 times out of 10 it was their family. Why did Native Americans have slaves. Stop downing other minority groups who fight for their own rights. It's idiotic.

@@robziplock I have. That's how I'm able to state such things. Read up on Lewis & Clark and others explanations of what the Natives looked like. Also look up what deals Natives made with white people and the government against Black people they accepted into their families and into their tribes. I am very aware of the various topics around Native Americans. Don't admonish me while advocating for my people against someone who is calling us out unnecessarily. Talk to them. Oh Mr.Crump, I am so inspired by you! I have been a psychiatric, hospice, mental health and geriatric RN 4 38 yrs now. My daddy wanted me to be a Nurse but I wanted to be a lawyer. I am a 57 yr old white lady in the South from TN. Despite my best efforts, have been unable to see much change in my State. I so dream that I could work with your team because I dont know alot of white folk who can truly empathize with the pain. I truly try although will never truly feel it. Civil rights means everything. I hope the litigation will advance beyond civil settlements at some point. After all, it's not about money. Money cannot replace the lives of the murdered. We need criminal CONVICTIONS to show these folks that we're not going to stand for 21st lynchings. As for Johnnie Cochran, he was working on a major reparations case on behalf of American descendants of slavery when he died. And some find it oddly suspicious that he died in the middle of building this case.
