- The Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter appearing in GoodFellas (1990), Casino (1995) and The Departed (2006), all directed by Martin Scorsese. Interestingly, it doesn't appear in his Rolling Stones documentary/concert, Shine a Light (2008).
- Krátké a kreslené filmy
Scorsese:
-Puts Gimme Shelter in a number of his movies
-Directs a Rolling Stones concert/documentary
-Gimme Shelter isn't in the setlist.
ahahahahahaha ... good one !
Mick Jagger himself joked when the movie was coming out how it is the only Martin Scorsese film to not have “Gimme Shelter” in it.
@@michaelvessel4604 There are other movies by Scorsese without Gimme Shelter. LOTS of them.
@@kadenvanciel9335 I know. Mick's words, not mine.
I realize Im kind of randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to stream new series online?
Gimme shelter and gangster´s stories are a perfect combination
In scorsese gangster stories*
Not just every other gangster film.
And voice over
It’s also perfect for telling stories of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.
Gimme Shelter+Montage+Voice Over= Martin Scorsese Filmography
+ Robert de niro. And that's perfect, the way it is
There is something so magical about “Gimme Shelter” playing with Jack Nicholson narrating life. It’s a real “about time” casting moment. And I am saying this because Goodfellas in my opinion is the best movie ever made.
Ray Liotta narrates the entire movie
@@diane7135 2:14 is what he means
Thanks to Scorsese, whenever I hear this song, I think that shit's about to get real....
Nailed it
Every time I hear the song, it’s a history class in my head of the 60’s and beyond.
It feels like there’s at least two more hours of this song in Scorsese films
This song right here.... this is Mafia's anthem.
Soumyadeep Basu Eeeh No???
The departed isn’t really a mafia movie ..
This Stones make me proud to be British
I'd rather call it the Scorsese Anthem.
More live Ava Maria
Gimmie shelter and cocaine, a dangerous combination....
i really fancy some cocaine now
Rape! Murder!
One of the Stones' greatest songs. Still gives me shivers every. Single. Time. And Marty knows this feeling, so he uses it over. And over. And over. Works every time.
The only reason I started listening to the Rolling Stones was because of them being in Scorsese films lol. Jumping Jack Flash, Gimme Shelter, Tell Me, Heart of Stone, I Can't Get No Satisfaction, etc. I'm currently watching Shine A Light, a documentary by Scorsese of the Rolling Stones and it's absolutely amazing
He hasnt used it since The Departed?
Because he knows the song is about history!
@@Fondrom thinking it was in the Irishman?
The Departed intro is just epic
"No one gives it to you, you have to take it." Amen.
Jade Cleveland he was referring to illegally taking it though, so not so much amen lol
Amin.
No one gives it to you, and you don’t take what doesn’t belong to you. You earn it!
Uwe Z circumstances arent contemplated?
Did you forget the fact all these movies ended in tragedy and death?
Leo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Frank Vincent (Gattuso)... Scorsese uses the same Italian actors in many of his films, many times. He finally got around to casting Al Pacino, (The Irishman), but it surprises me that they never worked together before then.
He’s been considered for many of his films like Taxi Driver, and Goodfellas
DeNiro and Al Pacino worked together in Heat
And Leo always plays Irish. People do know there are blonde Italians right?
@@fastkarr8256 Michael Mann though, not Scorsese
@@toshcameron366 De Niro usually plays Irish too, probably because he's actually more Irish than Italian
My favorite Rolling Stones song...
Paint it black
It sucks this wasn’t in The Irishman
Yes that was the only thing that was missing from the movie
Also ray liotta wasn’t in that movie 🥺
Yeah, since Goodfellas, Casino and The Irishman is basically Marty's gangster trilogy and he used in first 2 movies and not in this :(
@@anuragdhondge9579 and the departed
The Irishman was a bit more "classic", not that much rock n roll.
