I am American & embarrassed by how little effort most make at names. Granted, if reading “Saoirse”, you can’t blame most for not reading Gaelic. But a name that’s the teeniest bit ethnic is often anglicized or butchered. Had a class with a girl named Patricia pronounced Pat-reez-ee-uh. Not that hard. My professor refused to even try & just called her “Pat”. 😖
