A good score or original soundtrack can make a scene iconic.

@@eyeheartsushi2212 Right?
That look he gives while smoking the cigarette is the moment that the movie acknowledged that Jimmy was in fact that most dangerous character in the movie
Tbere was a reason Tommy didnt fuck wirh Jimmy in real life. He KNEW BETTER.
I mean way earlier in the movie Henry talks about Jimmy being such a good hitman because killing meant nothing to him. He had been a hitman since he was like 17. A stone cold killer that doesnt show anger is way scarier than someone like Tommy who you can tell takes it personally. You never see it coming from a guy that doesnt show emotion over it.
@@carlwinslo yes henry does talk about it but this is the first time that the movie SHOWS it. Its one thing to have a character tell you something about another character but its another thing to have that character show you through their actions on screen. One of the most iconic scenes of all time I was shook the first time I saw it. It’s so simple on paper yet Deniro’s face says so much in the context of the movie.
Literally possibly my favorite Deniro scene ever. Except maybe when he first sees Sharon Stone in Casino. What a great fn actor. Great fn director.

The Casino scene doesn't compare.
He's so bad ass without trying to be,they complement each other.
Cinematic brilliance.
Too bad DeNiro is now a liberal PU-C who complains about Donald Trump all... day... long. Someone call the whambulance.
De Niro doesn't attempt to give his character any redeeming features in Goodfellas, same with Pesci too, both terrifying in how mundane killing is to them
Along those same lines,,, in taxi driver when he first meets the pimp who thinks Deniro is a cop,,, and Deniro looks back at him and says "I'm hip".... The pimp has no idea what he's up against😂

One of the best scenes in the world cinematography, when an actor plays without any words, just glance, mimics, gestures!
The look in De Niro’s eyes in that moment is maybe some of the best acting ever. One of the biggest things missing from modern films is the good use of music not just having pop music but actually using the music for a purpose . Music can be used so many ways to fit the tone contrapuntally (opposite of tone) to convey character emotion or thoughts to bring character together to open a movie to end a movie to show love to show hate endless possibilities
You have to know the right music even exists for the scene. So, you need writers and directors that have a huge amount of music at their disposal to even know to connect those dots.

Bob Money is A Living Legend 💯‼️😎👍
The tone of the music fits Jimmy's state of mind and how a thought suddenly occurred to him on how he could liberate himself from a burden and it made him grin, a perverse grin: because he had murder on his mind.
In other words, Jimmy got off on murder and its use to get whatever he wanted. It's the classic use of violence and sensuality together, which so many mobsters and criminals mix together to feel satisfaction. It's Thanatos (death) and Eros (love) together, called the death drive in psychology.
The song by Cream, "Sunshine of Our Love," is actually about a man excited at the prospect of sex with a woman, so Jimmy was feeling arousal when it occurred to him to just have the guy murdered because he would accomplish two things: free himself from a debt and gaining perverse satisfaction from the violence exacted on Morrie.
I sincerely believe that's why Scorsese used it. He understood that song and the character of Jimmy.
That's a solid analysis