1:38 joe pesci's narration was awesome and hilarious lol
Keef Richards created an atmosphere in this song that was matched by very few in its time. I thank this movie for my current love of the stones.
Wow, he must really like this song.
The rolling stones song are the best match for filmmakers like martin scorsese and Stanley kubrick
it's best in the departed
Nicholson personality
More like Casino
"If a guy tripped over a fuckin bannana peel theh questioned me" 😂😂
He must love this song. He has a real ear for music on his soundtracks.
It was most fitting for CASINO.
You add this into the mix... Maybe Vegas just got to all of us.
You can't beat Scorsese movies and using the Stones in the soundtrack....love it!!
Its rumored that in the film "The Irisman" which will star Joe Pesci, Bobby De Niro and Al Pacino, will feature this song one more time.
Can't be more hyped!
Oh man I can't wait. This better be very great film and it's gonna be my first time watch a Martin Picture in theater. I really can't wait.
wait what. But he made loads of movies recently too.
hopefully not for the last time
The last ride of the golden generation. The greatest cast assembled. Can't be more hyped.
3 times is overkill
11 people tripped over a fucking banana peel and they questioned Nicky.
I’d love to be in a Mafia movie with these 3. With a cameo by Walken. Obviously.
Casino always best :)
"They questioned nicki"
1:22 She hit the high note so high it made the car explode.
Without a doubt, the best rock n roll song of all time....timeless...
The departed is so underrated (ye I know it got an Oscar)
R.I.P Ray Liotta
The best song in the f*ucking world!!
0:55 and 1:49 the exact same part of the song both deniro and Vincent are making there tough guy walk ! Great vision by Martin to utilize the same part of the song
I’m pretty sure Gimme Shelter has any many appearances in Scorsese films as Di Nero😂
Technically no but yea Scorsese loved gimme shelter
"..Be nice, eh? Be Nice!"
the one that kicks serious ass is the one at the closing of the film GIMME SHELTER. it's live ,it's raw, it's after we've seen a guy killed, and it's the least known version of their own career. and check out GRAND FUNK RR's cover of it.
The awesome Merry Clayton....
She's the best!!!
He really likes that song, huh
Who doesn't? It's the best Rolling Stone song there is!!!!!
@@pat3834 YES!!
That opening to The departed will always be my favorite
Gimme Shelter in The Irishman to Marty :- " Gimme a break "
Awesome video, thanks for uploading!
How can Martin Scorsese be an excellent director and have even better taste in music?
5:05 Onward...Gimme Shelter With Vera Farmiga!
I love that song so much 🥰
I wonder if Scorsese will use the song in 'The Irishman'.
I heard that he will
He will
He didn't
:(
Well this comment aged well...
Man such memories...
People appreciate Scorseses work after Goodfellas, but really after making what is probably the best movie ever, you can only go downhill... :)
That's what people said after taxi driver (76) then after raging bull (80) and finally after goodfellas (90) I have faith he can pull out at least another "best movie of all time"
Please tell me you're not serious. The Departed and Wolf of Wall Street were fantastic!
Heather Banks I didnt say these movies were bad, but it really doesnt get any better then Goodfellas... And the Wolf is basically Goodfellas 3 (Casino is GF 2), with more F-words and 4th wall breaking etc... Goodfellas is just a perfect movie, thats all... And I dont even like gangster movies!!! :D
antenman i agree, i love all these movie, he's my favorite director but godfellas and mean street wooow !!! and its normal because in these two movie he wrote everything dialogue story :)
+Antenman nah man most people think taxi driver and raging bull are just as good if not better. Raging Bull is the main reason most critics and people in films growing up in the 80's got involved in cinema. Goodfellas is his most popular and one of his best but I think Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Mean Streets match Goodfellas. I love the departed although I admit it probably is just below the those 4 along with Casino. Shutter Island and Wolf are both flawed but still very good. An average scorsese film is better than 80% of films that come out every year.
Francis you should really see somebody. lol
Casino had the best scene
p
I went to see the Stones last month in Anfield!
1:00 I wanna play a game
So the song is only played when someone narrates. It's like a tribute to film noir.
Martin Scorsese's Theme
1:23... The best.
Indeed
Why is it not in the Irishman one of the things I was waiting for 😧😢
Quentin Tarantino should’ve put this song in Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown. But he rightfully didn’t put this song in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood because that took place in 1969 before Gimmie Shelter was even written.
Gimme Shelter doesn't fit any of those movies
Its the best real movie! And found the good music for every part!
I'm just shocked it's only in 3 movies
Wasn’t it in mean streets?
For whom the Bell tolls
Debi Mazar's style of hair n makeup, the 50's or 60's style, reminds me of Amy Winehouse.
You forgot the scene in Casino where Nicky and his crew were at their worst addicted to booze and cocaine.
job489 "I heard one night he had to belt a guy three times before the guy finally went down. The old days, Nicky would have decked him with one shot!"
Gimme shelter is just a wicked cool tune..
You know, 1:00 If Jigsaw was my probation officer, I would stay out of trouble
WTF IS IT WITH YOU AND YOUR PHONE!?!?!?!
LOL!
My fave movie!!
Stella Ercolani which one?
RIP Charlie Watts
Love It ............ AMEN PHILADELPHIA USA
Just how much more class did his earlier films have, is unbelievable.
The earliest film here, Goodfellas, was released 23 years after his feature film debut and 17 years after his first gangster film. The newest film here, The Departed, was released in 2006, only 10 years before your comment. These are his newer films.
His last film also has ton of class
All of them have class
Unlike many of Marty’s peers who arrived in the late 1960s and 1970s, he's maintained a staying power and high quality that's spanned over 50 years. None of the others can say that. They either flamed out or died.
Was that Jigsaw at 1:02?
Gimme Shelter has appeared in more movies than Joe Pesci (maybe)
Gimme Shelter..
Mobster Anthem...as far As I Remember well..
"She fell funny" 😂
1:05 Casino is best ever...
Any body have a link to the concert version from casino?
y el principio de "Los infiltrados"
and the beginning of the "The Departed"
Genius
I was made when this was not in Hugo, to be honest.
Fair enough to Marty, it is a very good song, indeed
It did not feature in The Irishman
Official mafia anthem
Someone should dub this song over some of his other movies too like taxi driver
I thought I was crazy
It should have played in Mean Streets and Irishman too
He uses the Stones’ “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Tell Me” quite effectively in Mean Streets. In fact, I don't think Marty’s effectively juxtaposed popular music and imagery better than that film. It's almost the central character, in a way.
Who would have thought a song about the Vietnam War would fit with so many things?
Okay Marty... "Sweet Sounds Of Heaven"...make somthin' outta that.
You better get organized , quick!
Gold
no one uses the stones music better
What version of Gimme Shelter is that in Casino? Link?
Clark Gable it was from a concert in Amsterdam, 1995
2:33
He realy like The stones
Nice picture
Nick Saban sent us
From which concert does the casino version is taken from ?
Altamira @Amsterdam 1995
Thanks :)
When this song is playing you know nothing good is happening.
Nicky gets whaked, they question Nicky
Which is better, more entertaining?
-Boston Mafia
-New York Mafia
New York hands down. It goes like this:
- New York
- Boston
- Chicago
- Miami
The Bikeriders was such a Scorsese knockoff (Goodfellas in particular) that I was genuinely surprised that Gimme Shelter did not creep into the soundtrack
Most martin scorsese movies are about rise and fall stories
This is the theme of the downfall part
Remember Layer cake
Mike P I know. But have you seen it.?
I didn‘t remember - is GS really playing throughout almost the whole of Departed? Also, it‘s 2022 and I can‘t with all the violence.
Not really. Just 2 scenes.
